    Establishment

The army of the Kingdom of Serbia captured Durrs on 29 November 1912without any resistance. An Orthodox bishop from Durrs named Jakovgave a particularly warm welcome to the new authorities. According to a1929 work by Serbian essayist Milutin Lazarevi, the Christian population

of Durrs was thrilled by the arrival of the Serbian army.[3] Right after theirarrival in Durrs, on 29 November 1912, the Kingdom of Serbia establisheddistrict offices and appointed the governor of the county, mayor of the city,

and commander of the military garrison.[4]

The first governor of Durrs County was Ivan Ivani, a Serbian diplomat. His wife Delfa, who was famous as one of the founders of the Circle ofSerbian Sisters (Serbian: Kolo Srpskih Sestara), governed the city hospitalin Durrs.[5][6] The first mayor of Durrs was Petar urakovi, a memberof a family from this city, while members of the city council were Hristos

Greek language and, after a while, he was appointed as governor of Durrs County[8] instead of Ivan

    Ivani.
