From decarbonisation to artificial intelligence – Challenges and opportunities for EU industry towards 2030 The global economic landscape is changing and the new industrial revolution is happening now. New global trends driven by digitalisation, automatisation, advanced manufacturing and the energy and resource efficiency production, are leading to servitisation as well as new, and often disruptive, business models. These trends boost innovation, value creation and industrial transformation and can offer major business opportunities. At the same time, the rapid and disruptive pace of change creates many uncertainties. This session would aim to present and provide a “reality check” of the work carried out by different high-level expert groups established by the Commission in recent months, and bringing their contributions together in the context of a single consistent framework of the European industry in 2030.
