We have a very strong spirit of School Culture, with this being evident throughout the many events, activities – sporting or otherwise, that we hold and participate in at school and within the community. The Hills Relay for Life is a great example of this. Under the leadership of Mr Gainey, we have participated in the Relay for Life for the last 15 years. It is a very worthy community event, and demonstrates our students’ commitment to looking after others and contributing to the community as young adults. I would like to thank in advance Terry Gainey, Tracey Garnett and all of the students, parents and staff who will participate in this event over the weekend of the 20/21 st May. Last fortnight, I wrote about the new Reporting process that we are currently implementing. Whilst the reports will look slightly different, the detailed information and feedback to students and parents will remain the same. One of the significant changes that we have made, after debate and discussion with all staff, is to alter the Year 7 – 10 Grade boundaries. We have made slight changes to bring the boundaries more into line with the HSC Band boundaries. We believe in always supporting students to aim for their personal best and to continue to strive for excellence, and believe that the revised boundaries will provide a more consistent picture of achievement right from Year 7. We have also updated our Personal Learning Profiles to reflect the language of 21 st century learning, with a specific focus on feedback, collaboration and independent learning. The new boundaries are: A 100 - 85 B 84 - 70 C 69 - 50 D 49 - 25 E 24 - 0

Technology never stands still. We all know this and the time has come for the Department of Education to upgrade the infrastructure within the school. This will mean that during Week 7 – 5-9th June, we will not have any access to Information and Communication technology within the school. Our network will be shut-down, upgraded and then gradually all computers will be re-imaged and brought back on-line. The good old days of paper rolls will be back during Week 7, this will mean that parents will not receive text messages to notify them of their child’s absence from school. The Senior Executive and Administration office will be brought back on-line first, hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday. As soon as the Roll office has access to the Attendance database they will update the rolls and send notifications for the previous days absences. If your child is sick during Week 7 – 5 – 9th June, we ask that you phone in their absence to Reception. We will be providing updates and advice through the school app during this week. The app is available from Google play or app Store—just search Castle Hill High School app.

During Week 7 – payments will NOT be able to be processed through Room 1. If students are going to attend an excursion during Week 7, the paperwork and payment will need to be at Room 1 by the end of Week 6 – 2nd June. We thank you in advance for your patience, we have avoided this upgrade for as long as possible, being one of the last schools within NSW to be processed. Winter is fast approaching, the mornings are certainly much cooler and I would like to remind parents and students that hooded jumpers (or hoodies) are not part of our school uniform. Students have the option to wear the navy blue woollen jumper and Navy Slim line jacket. All other coloured jumpers and jackets do not meet the uniform requirements, endorsed by our P & C. We regularly speak to the students about the importance of wearing uniform and taking pride in being part of Castle Hill HS. We thank you for your continued support of our School Uniform policy. I would make a special thanks to Mrs Boss for her support through the whole process. Thanks Jackson Foster Year 8. Congratulations and well done Jackson on your brave fundraising venture. VACCINATION CLINIC - YEAR 11 AND 12 STUDENTS - Friday 2ND

June

Earlier this year it was announced that a Meningococcal ACWY Vaccination Program would be offered to Year 11 and Year 12 students. This clinic will take place on Friday 2nd June at the school. All students in years 11 and 12 have been given a letter and a Parent Information Pack which contains a vaccination consent form, information sheet and a privacy statement. For students to take part in this program, a completed and signed consent form must be returned to Mrs Heinrich (Library) by Wednesday 24th May. Students who did not receive a letter or Information Pack and intend to participate in this program should see Mrs Heinrich (Library) as soon as possible. Please see the following communication from NSW Health for more information regarding the NSW School Vaccination Program.

VACCINATION CLINIC – YEAR 7 STUDENTS

Due to the recently announced Meningococcal ACWY Vaccination Program being offered to Year 11 and 12 students in Term 2, the second Year 7 Vaccination Clinic has been rescheduled to Monday 16th October. The vaccinations offered at this clinic will be 2nd dose HPV and Varicella. Further information regarding the completion of the HPV course will be provided by NSW Health later in the year. Please see the following communication from NSW Health for more information regarding the NSW School Vaccination Program.
