Prerequisites

ThisisabasicguideforcongregationswithVDSLconnections.Wehavecompiledthisstep-by-stepguideaccordingtothemostcommonsettingsusedbyInternetServiceProviders(ISP).

ThisguidewillworkoutoftheboxwithmostNewZealandISP’svDSLconnectionsandmanyAustralianproviders.

Belowisalistoftheconfigurationdetailsthatthisguideisbasedoff.Beforebeginningthisprocess,pleaseobtainalistofconfigurationsettingsfromyourISPandadjustthisguideasneeded.

• Operatingmode:VDSL2• PPPprotocol:PPPoE• PPPusername:user@spark.co.nz• PPPpassword:password• PPPauthtype:PAP• Encapsulation:802.1Q• PCPmarking:0• VLANID:10• MTU:1500orAuto

Beforestartingthisstepbystepprocess,pleasepowerupyourrouterandconnectyourcomputertotheLAN1Ethernetport.DHCPisconfiguredontherouterbydefaultsoyouwillbeprovidedwithanewIPaddress.

ThefollowingconfigurationstepswillprovideyouwithanoptimizedconfigurationforyourKingdomHall.Thisprocesswill:

1. EnsurethatVattendanceVoIPtrafficisprioritized,allowingtheclearestsoundpossible.2. ProvideseparateSSID’sforAdministratorsandGuests(everyoneelse)toensurethatnetwork

trafficthatiscriticaltothemeetingisseparatedfromgeneraltraffic.3. Employabasicfirewallconfiguration

Thisguidedoesnotdelveintoanyofthemoreadvancedfeatureslikebandwidthmanagementandapplicationawareness.Forassistancewiththesefeatures,pleasedownloadthemanufacturersguide.

1 Inyourinternetbrowser,browsetoaddress“http://192.168.1.1”.Loginusingadmin/adminastheUsernameandPassword.

2 Click“Ok”toclosethisdialogbox

3 Inthemenuonthelefthandside,click“Wizards”andthen“QuickStartWizard”.Enter“admin”astheOldPasswordandchooseanewpassword.ThenclickNext.

4 ConfiguretheWANpageasshownhere.Click“Next”.

5 Configurethispageasshownbelow.Thenclick“Next”.

6 EnteryourISPUsernameandPassword.Thenclick“Next”.Onthefollowingpageclick“Finish”toexitthewizard.

7 Onthelefthandmenuclick“Wizards”andthen“WirelessWizard”.Configureasshownbutuseapasswordofyourchoice.Thenclick“Next”.

Note:Thisisconfiguringanunrestrictedadminnetwork.Theadminnetworkhasnorestrictionsinplaceandshouldonlybeprovidedtothosewhoneedit(ie:SoundDesk,etc).

8 Ifthisboxappears,click“OK”.

9 Configureasshownbutuseapasswordofyourchoice.Thenclick“Next”.

Note:ThisistheGuestnetwork.Thisisthenetworkthatmostinthecongregationwilluse.Ensurethatyouchooseadifferentpasswordforthisnetwork.

10 Click“Finish”.

11 Onthelefthandmenuclick“Firewall”andthen“DoSDefense”.Putatickinthe“EnableDoSDefense”boxandpress“SelectAll”.Finallyclick“OK”atthebottom.

12 Onthelefthandmenu,click“BandwidthManagement”then“QualityofService”.Inthe“SIPUDPPort”box,enter“50600”andclickOK.
