Dream Clouds- FACTUALCharlotte Ellis & Jade Girgensons

Roles: Charlotte Ellis- Producer Jade Girgensons- BA ResearchDreams are a series of emotions, images, ideas and sensations that occur involuntarily whilst we are asleep. Some people remember them the morning after, some dont; some people dream about things that have been on their mind, whilst others dream about completely random situations.

Every night whilst we are asleep, each of us creates around five dream episodes which last between 15 and 40 minutes. Technically we all spend about two hours dreaming every single night. Ian WallaceWhy this topic ANDWHY NOW?Relevant because we all dream, whether we know it or not.If we asked everyone if they remembered a specific dream they probably could name at least one.Interesting and a relaxing topic to listen tooIn the mediaIan Wallace has a new book

overview: Dream Clouds is a 15 minute factual piece exploring dreaming that occurs when we sleep. Key areas: why do we dream? What do our dreams mean? Can we control our dreams? We will be hearing from members of the public to find out the most common dreams. Experts in the field of Science/Psychology will be offering their theories on the topic too.

Aims & Objectives: Produce a factual piece that is interesting to listen to & offers the audience something different. To educate the listener so that they come away having learnt a new theory or meaning. Produce a piece of audio that is technically good & provides relaxing listening. To be creative and create a unique factual piece with a range of professionals that study this field

Target audience: Dream Clouds would be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 for this appeals to those who seek intelligent programming which entertains, informs & educates.Aimed at an audience of 45+ However we all dream & so with such wide relation, the piece is likely to attract a large secondary audience too. Will be played in the late afternoon as we listened to The Sleep Diaries In Dreams which was aired on BBC Radio 4 in June 2011 at 15:45
