Dress Code Guide for Luella Middle School
Students are welcome to express themselves in their dress attire, which is why we do not mandate uniforms. To
ensure a proper and appropriate learning environment at LMS, there are a few items that are NOT allowed at LMS.
1. ‘Leggings/Spandex on a whim’-Leggings are treated like actual legs. A top, dress, shorts or skirt must be 3
inches above the knee to accompany the leggings. Leggings cannot be worn alone.
2. ‘Ripped/Torn Jeans’-Any holes in jeans must have a covering underneath. No skin can be shown.
3. ‘Slides/Flip Flops/Sandals’-Feet must be secure!
4. ‘Hoodies/Hats/Caps/Beanies’- Hoodies can be worn as a sweatshirts, but the ‘hooded’ part cannot! No
head coverings from hoods, hats, caps or beanies can be worn within the building.
5. ‘Shoulder Straps’-Straps on shirts and dresses must cover the entire shoulder.
6. ‘Shorts, Dresses, Skirts’-These items cannot more than 3 inches from top of the knee…a 3x5 index card can
guide you.
7. ‘Headwear’-Bandanas are not allowed. Scarves or any items covering the majority of the head are not
allowed (unless approved by administration for religious reasons) Headbands are allowed.
