  • The seasonal and regional variation in the composition of raw milk makes a standardisation of raw milk necessary for all subsequent processing steps. FT-NIR spectroscopy analyses the key parameters, fat, protein, dry matter and lactose, with comparable accuracy to conventional mid-infrared systems (FT-IR).

    Any kind of milk, e.g. raw milk, skimmed milk or UHT milk, can be analysed, as well as other liquid dairy products including cream, condensed milk, liquid ice cream, fl avoured milk preparations and concentrates, even viscous products that conventional milk analysis instruments struggle to measure.

    P ietribiasi Michel-angelo was estab-lished between the end 1960 and the beginning of the next decade.

    From the beginning the family-run company spe-cialized in the construction of equipment for the dairy industry and developed later into the field of soft drinks, juices and bever-ages in general. Today the Pietribiasi name is among the more well-known in the dairy and beverages sector and the company is inter-nationally acknowledged, particularly in the realisa-tion of turn-key projects, and in the specific process-ing sectors, such as produc-tion of cheeses, pasteurisa-tion and packaging ones. PHARMALINE X

    W.Pharmaline X is a very exible smoothbore insi-

    de PTFE hose convoluted outside included a 316

    SS helical reinforcing wire with a clear transpa-

    rent silicone Platinum Cured. It is designed to

    replace conventional all-silicone rubber hoses in

    application where the inner silicone rubber linear

    may be subject to chemical reaction with uids

    passing through, which may either contaminate

    the uid itself, or degrade the rubber liner.

    APPLICATIONS

    Thanks to its high purity the Pharmaline X is de-

    signed for uses not burdensome and high hygie-

    ne where the operating pressure is not high; It is

    particularly suitable in pharmaceutical, biotech,

    chemical and food due to its high degree of clea-

    ning inside and outside. It also used in industrial

    general applications, especially for the passage

    of hot liquids and gases.

    The new range of electro-polished stainless steel cable carriers grants smooth and easily cleanable surfaces, as it is requested in the food industry

    CANALFIL focuses on hygiene

    Little attention is often paid to surfaces in any metal material, provided that we need to solve cleaning and hygiene problems related to good aesthetics. Yet, the importance that surface finish may have, especially if in stainless steel, is as different as the variety of applications that these materials may have in various industrial environments, and in this case, in the agri-food plants sector.For these kinds of plants, you need to enhance the peculiar features of stainless steel, such as corrosion

    resistance, hygiene, surface smoothness, etc, for which superficial treatments, non mechanic but chemical, are often carried out.Electro-polishing is a surface finish chemical technique through which metal is removed electrolytically, ion by ion, from the surface of an object. The main goal is minimizing the micro roughness by dramatically reducing dirt or product residues that stick to the surface and therefore improving cleanness of the surfaces.Electro-polishing grants smooth, easily cleanable and aesthetically nice surfaces, as it is requested in the food industry, combining with unrivalled hygiene and non-contaminants. This process reduces oxidation and contamination of the components of the stainless steel used in the dairy sector, and equipment used in food automatic processes.The new CANALFIL range features the following main characteristics: surface micro deflashing for a resulting compact

    structure and reduced specific surface; clean surface with excellent passivity film for

    excellent corrosion resistance; elimination of any deposits and superficial

    contamination; reduction of cleaning times thanks to excellent

    non-adherence capacity; reflective and aesthetically nice surface, over

    time.

    Lelettrolucidatura assicura superfici levigate, facilmente pulibili ed esteticamente piacevoli, come richieste dallindustria alimentare, abbinate a qualit igieniche e non contaminanti impareggiabili. Questo processo riduce lossidazione e la contaminazione dei componenti in acciaio inox utilizzati nellindustria casearia ed equi-paggiamenti per il processo automatico degli alimenti. Nel complesso per elettrolucidatura si realizza una superficie perfettamente pulita che offre la massima resistenza alle colonie batteriche ed alle particelle di prodotto.Possiamo infine riassumere i principali punti di forza della nuova gamma CANALFIL: sbavatura in campo micro della struttura superfi-

    ciale e ottenimento di una struttura compatta e una ridotta superficie specifica;

    ottenimento di una superficie pulita con un eccel-lente film di passivit per una massima resistenza alla corrosione;

    eliminazione di tutti i depositi e le contaminazioni superficiali;

    riduzione dei tempi di pulizia delle superfici per merito degli ottimi attributi di non aderenza;

    ottenimento di una superficie riflettiva e gradevole da un punto di vista estetico, nel tempo.

    PARKER P1D-C CYLINDERS OFFER RAPID CLEANING IN HARSH ENVIRONMENTS

    NEWS

    arker, the global leader in motion and control tech-nologies, has

    launched its P1D-C Ultra Clean and P1D-C Pro Clean pneu-matic cylinders. Designed to eliminate retention areas such as recesses, grooves or pockets, the cylinders offer easy and quick cleaning for applications in harsh environments, thus providing users with reduced maintenance and downtime. The P1D-C Ultra Clean version comprises a tube pro le made from anodised aluminium.

    In effect, it offers four com-pletely smooth surfaces without traps to prevent any stagna-tion of impurities such as dirt and liquids from the cylinder body. The permanently sealed cylinder is thus ideal for ap-plications where hygiene and ease-of-cleaning are paramount, such as in the food and bever-age industry. The lubrication of the P1D-C cylinder range is made with Parkers proven, edible grease that offers food industry approval. The P1D-C Pro Clean version uses the same pro le but one side has two slots to allow the embed-

    ding of sensors for detecting limit switches the remaining three sides are smooth. The Pro Clean design was devised with applications such as pack-aging and conveying in mind. Both P1D-C cylinder types are available in diameters from 32 to 125 mm, and in stroke lengths up to 2800 mm. These quiet operation, corrosion and chemical resistant cylinders have been developed accord-ing to the dimensional standard ISO 15552 to ensure compli-ance internationally. sented by the latest examples of its innovative solutions for coffee sector, among which Cama has recently supplied various high speed lines for capsules and stick-packs.

    One of the latest successful applications has been a line to pack 500 cups/minute into corrugated board car-tons, which are then collated and packed into RSC cases. The line is composed of a monoblock system (form-ing unit, closing unit and top loading robot integrated into one frame) and has proven to be extremely exible. The cups are loaded in a speci c con guration so as to obtain optimal carton dimensions into various formats from 8 to 48 count. (photo 1)

    1400 coffee capsules/min-ute are packed in another Cama packaging line into

    cartons, and then case packed in a wrap-around case.

    The line is composed of a special infeed system for the manipulation and collation of products at high speed into a limited space, with gentle handling to ensure maximum integrity of the coffee cups. The line does also include a special vision system for product quality control.

    The success of this appli-cation during the years is mainly due to the continu-ous drive by Cama towards innovative packaging systems. The customers stringent speci cation and Camas ability to develop a suitable solution based on these requirements made Cama an ideal partner with whom their continu-ous growth in the market is shared. (photo 2)

    Cama is one of a few sec-ondary packaging system manufacturers that could design a line with such a high-tech/reliability ratio as this other one, considering the innovation of the sys-tem and the products soft manipulation requirements: an original hexagonal car-ton has been designed for this Customer.

    400 coffee cups, arriving in four lines, are packed in a collation of 15 cups per carton into the hexagonal carton. The cups, individually handled, are accumulated and placed into a multiple-pocket conveyor ready to be picked up by the Cama triple-axis robot.

    The addition of rotating third axis allows the inser-tion of groups of cups into the electronic carton-ing machine infeed pockets with intermittent motion.

    Then the product is care-fully end loaded into hex-agonal cartons. (photo 3)

    A well crafted knowledge has allowed Cama to offer the latest and most reli-able technical solution also for a line for packaging of stick-packs. Designed for a leading coffee company, this line is composed of two special hopper loaders that automatically load stick-packs from the processing machines into the infeed of a Cama electronic cartoning machine.

    Stick packs arriving at 960 ppm are collated and loaded into end load cartons. Vari-ous collations can be con g-ured. (photo 4)

    For non air-tight capsules, the Italian Company recently pro-posed a compact Monoblock packing system that, starting from at cartons, creates eyes-catching and useful ip-top re-closable displays, each con-taining 10 singly ow-packed capsules.This highly ef cient system is handling up to 500 cups/min-ute, arriving from 4 upstream ow-wrappers. Merged into 2 parallel lines, the capsules are received and indexed by the Cama IF monoblock and then top loaded, well ordered in a 5x2 con guration, by a Cama 2 axis robot. The robotic closing device makes a perfectly squared box that, once opened, could be re-closed. Cama, as often, provided also the tertiary packaging: displays coming from the monoblock are collected and loaded in a 2 pieces (tray+lid) corrugated carton case suitable for trans-portation by a FW wrap-around Machine. (photo 5)

    The Cama Group staff (200 people), is composed of a selected group of ex-perienced and highly skilled engineers and technicians all committed to the company philosophy of total quality process system. Cama has made a name for itself on the International market as Europes leading company specialised in secondary coffee packaging technol-ogy. 5% of turnover is dedicated to permanent research and development, leading to ever more suc-cessful market oriented products for a competitive technical advantage, reduc-ing costs and maintaining high quality systems. The adopted motto speaks for itself: more technology, less cost.

    according to the capsule diameter, with respect to traditional machines. The machine is alsoequipped with a patent-ed system for vacuum generation that guaran-tees that the residualoxygen content inside the capsule be kept below 1%, in order to maintain the productfragrance. Qi is also preset for the use of various capsule closure systems, based not only on thermoforming but also on pulses: a solu-tion that requires less energy but also providesmore precise and clean seals. Great attention has also been devoted to ergonomy, trying to facilitate machine con-ductionand cleaning, at the same time developing a shape to permit the per-fect machine integrationinto different produc-tion situations. By using the complete machine perimeter the floor space occupied is re-duced to a minimum and the production flow is developed clockwise or counter-clockwise according to the lay-out requirements of

    the production area. This also permits as-signing less personnel to more machines, so that a lower number of operators can supervise one or more lines at the same time. It should also be mentioned that the machine is equipped with systems for the cantilevered extraction of the various groups, so that cleaning opera-tions become faster and more accurate. Qi is also equipped with a system for the automatic reel re-winding on the scrap belt, which also helps maintaining cleanliness and order within the production environ-ment.

    Qi 800 - velocity rhymes with reliabilityThe best performing machine for capsule packaging offered by Acma proposes itselfas a solution capable of combining excellent production performance levels with very high reliability and sturdiness. Developed starting from an R.A Jones platform,another company be-longing to the Coesia group, Qi 800 inherits

    a consolidated technol-ogy and improves on its thanks to brand-new solutions. Sixteen tracks, eight hundred strokes per minute, production levels at the top of the category.But beyond numbers and performance levels, Qi 800, the Acma ma-chine for high-speedcapsule packaging, promises to be a reliable and sturdy solution, at the same time capableof accurately tracking the production process and of offering high-quality products. Qi 800has been designed based on the machine plat-form of the FP series by R.A Jones, which, justas Acma, is part of the Coesia group, and has a well-established reputa-tion in the coffee sector. The machines of this series have been greatly appreciated by the mar-kets not only for their performance levels but also for their character-istics of sturdiness and reliability.Acma has worked in partnership with the U.S. company with the aim of developing a solution capable of be-

The machine is also equipped with the pat-ented R.A Jones MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) system, thanks to which the operation in nitrogen-modified atmosphere permits producing cap-sules with a residual oxygen percentageof less than 1%, to the full advantage of the fragrance of the final product. Qi 800 is alsoequipped with a system for waste separation, based on a no capsules, no dosage mode, and can therefore prevent any waste of capsules, wrapping material and products. Finally, the machine can also be equipped with the ARA (Advanced Remote As-sistance) system, a tool for the remote control

    of the machine func-tions by specialized Acma technicians.

    Miniwrap - the green and cost saving so-lution for flowpack-packaging of capsulesThe new Acma flow-packer is the ideal solu-tion to complete pack-aging lines for coffeeor for capsules for solu-ble beverages. Miniwrap has been developed with the target of reducing material consumption and of limiting costs: compared to the tradi-tional solutions available on the market, it per-mits savings of 30% on wrapping material andreduces package volume by about 50%.With Miniwrap Acma broadens its portfolio of solutions for the cof-fee sector and can nowoffer complete lines for the packaging of soluble products in capsules, thus meeting the pro-duction requirements of various types of roast-ers. Its distinctive fea-ture is a speed of up to220 capsules per minute, while at the same time ensuring, thanks to the patented gas insuffla-

    tion and suction system, that the oxygen content inside the package be al-ways kept below 1% and that the nitrogen con-sumption be reduced by at least 50%. Miniwrapguarantees ideal per-formance levels for the completion of mid-speed capsule packaginglines. Moreover, more Miniwrap machines can operate in tandem to meet the requirementsof high capacity pro-duction lines.Miniwrap, such as the capsule packaging ma-chines of the Qi se-ries, has been designedand developed to be part of a green proj-ect, aimed first of all at reducing waste, so as toguarantee savings for the customer, and at the same time limiting any impact on the environ-ment. Practically speak-ing, these characteristics translate into a 30% reduction of the wrap-ping materials necessary for packaging as com-pared with the solutions traditionally available on the market, while the package volume has been reduced by more than 50%. In turn, this

Last but not least, the machine permits producing ex-tremely high-quality pack-ages as concerns both appearance and mechani-cal resistance, which con-tributes to making this machine a unique offer on todays market.

    Tecnomeccanica T2 and T4: consolidated technology for innova-tive packagingTecnomeccanica, the Acma brand specifi -cally dedicated to the tea sector, offers advanced solutions for single or double chamber bag packaging. The Bolo-gna-based company is able to integrate into its own machine systems for secondary packagingthat are both practical and cost-effective, like the wrap-around or the bag-in-bag solutions.The ongoing posi-tive trend continues to proclaim Tecnomec-canica as leader of the singlechamber packag-

    ing sector, in which the Bologna-based company has become the con-solidated partner of the main international groups, thanks to this T2 machine: a solutionwhich is both reliable and fl exible, confi gu-rable according to the different needs of themanufactures. For ex-ample, the machine is available in the full-leaf confi guration, dedicatedto complete leaf prod-uct packaging, and can be integrated with different systems for secondary packaging, including the bags-in-bag one, so as to allow consumers to purchasesingle bags, a solution which is particularly appreciated on markets like Africa and the Mid-dle East.There is also the ex-tremely positive trend in the double-chamber sec-tor, thanks to the T4, amachine previewed dur-ing the recent Interpack fair, and which promises to become a particularly advanced solution both from the point of view of product quality (the bag has been described as the most beauti-

    ful in the world) and as regards the reduced impact on the environ-ment, achieved by using a bio-degradable fi lter paper and by a closure system which does not use either glue or metal staples.T4 has recently under-gone a technological upgrade aimed at incre-menting performance, with an upgrade from 250 to 300 bags per minute. As in the case of T2, T4 can be inte-grated with different groups for secondary packaging. It is also pos-sible to set it up for 10-bag packaging in micro boxes: a solution which permits savings of up to 50% as compared tothe commonly used boxes. A further type of secondary packaging is the wrap-around, inwhich the groups of bags are wrapped in a one-piece cellophane wrap. T4 is the onlymachine on the market that can be equipped with an integrated cello-phane machine.

    ision, mission and philosophy of ex-cellenceIn a country with food

    manufacturing poten-tials, food manufacturing

    has to be set as one of the pillars of technological and economi-cal progress. PIGO set a goal to become an initiating force in technological and consequently economical progress in food processing industry, a leader in country and in the world in manufacturing of food process-ing machines from its program. Today, PIGO has established it-self as a world-class leader in the design and manufacture of high technology freezing equipment and freeze dryers, as well as fruit and vegetable processing equip-ment, with an extensive experi-

    ence in both freezing and fruit and vegetables processing. PIGO machines are the result of many years of experience, research and development. PIGO can proudly say that its machines achieve excellent operating characteristics and energy efficiency, while being user friendly, thus guaranteeing many advantages and privileges to the companys buyers.

    Main productsPIGO has specialized in build-ing fluidised bed freezers, EASY Freeze, the most suitable for IQF freezing variety of fruits, vegetables and numerous sea, meat and cheese products, redefining IQF technology with adaptable air flow. Our EASY Freeze technology is providing perfect shape of IQF product

    and no clumps - full controlled fluidisation method keeps the product constantly suspended above the belt in a cushion of air. The result is the immediate crust freezing and efficient core freezing of individual pieces, regardless of type, variety or condition of product. Freez-ing efficiency is maximized for each unique product, whether the product is heavy, light, soft, sticky or fragile, thanks to vari-able speed control of all fans and belts, allowing on-the-fly optimization of air flow condi-tions. Interior video monitoring allows for real-time supervising of operating conditions, allow-ing the complete control and ad-justments of the entire process from outside, without necessity to enter into the freezer. Freeze is considered as the freezer with the most superior sanitation, giving the possibil-ity to freeze different products one after the other without risk of cross - contamination. EASY Freeze is energy saving and trouble free solution for all your freezing needs. Within the freezing equipment product line, PIGO also manufactures the innovative EASY Freeze SPYRO, the latest generation of spiral freezers giving utmost advantages to the users in terms of energy efficiency, hygienic conditions and advanced tech-nological characteristics, such as: Belts gear motors are posi-

    tioned outside the insulated cabin (no lubrication inside the freezer) avoiding any risks of contaminations due to some oil leakages;

    The unit doesnt have any mezzanine floor and or inter-mediary platform, to avoid any dirtiness accumulation (presence of any mezzanine floor or intermediary platform are making more difficult the cleaning operations) - the absolutely highest hygienic standards;

    Freezer design is made accord-ing to max. thermal load and max. surface occupied on the belt by the different products foreseen;

    Low maintenance cost and low spare parts cost due to

    utilisation of high quality com-mercial components;

    Low pressure fans to higher air speed. In order to obtain a quick freezing process EASY Freeze SPYRO is designed for high speed circulation (4 -10 m/sec) of cold air in contact with the product, on the whole length of the spiral conveyor;

    Very low weight loss, which is two times less than with verti-cal air flow

    Hitting the incoming product with the coldest air; the prod-uct is therefore immediately crusted and snow formation diminished.

    PIGO freezers are built in modular sizes and all compo-nents are made entirely of stain-less steel, capable to provide perfectly frozen product even for delicate products like cooked rice, raspberries, etc. PIGO also designs, fabricates and as-sembles sophisticated pilot and production freeze dryers, EASY Freeze DRYER - LYOPHILIZ-ER, product line which includes a broad range of standard and custom units. The freeze drying - dehydration technology allows to save delicate aromas while drying the frozen product under vacuum, producing premium quality product. The machine is made entirely in stainless steel (chamber, doors, hinges, shelf

    modules, trays etc) with shelf modules and vapour condenser contained inside the chamber.Viewing ports are provided in the doors, allowing observa-tion of both the vapour con-denser and product trays during the drying cycle.Each unit is equipped with complete refrig-eration plant of corresponding size, including also refrigera-tion condensing unit which is purpose-built with capacity control to allow economical use of refrigerant. Besides EASY Freeze, EASY Freeze SPYRO, and EASY Freeze DRYER - LYOPHILIZER, one of the companys main machines is automatic Pitting machine PG103 having at least 50-100% higher capacity than any other pitting machine on the market. Experience of all PIGOs clients confirms work with 0,00% of remained stones when adequate quality and preparation of the fruit (clean, calibrated product with adequate ripeness) is pro-vided. To get a better idea of what PIGO does, please visit the website www.pigo.it or just send an e-mail to [email protected], they will be very glad to send their detailed offer, and also a DVD with plenty of videos with its machines in the work. hen prompted to select food that is distinctively Italian,

    one might suggest pasta. Every country

    has their own local signature dish, such as sh and chips in England, sushi in Japan, and pierogies in Poland. In America, few would debate that a hearty steak is deserving of this des-ignation. Beyond steak and beef, other types of meat such as pork and chicken, among many others, are at the center of the dinner table each night in many households in America and around the world. Stam-pede Meat, Inc., located in the Greater Chicago area, is a meat processing company that pro-duces custom-made, center-of-the-plate beef, pork, and chicken products, and is the number one steak supplier in America. Their skillfully cut pieces of meat are prepared for commercial food-service in restaurants, large food distributors, cruise lines and casinos, as well as for consum-ers through distribution from retail stores.Whether multiple cuts of meat are to be prepared for a banquet hall of 1,000 people or one piece is prepared for a family of four, the careful

    and precise prepa-ration of the meat before it lands in the hands of the preparer is criti-cal. Marinades and proteins are added to most products in order to ensure the meat is safe and delicious for hu-man consumption. Adding the proper amount per pound of meat is critical to this pro-cess and Stampede relies on OHAUS Valor 4000 and 2000 scales to ensure their meat is processed to perfection. Stam-pede Meat also uses the Valor 4000 to determine the nal price of the meat in order to assure the weight of the piece of meat is marked accurately on every package, as Valor 4000 has the necessary legal-for-trade ap-provals. Not only is this critical in ensuring that the customer gets exactly what they pay for, but the customer can also be sure they cook the meat prop-erly as weight is a large factor in determining how long it must be cooked. Aside from the accuracy of the Valor scales, Stampede Meat bene ts from the dual displays, which allow quality inspectors to monitor the

    butchers work without inter-fering with their production. Valor 4000 and 2000 are also extremely easy to clean, with an IP68 water-resistant ow-thru design that utilizes drain holes to channel water that has entered the housing out of the scale without posing any threat to the critical internal components and weighing cell. The easy-clean design allows Stampede Meat to keep their scales in pristine condition while supporting their mission to produce safe and de-licious meat for their customers.

    The scales we have used in the past were not durable enough to hold up in our harsh environ-ment, said Roberto Giuliano, Quality Assurance Manager for Stampede Meat. These new OHAUS Valor scales are true workhorses and the best scales Ive ever purchased. .

    OPP manu-facturer Bimo was

    set up in the mid 1980s

    by the Tusca-ny-based Irplast Group. Today Irplast is an Italian industrial group vertically integrated (production of bi-oriented polypropylene fi lm by BIMO subsidiary and printed adhesive tapes and labels by Irplast), operating in Food, Bever-age, Tobacco and Toiletries industrial areas. The com-pany reaps the advantages offered by integration to create unique opportuni-ties for rapid and targeted R&D initiatives on fi lms, thanks to the possibility of immediately testing in-house the conversion and application performance of the new products. The Bimo division operates two BOPP fi lm produc-tion sites in Atessa (CH) and Irplast operates a fi lm printing and coating plant in Empoli (FL). Thanks to a recent consolidation of operations and a bal-

    ance sheet strengthened by the conversion of debt to equity, the company has embarked on the major investments studied in their Business Plan to introduce new cutting-edge technolo-gies and revamp existing equipment to support the targets of product sustain-ability and R&D for further growth stimulation in their key markets.

    Bimo Bopp Film Advan-tages by vertical integrationBimo offers huge advan-tages - operating in a verti-cally integrated business model - which starts with the extrusion of BOPP fi lms and continues with the printing and converting of fi nished products like labels, printed pack wraps and adhesive tape.BIMO offers a wide range of BOPP fi lms in thick-nesses from 14 to 70 micron all specially de-signed for the advanced industrial applications they serve. Three extrusion and stretching lines are in-stalled- two of them with

    Tenter Sequential Stretch-ing, and a third line using the innovative and exible LISIM simultaneous orien-tation technology known as SOL, which allows frictionless fi lm produc-tion with variable MD/TD stretching ratios, ideal for the production of special shrinkable fi lms specifi cally designed for high perfor-mance wrapping lines like those used in the cigarette industry. The Tobacco Business Unit, inaugurated in 2002, is the specialist BU which manages the design, commercialization and production of the whole range of fi lms dedicated to cigarette wrapping, based on the technical advantages offered by development with SOL technology, such as optical properties, shrinkage properties, and exceptional mechanical properties which deliver improvements in customer

    productivity and product appearance, even with cost-saving thicknesses as low as 16 micron. These products offer controlled and balanced shrinkage ratios, reliable low coefficient of friction, pre-dictable sealing strengths, and exceptional transparency and gloss. The continuous devel-opment work over the past decade has built up a valuable knowledge base in BIMO which now offers films for all production circumstances, be they latest generation high

    speed packers or revamped older generation machines with or without single pack shrink tunnels, allowing the supplier to tailor his offering for each particular factory or wrapping line. The pack-age is completed by bespoke and fast R&D on demand involving raw material suppli-ers, machinery manufacturers and research laboratories, and an expert team of applica-tions technicians dedicated to sharing knowledge and best practice on all types of pro-

    duction lines in the customers factories. Two years ago Bimo abandoned the commodity film business and strategically chose to focus all its resources on the core bespoke specialty businesses for multinational end-users and converters, a choice which has paid off handsomely already in the first two years in terms of mar-gins, profitability and volume growth as the business model grows in reputation and suc-cessful implementation. www.irplastgroup.com

    Amongst the latest innovations, special attention is deserved by the new versions of completely automatic apple wedger-chunker and apple ring slicer.

    The new MW apple wedger and chunker is in fact a compact ma-chine that allows cor-ing apples and cutting them into either seg-ments (wedge slices) or chunks (also called cubes).

    The horizontal cut unit may be disabled, thus allowing to switch from wedge slices to chunks in a matter of seconds.

    Moreover the blades may be very easily replaced, thus allowing to quickly change the

    coring size, the num-ber of segments and the dimension of the chunks, according to new production re-quirements. The changeover is re-ally a matter of few minutes! The machine is extremely compact and it includes the tank, the elevator and the orienting system for complete automat-ic feeding and opera-tion.

    The production capac-ity of the MW ranges from 300 to 900 kg/h, according to number of lanes.

    Another worthwhile piece of equipment is the MW-R apple ring slicer. This machine, which is designed for coring and slic-

    ing apples into rings, is particularly suitable for the fruit drying industry requiring very thin ring slices for production of apple chips. Features of this model again include: complete automatic feeding and operation, compactness (feed-ing tank, elevator and automatic orienting system), quick change-over of cutting unit for rapidly switching slice thickness and last but not least the ca-pacities ranging from 400 to 1200 kg/h.

    THE LATEST NEWS OF MARKING PRODUCTS SRL REGARDING INDUSTRIAL MARKING SYSTEMS EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED

    arking Products Srl, proposes the new industrial marking and cod-ing systems in

    continuous inkjet technol-ogy and laser by HITACHI.Hitachi, the world leader in continuous inkjet printing, offers the new UX Series definitely innovative than the previous and the new laser marker LM Series vec-torial CO2.The new laser marker LM Series is a concentration of technology. The design is very compact and is very reliable for the structure with dual protection and the particular distribution of the cooling air flow. The LM Series is available in two powers emission equal to

    10W and 30W and in three different wavelengths of 9.3 10.2 and 10.6 microns.In combination with avail-able options for the opti-cal unit it is possible print a wide range of materials including paper, cardboard, plastic, glass. The optical unit has been lightened in its components to obtain speed and precision of the move-ments but reducing the con-sumption. The entire project has the target to reduce con-sumption without minimally reduce the quality and the marking speed. It is possible make up to 600 cycles per second with a consumption less than 300VA.The main feature that distin-guishes the UX Series con-tinuous ink jet is the elimi-

    nation of tanks for ink and solvent and their replace-ment with cartridges. The goal is to reduce consump-tion and make the use even easier and less challenging to obtain a really reduction of operating costs and supplies.

    With the UX Series, Hitachi achieve this target by pro-posing a machine with great performance, able to print up to 6 lines of text with the character height from 2 to 10 mm and with remarkable speed. The inking system, based on the cartridges and the arrangement of the components are carefully studied to make quick and easy the maintenance. Also we have a single button to start and a single button to stop the machine without the problem of cleaning or other complicated and ex-pensive operations. Another aspect extremely refined is the user interface completely based on graphical icons with touch screen 10.4 col-or display and WYSIWYG functionality. The composi-tion of printing message becomes simple because the

    display shows the real repre-sentation of the final print.The RX2 Series mantains the classic arrangement with separate tanks for ink and solvent but them disposition and major components for normal maintenance are all close at hand and easily ac-cessible.The RX2 Series can print up to 5 lines with text, bar-codes, 2D codes and graph-ics with height from 2 to 10 mm. In RX2 the handling of printing messages is sim-plified by graphical editor that integrates a new feature very innovative and power-ful. It allows to place the textual or graphics contents anywhere within the print-ing area, for a better result in readability.The RX2 Series maintains the prerogative to have a button to start and a button

    to stop the machine without other operations to do.In terms of performance we are at the highest level and both UX and RX2 Series can be integrated in any type of installation and applica-tion.They are equipped with interfaces for connection to PLC and to Ethernet network. In addition there are specific options for automatic functions as the selection of messages, set a counter and other automatic operations to obtain the perfect integration with the production line.The range of markers in continuous inkjet Hitachi, includes the specific model for pigmented ink to be used on dark surfaces.Marking Products Srl has available the new units of Matthews-Marking System,

    for MPERIATM platform, that is continuing to expand and evolve. MPERIATM represents a new approach in industrial inkjet marking. It is based on a MPERIATM controller at which are connected VIAjetTM print-ing units independent. The MPERIATM controller, is an industrial PC with touch screen of 7, 12 or 15 equipped with a graphical user interface, that operates as control center for the whole printing system.The MPERIATM controller allows access to the confi gu-ration parameters of the en-tire system. It has available a sofi sticated graphical editor for the composition and correction of the printed messages with WYSIWYG function that shows im-mediately the fi nal result of printing. At the MPERIATM controller are connected, via network, the VIAjetTM printing units available in 3 different printing technolo-gies: L-series, T-series and V-series. The L-series is specifi c for inkjet high reso-lution printing. It is available in three printing heights: 12,5 25 and 50 mm. The quality and the print defi ni-tion allow the marking of every thing as text, bar code or graphics on cardboard,

    cartons, or other types of packaging always with exem-plary quality.For the L Series was created the entry-level version VIA-pack intended for simpler ap-plications but always with ab-solute print quality. In a single packaging they are present all the elements of the system immediately usable.

    The T Series allows high resolution inkjet printing and it is the best solution for carboard. It is available in two printing heights of 50 and 100mm and is a really alternative to thermal trans-fer printing of labels allow-ing real-time customization of neutral cartons.The V Series expands mark-ing technologies used on the MPERIATM platform intro-ducing the DOD (Drop On Demand) inkjet. It can print

    up to 128 mm in height by using the print head with 32 nozzles. The DOD has developed around micro-valves accredited to more than 6 billion activations, far beyond market standards. The wide choice of inks enables the marking of each type of surface for each type of application.

    The power of the MPERIATM platform is in the fl exibil-ity: in each system they can coexist simultaneously more VIAjet printing units of any technology and in indepen-dent way.Practically one MPERIATM controller can easily man-age printing across multiple production lines with totally different printing message from each other, so a single system can satisfy the neces-sity of all applications.
