A woman I loved once told me that loving me was ‘like drowning a flower.’

I’ve never understood what she meant by that.

I have my interpretations of what she said, yes.

But what she truly meant, I never thought to ask.

We were ending when the statement was made.

I walked away from her in anger at the comment.

All the while, ignorant of it’s meaning.

Just angry.

Maybe at her voice more so than her words.
