Journey started with “Consumption” based work culture
● Pool of highly skilled talent is very limited.
● Tough to retain good talent as there was little recognition and job satisfaction.
● High degree of pressure for re-work and deadlines due to lack of best practices/process causing folks to burn out
● Continuous struggle with Salary appraisals & matching competition job offers.
● Winning sales was a challenge due to lack of contribution achievements which indicated lower professional maturity.

Fast Forward 4 years● Drupal is becoming a serious career choice instead of just a
mere job technology in the community
● Companies beginning to realize the strategic importance of community.
● Encouraging their folks to host, volunteer, speak, and contribute at technical meetups, camps, and conferences.
● Social Status culture - Recognition in local community leading to job satisfaction as well as positive impacts on self worth
● Availability of Mentors in community for guiding and supporting further facilitated this transition.

Summary
● Ecosystems of Do-ocracy & community focused take time to evolve & mature.
● Be patient and supportive. India is transforming quickly from a Consumption-based → Contribution-based Open Source ecosystem. And the biggest strides are just around the corner.
● Judge companies based on their contributions & community involvement, not just the price on the front door.
