The Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic affiliates companies engaged in the research, development, production, trade and marketing of defence and security technology, materials and services.
It is an independent, non-political, not-for-profit, non-commercial, non-governmental organisation that was established in 1997. Since its foundation, it has been a respected and highly regarded partner to the Czech government and the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Defence, the Interior and Foreign Affairs, with which it has signed a number of agreements on co-operation.
The Defence and Security Industry Association maintains partner relations in the Czech Republic with other professional organisations such as the Czech Chamber of Com-merce and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic. It also works with the publishing house MS Line on the publication of the magazine Czech Defence Industry & Security Review which is a media platform for the Czech defence and security industry.
The association promotes the enterprise and business interests of its members in dialogue with Parliament, ministries and other bodies of the state administration. It has become a full partner and participant in legislative processes. It has contributed to the resolution of a number of issues facing the Czech defence and security industry as a whole by means of round table discussions and face-to-face talks with representatives of the state administration and legislative powers.
The Defence and Security Industry Association is a basic contact point for foreign institutions of a similar nature and helps companies from all over the world find suitable partners in the Czech Republic. Similarly, it also helps Czech manufacturers find foreign companies suitable for industrial co-operation.

The Defence and Security Industry Association supports companies in the Czech defence and security industry in their endeavour to expand onto foreign markets. It takes advantage of its position to promote the export policy of the Czech Republic and works with bodies of the state administration to further the export interests of its members.
The association supports the inclusion of the main specialised trade fairs and exhibitions at home and abroad on the list of events that enjoy state or EU support, helps exhibiting members secure applicable state support, holds price negotiations, and provides assistance with administration, publicity and promotion. The association contributes actively towards supporting the research and development activities of its member companies and aids in the formation of specialist groups for the comprehensive resolution of individual projects.
The association has become an indispensable mediator of co-operation on domestic and international soil. It facilitates the sharing of information on tenders, public orders and supply and demand among state institutions and industry. The Defence and Security Industry Association is engaged in events at the EU level within the scope of its membership of the -AeroSpace and Defence Industries
Association of Europe (ASD) and its activities at the European Defence Agency (EDA). The Defence and Security Industry Association is engaged in NATO within the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) and also works with the NSPA. The Defence and Security Industry Association is also active in education, organising training in the area of quality, standardisation and cataloguing in the security sector and defence industry with the help of European funds. The current president of the Defence and Security Industry Association is RNDr. Jiří Hynek. His presidency has been marked by significant development of the organisation and a doubling of the number of member companies.
