ORIENTATION DAY E ach session commences with an Orientation Day to acquaint the new students with the college culture and introduce them with the faculty and staff members. For this academic session, the Orientation Program was a 2 day event held on 9 th and 10 th of August, 2016. The program began with a meditation session conducted by Ms. Mani Goswami, Assistant Professor, DSPSR followed by an audio-visual presentation by Ms. Disha Thanai, Assistant Professor, DSPSR, highlighting the rules and regulations of the institution. This was followed by an ice breaking session in which a variety of activities and games were organized by Ms. Simran Kaur, Assistant Professor, DSPSR. The program provided the students with an opportunity to interact with the faculty members. The event was concluded with an inspiring address by Prof. Ravinder Vinayek, Director, DSPSR who welcomed the freshers and motivated them to work hard to achieve their goals. TEACHERS’ DAY T eacher’s Day was celebrated in Delhi School of Professional studies and Research on 5 th September 2016, with great pomp and show. A renowned “Management Wizard”, Professor T.N. Kapoor, former Vice Chancellor Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the function. Rtn CA A.K. Bhalla and Dr. R.P. Tulsian were the Guest of Honor. The event started with a welcome address by Dr. Anil K. Singh, Director General, DSPSR. Professor B.P. Singh, Chairman DSPSR, addressed the gathering of students, faculty members and supporting staff about the importance of Teacher’s Day and also highlighted the contributions made by honorable Chief Guest, Professor T.N. Kapoor in the field of DSPSR REVIEW A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER Vol. 3 No. 2 July 2016 – Sept. 2016 academics and administration. Professor T.N. Kapoor was felicitated by the Chairman Professor B.P. Singh, by conferring upon him “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Ms. Simran Kaur was felicitated with the Best Teacher Award (2015-2016) for her exemplary efforts in the growth of institution. Other faculty and non-faculty members were also given cash awards in order to acknowledge their sincere efforts and contribution to the institution. Members of Rotaract Club DSPSR were felicitated for their contribution in social responsibility activities during the last academic session. Merit holders of GTSE (Global Talent Search Examination) held in August 2016, were awarded with the cash prizes and certificates. This was followed by a cultural program which consisted of a vibrant array of scintillating cultural performances. Various dance and signing performances by the students of BBA & B.Com (H) were over whelming. A beautiful poem dedicated to all teachers was presented by a student of B.Com- 1 st Year. Towards the end, every faculty member was felicitated with a title and a gift. Then a number of teachers gave speeches and shared their views and experiences with the audience. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ravinder Vinayek, Director, DSPSR. the Chief Guest, Dr. D.K. Vaid, Dean Academics andProfessor, DSPSR. The event started with a spellbindingperformance of the students from all the years of BBA andB.COM (H) in different events with a mixed feeling of thrilland excitement. The bevy of events for the day included 100mrace, Tug of War, Lemon Race, Badminton, Table Tennis,Cricket, Foot Ball and Volley Ball. Interspersed among thesewas a mesmerizing performance by the boys’ participants of

Tug of War. All drew hearty applause from the crowd, a fittingappreciation for a week of hard work by Sports Team and allthe faculty members and staffs of DSPSR. The event drew toa close, with the declaration of the results and trophy andmedal distribution by Dr. Ravinder Vinayek, Director, DSPSR,Dr. D.K. Vaid, Dean Academics, DSPSR, along with all thefaculty members and staff of the college.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The Srimant Madhav Rao Scindia Memorial BloodDonation Camp was organized on 30th September,2016, at Delhi School of Professional Studies and

Research by RotaractClub of DSPSR incollaboration withRotary Blood Bankand Rotary Club ofDelhi Maurya.

The event was a greatsuccess with studentsand staff membersvolunteering for blooddonation. 82 units ofblood were collected atthe event.

FRESHER’S PARTY

Fresher’s Party for BBA (G) and B.Com (H) studentsbatch 2016-19 was organized on 09 September, 2016at Hotel Radisson Blu, Dwarka. The party was filled

with talent, music, excitement and enthusiasm. Every yearon the day of the Fresher’s Party, a boy and a girl studentfrom BBA (G) and B.Com (Hons), taken together, arenominated for the prestigious title of Mr. Fresher & Ms.Fresher and for which they have to go through three roundsof competitions, i.e. Introduction Round, Talent Round andQuestion & Answer Round. To add some more fun to theFresher’s Party, various other titles were also given such asMr. & Ms. Eve, Mr. & Ms. Best Dressed, Mr. & Ms. Hatke.

The title of Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher was awared to Md.Anas, B.Com (I shift) and Aastha Sharma, BBA (I Shift)respectively. The energy on the dance floor proved that thenew batch, with their level of enthusiasm will do great workin future. The photographs show the boys and girls in actionduring the party.

We at Delhi School of Professional Studies andResearch believe that for overall development ofthe students, theoretical knowledge and studies

SEMINAR BY ENTREPRENEURSHIPDEVELOPMENT CELL

A one day seminar was organized by Delhi School ofProfessional Studies and Research on 28th September,2016 on the topic of “ENTREPRENEURSHIP

DEVELOPMENT” for the final year students of B.Com (H).Prof. H.P. Singh, Chief Consultant & Senior Professor,

NIESBUD was invited as the speaker to address the studentson the theme. The students were briefed about the skillsneeded to be an entrepreneur.

SEMINAR ON CORPORATEEMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

Delhi School of Professional Studies and Researchorganized a one day seminar on the theme “Talk onCoroprate Employability Skills” on 29th September,

2016 for the students of BBA Second Year and B.Com (H)

Final Year. The founder of HR Club, Mr. Srinivasan Iyerwas the resource person for the seminar organized by thecollege. The students were briefed up about the national level

test organized by the HR Club and were also briefed aboutthe pattern and requirements of the test.

The students participated in large numbers which is reflectedin the pictures.

NEW FACULTY INDUCTION

Delhi School of ProfessionalStudies & Research wouldlike to welcome Dr.

Pratistha, Mrs. Monika Gulia andMs. Pargaya Jayaswal to the its everexpanding family.

Dr. Pratistha has done her Ph.D fromHaryana School of Business, GuruJambheshwar University of Science& Technology, Hisar, Haryana. Shequalified for Junior ResearchFellowship/ National Eligibility Testfor Lectureship in June, 2010. She hasher Master of Philosophy, M.Com and B.com from MaharshiDayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. Besides a richacademic background, Dr. Pratistha has many researchpublications to her credentials.

Mrs. Monika Gulia is an MBA in HR and Marketing fromMaharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak and a B.A.from Kurukshetra University (KU), Kurukshetra. She hasQualified UGC-NET in the subject of Management. She hassix years of vast teaching experience and many researchpapers to her credit.

Ms. Pragya Jayaswal holds an MBA degree fromGuru GobindSingh Indraprastha University. She has done her Honoursin English Literature from University of Delhi. She has alsoqualified the UGC-NET in Management (2015). She hasauthored and presented papers at National and InternationalConferences.

The paper has been published in the Research Journal of SocialScience and Management (ISSN: 2251 1571, Volume 6, Issue4, Publisher: The International Journal Research Publication).

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Sakshi Jain, a student ofDelhi School of ProfessionalStudies and Research,

made the college proud by securing2nd position in the Young TalentHunt Event (2016) hosted byInstitute of Tehnology & Science(Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad). TheGrand Finale of the quizcompetition, which saw 350participants, was held on 15th

April, 2016. Further, a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 was awardedto her.
