Fall,
Fall is a time in Vero , like most other parts of the country when we
start to decorate the house, invite a few friends over for late afternoon
conversation and maybe a football game, if they are SEC fans. Fall is
when we see the boat show signs, the art shows start to spring up here
and there and the Festival of Trees gets us in the mood for Christmas.
Fall, it is a great time of year.
Fall is also when we start to see moving trucks arrive, car haulers
unloading in front of gated communities and restaurants opening up af-
ter a short vacation for themselves. For Realtors it is when we start to
see listing activity pick up preparing for a “Season” of sale. So we look
back at the past 9 months to reflect on recent sales, we evaluate our in-
ventory to see what our competition is and we get ready. Will it be as
busy as it has been, well that will be hard to beat so we will wait and
see.
Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.

History of Vero Beach & Indian River County, Florida
Florida Land – Boom and Bust
The '20s were possibly the most important era in the development of Florida.
It was post World War I. The automobile had been invented which enabled
thousands of people from various walks of life to visit or migrate to the state
in carloads. Corporations were on the rise, and people from all classes had
money -- money for travel and investments. It was a time when almost any-
one could get rich, and Florida land was one of the ways. If one didn’t have
cash, credit was easy to obtain. Many who bought land in Florida never vis-
ited the state, but purchased property through ads.
Forbes Magazine warned that Florida land prices were not based on any-
thing solid such as the value of the land. All that was needed to price a par-
cel was someone willing to buy it. And in 1925, the inevitable began to hap-
pen. Land prices had soared to such heights that people stopped buying and
those who held land wanted to sell.

The Vero Beach Book Center gets all kinds of positive re-
views, on all the websites. What I like, that they have
done recently, is updated their website so that all their
upcoming events are easy to see. This store gets so may
authors to come and speak that it is very nice to be able
to plan accordingly. While there, make sure to check out
their Children's Bookstore next door. Fun for the entire
family plus, upstairs is their bargain store so log in, see
what’s going on, and go enjoy.

On the Home Front
As I stated at the beginning of this newsletter, we love the fall. We are big
SEC football fans so Saturday is a fun day at our home. My wife grew up
and went to LSU so we are Tiger fans, I have always been an Auburn fan,
my father went to UF so we are Gator fans and I grew up in Atlanta so we
cheer for the Georgia Bulldogs too. On top of that we have a 6 year old so we
love to decorate for Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas. And
as Fall settles in we will too, home is so important to us and the feeling of
family is one that is like no other. We have truly been blessed. I pray you
have been too. We welcome the fall with open arms.
