Documentation...to the EXTREME.D.T. Outfitters
Liz Rutledge | February 10, 2011| Major Studio: Interactivity
The life of a DT student = documentation =
gadgets, gadgets, gadgets!
designers have already addressedwhere to put it all when we’re home...
...but what happens when we’re out there, documenting the real world?
smart phones help consolidate devicesfor more portable functionality...
...but to get higher quality documentation, you need higher quality equipment
so how are we supposed tocarry all this crap?
let’s review some other existing strategies forschlepping around life’s essentials
everyone’s favorite accessory:the fanny pack!
and from the other side of the machismo spectrum:holsters: the convenient way to pack heat
versatile convenience without the concealment:the classic tool belt
some precedents of “reinterpreted” carrying devices(who doesn’t need a tequila holster?)
some slightly more relevantholster-inspired carrying devices
OUTFITTERS
Introducing D.T. Outfitters’ newest product: the DocuBelt!
All your documentation needsorganized and at your fingertips!
OUTFITTERS
with all your gadgets on you all the time, you’ll never miss a shot.
and coming soon from DT Outfitters...the USB Flash Drive Pendant!
Why do we even have all of these technological artifacts?
And why is it that they look so ridiculous strapped to my waist, but wouldn’t draw a second glance on a day to day basis?
Question: do we really need all this stuff?
the real question:have we become slaves to our own tools and craft?
we have chosen a path that requires a dependence on these devices...but can we find a better way to coexist?
thankYou.
