All year: Signing of DBMD program agreement
DBMD agreement should be reviewed and signed by September 30 in order to allowstudents to apply and be accepted for the following fall semester. After the agreementhas been approved, each university will submit two copies of the agreement to theiruniversity’s president or approved designated representative for signature.
January – February
Apply to DBMD program
Students must applyonline through TempleUniversity’s graduateapplication. See the DBMD website forinformation on majoroptions, applicationprocedure, and requireddocumentation atwww.temple.edu/international/dbmd.
DBMD applicationdeadline for falladmission is March 1.

Prospective studentscommunicate with theGlobal Programs officerwith questions they mayhave about DBMD viaemail and/or Skype calls.

Temple visits Partner Schools
Temple University program officers will visitpartner institutions andmeet prospective students during a two-hour informationsession to answerquestions and shareinformation about theDBMD program. Templealso provides DBMDpromotional materials to partner schools.
March – April
Application review
Students will receive an automatic emailconfirmation when theirapplication has beenreceived. When the online Graduate Schoolapplication is submitted,students must create an account with ausername and password.Updates about admissionstatus are availablethrough this applicationaccount or by [email protected].
August
DBMD students arrive atTemple for the fallsemester
Orientation for inter-national students will takeplace in mid-August withclasses beginning at theend of August.
May – June
Admission into DBMD program
Once students areadmitted into the DBMDprogram, the GlobalPrograms officer will work with the designatedrepresentative at thepartner institution andappropriate facultymembers to finalize anindividual study plan that allows students tocomplete both degrees.Course evaluations and credit transfer are done on a student-by-studentbasis.

How does the DBMD program work?
DBMD is an accelerated degree program that is available to Temple University’spartner institutions with whom Templehas a signed agreement. After completingthe first three years and most of therequired undergraduate courses at thehome institution, successful candidatesarrive at Temple University in the fourthyear, as full-time graduate studentsenrolled in a participating master’sdegree. In years four and five, DBMDstudents complete all course require-ments for both degrees. Upon successfulcompletion of the five-year program,students receive their Bachelor’s degreefrom their home institution and theirMaster’s degree from Temple University.
Are students required to finish theprogram in two years?
No. Most students are able to completethe program in two years; however,students are not required to complete theprogram in a specific amount of time andare able to take additional time necessaryto complete their degrees or pursueresearch opportunities.
Frequently Asked questions
There are students interested in theprogram, but they missed the March 1deadline for fall admissions or are in theirfourth year of study. Can they still apply to the program?
Yes. Students are still able to enter theDBMD program in the spring or duringtheir fourth year of study. The applicationdeadline for spring admission is August 1.
How are courses taken at TempleUniversity evaluated for degreecompletion at the home institution?
Students accepted into the program havealready completed most of their under-graduate course work and typically needonly a few undergraduate coursesevaluated to complete their degree.Therefore, course evaluations and credittransfer are done on a student-by-studentbasis after the student is accepted intothe DBMD program. Temple’s GlobalPrograms officer works with thedesignated representative at the partnerinstitution and appropriate facultymembers to develop an individual studyplan that allows students to completeboth degrees.
What are the entry requirements for theDBMD program?
Entrance requirements vary according to the program in which the studentchooses to enroll. Graduate programrequirements can be found by degreeprogram at www.temple.edu/gradbulletin. Students have the bestchance of being admitted if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Minimum TOEFL® Internet-based(iBT) 79; 100 for some programs. IELTS™ Academic 6.5
• GPA of 3.5/4.5 (3.0/4.0 orapproximately 80%)
• Students must have completed most of the required coursework for their Bachelor’s degree. Anyremaining undergraduate courseswill have to be completed inconcurrence with, or in addition to,the graduate courses required forthe master’s degree.
• Completed undergraduate course-work meets most of the academicprerequisites of the graduateprogram. For instance, to apply tomost business programs, studentsmust have taken quantitativecourses (in statistics and calculus)and/or management courses whilestudents applying to the MedicalSchool programs must have com-pleted advanced science courses (in life sciences, biochemistry,chemistry, or biology).

How do students apply?
Students must submit an onlineapplication to Temple’s graduate schoolat www.temple.edu/grad/admissions/international.htm and then send sup-porting application materials to TempleUniversity’s Office of International Affairs.Supporting documentation includes:
• DBMD Individual Study Plan filledout by student and signed bydepartment chair at home institution.
• Statement of Goals
• Official test scores for TOEFL or IELTS
• Official grade transcript (original and English translation in sealedenvelope)
• Three letters of recommendationfrom professors or project super-visors with whom the student hascompleted a course or an internshipwithin the past 24 months (preferablyin sealed envelopes)
• Completed Application forCertificate of Eligibility Form
• Financial documentation demon-strating student’s ability to supportall educational costs (tuition,university fees, books) and livingcosts (rent, health insurance, food,entertainment) during the two yearsof the DBMD program. Acceptabledocuments include bank statementsof balance, savings certificate, orinvestment bonds.

How soon after a student applies willstudents receive a decision?
Graduate admission decisions arereviewed by the academic department towhich the student chooses to apply, andtherefore decision times vary dependingon the volume and admission criteria forthat department. Most decisions arecompleted within 4-6 weeks afterstudents submit a complete applicationpackage to Temple University. Whenstudents apply to the graduate school,they are required to create an accountwith a username and password. What is Temple’s tuition?
DBMD students pay tuition to TempleUniversity during the last two years of theDBMD program. The 2011 tuition for oneyear is currently estimated at $24,500(including university-wide fees), but doesvary by academic program. Graduatestudents take 9-12 credit hours persemester, in graduate or undergraduateclasses. (Any courses taken during thesummer sessions are not covered by the tuition amount specified above.)Tuition rates by program are subject tochange; visit www.temple.edu/bursarfor current rates.
Does Temple offer scholarshipopportunities or graduateassistantships?
Yes. Full-time DBMD students are eligible to receive up to $5,000 per year inscholarship funds based upon theiracademic performance at the time ofenrollment. This scholarship is reviewedevery semester, and students are eligibleto continue receiving the award provided
their academic performance continues to meet the scholarship requirements.Students are also eligible to apply forgraduate assistantships in their secondyear which are reviewed by individualdepartments and if awarded, can provide students with up to 100% tuition remission.
Where can students find information onhousing and meal plans? Do they haveto live on campus?
Students have the option to live either on- or off-campus. Global Programshelps find on-campus housing forstudents. Information on housing and meal plans can be found atwww.temple.edu/housing.
How soon after the students completetheir undergraduate degree at Templecan the home institution receive theirtranscripts to award their bachelor’sdegree? If they do not complete theirrequirements in the first semester atTemple, are they still able to begin theirgraduate work in the second semester?
Temple University will release thestudent’s official transcript after thestudent’s semester grades are posted. If the student is finishing their springsemester, they should receive their transcript by mid-July. Likewise, if they are completing their fall semester, theyshould be able to receive their transcriptsby early February. If for some reasonstudents are unable to complete theirundergraduate degree requirements in the first semester, they are still able tocontinue their graduate coursework in the second semester in addition to any undergraduate coursework they may need to take in order to completetheir degree.
