Day 01 ILULISSATArrive in Ilulissat which means icebergs, which is rather self-explainatory once you get to see the beautiful Ice Fjord and the numerous icebergs majestically fl oating around in the fjord lit up by an almost magical light caused by refl ections of the sun. The hotel shuttle van will pick you up at the airport. Our local representative will brief you about the city, the area, dining and excursion possibilities.

Day 02 ILULISSAT (B)Walk to Sermermiut Settlement – 2 hours A trip to Sermermiut is an absolute must when visiting Ilulissat. Beautiful icebergs are the setting for the old settlement Sermermiut, located one and a half kilometers south of Ilulissat. An area so special that UNESCO named it World Heritage in 2004. Hear the guide tell stories about Inuit people’s life and traditions before the Europeans came to Greenland. See turf hut ruins and touch the permafrost with your own hands. For 4000 years, different Inuit cultures lived in the settlement and today you can still see many remains that indicate their presence. We follow the walkway to the viewpoint at Nakkaavik - “the place to fall” (Old Ladies Gorge), here our guide serves tea or coffee while we enjoy the view, then we return by the same route. Day 03 ILULISSAT (B)Sailing among Iceberg – 2 ½ boat trip Almost every visitor in Ilulissat chooses to try this boat trip among the icebergs at least once. See gigantic icebergs, which can be more than 100 meters on each side and with a height on more than 100 meters above the water surface. The icebergs are beautiful in every kind of weather; in the sunshine the contrasts are very clear, the blue shades are seen best when it is cloudy and the midnight sun casts a unique glow on the icebergs

during the night. Midnight sun in Ilulissat lasts from May 21st to July 24th. The midnight/evening sun gives the icebergs a unique play of colors that people return to experience again and again. Sailing during the night with the sun still shining is a fantastic and unusual experience; you do not want to be without, while visiting Ilulissat. Please notice: Remember warm clothes. It is cold out in the Icefi ord both summer and winter. Coffee and tea will be served onboard. The excursion will last about 2½ hours.

Day 04 ILULISSAT (B)After an intense experience, it is time to say your goodbyes to Ilulissat and Grenland, who are likely to have made quite an impressions on you that will sparkl a special feeling and fl ash a series of indelible mental images whenever you hear the world Greenland mentioned in the future. Departure transfer by hotel shuttle van to the airport.

OptionalsWINTER ONLY (November – April)Northern Lights Safari 1½ hourAurora Borealis is the night sky’s most spectacular phenomenon. Solar storms over the polar region provide the best conditions to see the Northern Lights in Greenland, and the winter darkness let us experience it almost every day in Ilulissat.

Snowmobile Excursion 3 hoursOn this tour you experience the thrill of driving a snowmobile. During the tour we will cross frozen lakes and mountains with breathtaking views of the bay and the Disko Island, until we fi nally cross the frozen sea to reach Oqaatsut. Here we will take a break, drink coffee or tea and have time to discover the settlement and its traditional way of life.

Dog Sled Tour The dog sledge is one of the strongest icons of Greenland. An Inuit tradition, dating 2000 years back in time! You will not fi nd many other means of transportation, which has survived for so long without any changes. The basic principle is still the same as in the Viking age; some dogs tied to a simple construction of wood. The experience cannot be explained – you have to try it.

SUMMER ONLY (June-September)Whale Watching 3 ½ hourIt surprises most people how great an experience it is to get close to such large animals like whales.

Day tour to Eqi Glacier – calving glacier Only few places in Greenland are as beautiful as the Eqi Glacier, which ends in the fi ord 80 kilometres north of Ilulissat. It is possible by boat to get very close to the glacier and experience huge pieces of ice breaking off. The sounds are enormous and the sight of the icebergs, crashing into the water, is breathtaking.

What to choose?A new place and a wide range of trips – Yes, it can be diffi cult to choose. The fi rst thing you need to choose is whether you want to go in winter or summer. From November to April we have winter in Greenland and dog sledging will be your primary goal, if you want to see northern lights this is also the season. Boat trips and shorter hikes are also possibly and the classic helicopter fl ight to the ice sheet. If you want to experience the midnight sun, longer boat trips, hiking and more of the Disco Bay area, you should choose summer time. Our main attraction is without any doubt the Ilulissat Icefi ord which is on the UNESCO world heritage list. We say that there are 3 ways to experience this; from land, from the seaside and from the air – you need all 3 experiences to get the full picture of this amazing and unique nature phenomenon.
