For over 20 years, Dr. Bernard Franklin, Kansas State '75 has advised and worked with undergraduate men’s fraternities and other men’s organizations. For

the past five years, he has served on DU’s Board of Directors as President of the Fraternity. With such perspective, he’s simply not satisfied with the role fraternities—including DU—currently play on college campuses and in preparing their members to be competitive in an ever-evolving global marketplace. America depends on college fraternities to produce leaders, but Dr. Franklin isn’t convinced we will meet that demand unless we reexamine our priorities and recommit to our principles. Join Dr. Franklin to learn more about his assessment of DU and the entire fraternal community, and what each of us can do to ensure DU achieves its vision to be the premier men’s fraternity committed to Building Better Men for a global society through service, leadership development, and lifelong personal growth of our diverse membership.

DELTA UPSILON EMERGING LEADERS EXPERIENCEEARLY JUNE, 2012

The Delta Upsilon Emerging Leaders Experience (DUEL) is a five-day inclusive program. This program is uniquely designed to help young leaders prepare to meet the challenges and responsibilities in life and in their chapter.

Each participant develops his unique leadership strengths and gains an understanding of the shared-values and vision of a chapter leader and dissects the philosophies of the Fraternity’s heritage through activities and discussions.

By cultivating future chapter leaders early in their Delta Upsilon experience, the Fraternity creates greater potential for both personal and chapter success.

This hands-on experience brings a different perspective as each attendee retraces the footsteps of our Founders during a retreat to our founding site at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

GLOBAL SERVICE INITIATIVELATE MAY, 2012

The Delta Upsilon Global Service Initiative (GSI) offers members a unique opportunity to engage in direct service, while uniting Delta Upsilon competencies and principles with the customs and cultures of the Negril, Jamaica community. Members travel to, study in, and work with this community where social and economic conditions are substandard.

During the global experience, members engage in a variety of cultural, educational, recreational and reflective activities. Participants will roll up their sleeves to build or rebuild in areas of need, teach literacy skills to children and engage in dialogue of social justice with other Delta Upsilon members.
