1 st November 2016 Dear Parent/Carer Re: Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award I am writing to inform you of an important meeting for parents and carers of Year 10 students who are interested in completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award during the academic year. The meeting will outline the programme of activity as well as key dates and costs, and take place on Tuesday 15 th November 2016 at 6.00pm. Every year tens of thousands of teenagers take part in this programme. Committing to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award allows young people to get involved in activities they might not normally do and be rewarded for activities that are already an important part of their lives. As will be outlined at the presentation, students will be required to show development in a physical activity, a skill, as well as make a commitment to voluntary work. They will also undertake an expedition which in many cases opens eyes for the first time to the great outdoors of Kent! Universities and employers alike look very favourably upon young people who have this award. As competition for university and work places shows little sign of easing we believe it is important to give our students as many advantages as possible. The costs for the programme need to be finalized but we envisage parental contribution to be under £150 depending on numbers. This will include registration, an extensive training programme, and the costs for practice and qualifying expedition weekends. Training will be at the school and expeditions will be held at the Kent Duke of Edinburgh Award Centre at Swattenden.

Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award

I am writing to inform you of an important meeting for parents and carers of Year 10 students who are interested in completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award during the academic year. The meeting will outline the programme of activity as well as key dates and costs, and take place on Tuesday 15th November 2016 at 6.00pm.

Full details of the programme and the range of activities your child will be signing up to will be available that evening. There will be an opportunity to ask any questions about this scheme.

Your son/daughter has already attended an assembly and is aware of this opportunity. The majority of students in Year 10 have already indicated that they would like to take part. Please can you make note of the date of this meeting and make every effort to attend if your son/daughter is interested in taking part.

I look forward to meeting you.

Yours sincerely
