During world war II the United states government needed to conserve many materials so they could supply for the army. In order to make sure everyone got their fair share, they rationed.

In world war two, citizens of the United States didn't just have the freedom to walk into a store and buy whatever you wanted to buy; even if you did have enough money. So they used ration tickets, you had to have a ration ticket in order to complete your purchase.

Like everything else in World War II, oil was conserved. Not only because there was a limited supply, but because if cars used less oil, then they’d conserve their tires which would save rubber. Which was almost impossible to find.

The Government required any Vehicle that used Gasoline to have a ration sticker. Most had ration sticker “A”. which allowed 4 gallons of fuel per week. The green 'B' sticker was for driving deemed essential to the war effort; industrial war workers, for example, could purchase eight gallons a week.  Red 'C' stickers indicated physicians, ministers, mail carriers and railroad workers.  'T' was for truckers, and the rare 'X' sticker went to members of Congress and other VIPs.

Carpooling was extremely common to conserve Gasoline, Tires, And Auto parts. The main speed encouraged at this time was 35 miles per hour. This was also referred to as the “victory speed”.

Food such as meats, canned foods, sugars and highly rationed. Most American families had what was called a “victory garden”. This was just a garden grown in backyards to create their own produce.

Each person was allotted 48 points a month to spend on canned goods, which was very little.

They also substituted sugar for other sweet things such as fruit, honey, vanilla, and corn syrup.

The government is still struggling with providing for everyone in the country, primarily concerning health care. Most people believe health care should be given to them no matter what; they should be taken care of without question.

Rationing health care is when a person is denied health care because it costs to much money. For example, suppose there’s a patient with a type of cancer that will make them die instantly. Now suppose there's a medicine that’s 36,000 dollars, but will allow the patient to live for an extra month. Is it worth it? If you said no, then you support healthcare rationing.
