PAT SAVAGE
Download or Buy the CD direct from the website
www.savageroads.comWe're so excited to be part of this fantastic new album and adventure into country biker roads music. An all acoustic outing, this amazing album features some of Pat's hits done acoustically and unplugged in new styles for him. Hits like Chasing The Clouds, Ridin Hard Livin Free and Harley Man are reborn on this collection, and in a whole new way! Savage Steel is also charged with great new songs written in many different styles: Country, Folk and Blues with a back porch singing hillbilly flavour. A bunch of biker bros jamming at a biker BBQ party!
“With soulful melodies and toe tapping tunes, this album crosses genres and unites all tastes & persuasions” “Pat Savage…you’ve delivered a gift, which captures the imagination and essence of a great sound that becomes your best riding buddy on a long winding road”
Editorial “…And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be”
McCartney, Dillon, Lennon
In this issue, respect has been paid to those who contribute, dream and share their creative souls with the rest of us, but also we’ve paid our dues to women from the biking world.
We’ve searched around the world enticing talented ladies with great life stories, to sit around the campfire with us and tell their tales…and we couldn’t be happier.
Much is said about divides, whether in wider society or even within the biking community at large. In truth we are all different, we are all independent of thought and desires, but we all have a voice and we are equal.
This publication stands resolute on that principle. If there is a talent to showcase, if there is an interesting life story to tell…then no matter who you are, no matter where you are from, what you look like and what your gender is…there will always be place at our table…to sit, eat, drink wine (or not) and tell tall tales.
We invite everyone, we welcome anyone! We operate in a ‘Zone of Mutuality’ whereby we seek out those that can shine…if a light were shone on them, and those that can sing if their voices could be heard. We are both spotlight and microphone stand. Open your eyes, widen your ears and enter our world.
We are the stage, you are the attraction…your audience awaits! The today is bright, the tomorrow is loud, hop on our ride as we yell proud!

DURO RIDER Gazette ISSUE SIX
Paul Richardson’s PURE GOLD GL1100
You know what I love about this biking world? It’s certain that somewhere, someone is beavering away in a home garage or shed and they’re talents create some true rolling art. Once again we went out fishing for home builders, raw talent and cool looking bikes…and once again we were inundated with some fab works…no more so that Paul Richardson who answered the rallying cry and who contacted us.
He asked if we’d be interested in his latest build. So once viewed and after falling off my chair whilst howling with delight (don’t worry…it’s just something I do) I, of course, replied with great eagerness. This is Paul’s reworked GL1100 and this is his build!“I really try to reuse as much as possible since i'm usually skint. So when I bought it, it was a tatty standard GL1100. First thing I did was attack it with all manner of blunt objects until I was down to the bare bones.
I then took all the fairing and other grubby 80's paraphernalia and sold it all to the magical world known as ebay. I then used these funds to start the project in earnest. I stripped it down to nuts and bolts. Tore down the engine (although it didn't need much work apart from new valve stem rubbers and some threads repaired)
Replaced all bolts with stainless steel. Stainless steel exhaust system from ebay £80. Repainted the frame and polished up all the aluminium. Made some radiator aluminium surrounds since the standard ones no longer suited it.
I cleaned up the instrumentation by moving the ignition switch and junking the bulky rev counter and speedo. Replaced them with a mini speedo that sits in the scolloped out area on the top yoke that originally housed the ignition switch, although I had to enlarge it slightly to make the speedo a snug fit.
Due to the sizeable girth of the bike the original bars looked tiny so I replaced them with 1 1/2 inch western bars from manufacturer Burley. There was just enough room in the standard headstock bar clamps to widen them.
The original controls all had just enough room to be used once they were widened out. Next was to get rid of the Goldwing’s less than stellar air assisted front suspension that Honda obviously thought was a good idea in the 80’s. (like mullet hair cuts and the Europe album ‘The Final Countdown’ Who am I kidding! I bought it and I still love it).
The standard stanchions were shot, so after spending a day searching thru the friendly neighbourhood breakers yard I found what I was looking for. A pair of VN750 fork legs. I wanted slightly longer front forks and the VN's were perfect as they were only 2 inches longer.
I didn't want anything longer since I wasn't cutting the frame. Also I didn't want to mess with the look I was going for. The idiot light were made out of aluminium edging from b&q. And some LED's and resisters from Maplins electronic store.
Although tempted to not put a mudguard on the front due to living in Wales, UK. This would have been a step too far as I wanted this as my day to day bike use and not get soaked when it rained. Therefore I used the original mudguard but reshaped it and mounted the internal supports on the outside of the mudguard because they look too pretty to be hidden.
I cut down the seat by about an inch and reshaped it overall with a circular sander to flow into the lines of the reshaped rear mudguard. Again the rear mudguard was the original unit but changed with the help of some filler and fibre glass. Last but not least I finished the paint off with a blue candy over a course metallic silver.

DURO RIDER Gazette ISSUE SIX
I’m based on Gower near Swansea, South Wales UK where I predominantly ride. I chose the Goldwing to customise because of a variety of reasons. I wanted a bike with a solid power plant that could cruise all day. I always thought that under all the plastic 80's crap they had a lot of potential. Also building and customising bikes for me is therapeutic and has an almost meditative effect on my brain (no, seriously! lol ) That's why I like the GL engine…it’s honest. You can get in there, strip it down and it's a pleasure to work on (most of the time.)
Job wise I have a variety of work to keep me out of the poor house. I used to make surfboards for a living. Doing the glassing and airbrushing on them for other local companies and making them for my own company.
When it became clear there was no money in this. I ended up working for a guy doing large scale airbrush murals all round the country. In hotels, fairgrounds and larger vehicles and trailers. He has just retired recently so I'm currently working nights and mornings doing bat conservation studies. That's right I'm BATMAN! Weirdly no one finds that as funny as myself.
Most of the work on this bike and all my bikes I build were done in my spare room and a dilapidated 6 man tent in my garden. My long suffering girlfriend has the patience of a saint and only occasionally flicks cigarettes at my head shouting: "You love your bike, your surfboards, and the cats before me!”
While I work away grinding reshaping, fibre glassing, welding and generally building stuff. She is a star I love her. Hopefully we are moving and I'll get to have a proper workshop like a big boy to create even wackier stuff to ride”
I love what this artistic wizard has done with this old Goldwing. It smacks of beach front cruising whilst listening to Jan & Dean on the radio…This is ocean blue cool surf wave riding on two wheels. Paul has taken this old lump…a walloping hippo of a bike and made it into modern , sleek with a shady style…DRAFTride. This would be perfect on a glorious summer evening ride out…but the real beauty is that underneath, it’s got the strength to go anywhere…everyday. We Love it…We Salute You Paul

Aussie Latina Model: Stephanie Verenisse
Zapata-Lizano
DURO RIDER Gazette ISSUE SIX
In this issue we’re proud to feature an Australian re-emerging model whose perfectly proportioned body of work has thus far seen her being featured in some notable Aussie bike & car magazines and has been a promoters delight.
22yr old Stephanie who’s based out of the Western Suburbs in Sydney was born and raised in Australia but saw her spend some time in Central America due to her Columbian & Nicaraguan heritage…’MUY CALIENTE!’
This red hot chilli pepper Latina mamma is a scorching delight and is currently working closely with premiere custom bike builders on a few projects, some of which we’ll be featuring in the future issues.
We got to speak to this young belleza natural (natural beauty) and this is what she told us: “I love to model and it just feels like a natural thing to do. I’ve always wanted to do it since I was really young and got spotted on a beach a few years ago to do some promo shots…and it took off from there. I got published in various magazines over here in Australia but then I had some time away from it for a couple of years.
Now, I’ve returned to modelling as a first love and something that I feel completely connected to. I’ve been getting quite a few offers recently from various sources but I’m trying to take it into a specific direction and hopefully do more bike shoots too which will be really cool.
I’m really looking forward to working on various themes and different genres but I’ll be staying away from nude or topless as that’s just not my thing really”

“A little bit of madness, insanity and a
whole lot of foolishness, that is me.
From the beginning to the end, it's a
madness that keeps me sane. Keeps me
from plunging through to the other side,
chains me down so as not to escape into a
permanent disarray of obscurity.
In short, I'm just a biker whose demons
always come knocking so I write, tattoo,
ride and build bikes to keep said demons
from having an idle playground inside
my head.
For as long as I can remember two
wheels have been a part of my life. From
a young age of ridin' mini bikes to
choppin' my first trump at age 15 to
starting my life long adventure into
every changing world of custom
Harleys at the age 17.
I've owned and operated a custom bike
shop and a couple of tattoo shops. I've
been from border to border and coast to
coast. I love every aspect of the biker
life and world whether it be the people,
the places or just getting lost in the
wind. Along the way I've written about
every mile of it in my own way.
Highway Writings is a taste of my life,
from love, addiction, my personal
demons and people I admire as mentors,
brothers and those that have made an
impact on my life in one way, shape,
form or another”
