Riviera Little League
On March 7th the National Diamond-
backs and Dodgers squared off in a
well played slugfest.
The Dodgers, led by impact bats Aidan
Sullivan, Sky Shaw and Mason Scully
raced off to a 12-6 lead after 4 innings.
After a slow start that saw the
Diamondbacks struggle mightily against the vaunted
machine, their offense got going thanks to sparkplugs Mario Morales Safah and
Caleb Hill. With those two setting the tables it was up to the middle of the order
to deliver and Mason Debraal, Noah Cardenas and Cole
Zimmerman were more than up to the task.
In the bottom of the 5th the Diamondbacks put up a
five run inning with contributions from the entire
lineup. With the defense finally clicking on all cylinders
the Diamondbacks kept the Dodgers off the board and
went into their last at bat
down 12-11. Once again the
bottom of the order came through loading the bases
and from there the floodgates opened and the home
team came away with a 14-12 win. The Diamond-
backs look forward to working on tightening up their
defense and building on their late game heroics.

Situation: A batter hits a grounder and runs through first
base. The batter turns to his left and stays inside fair territory
as he returns to first base. The first baseman tags the runner
as he returns to first base. Umpire calls the runner safe.
Is the umpire correct?

Dear Riviera Little League Families, Each week RLL puts out “The Diamond Dust”. The Diamond Dust is available at the Snack Shack on Saturdays and for download on the RLL web site in full color. In order to produce the newsletter each week I need your help. I am looking for article and picture submissions. Without your help I can not produce The Diamond Dust. Please email me pictures of games your watching. It’s a great way to get YOUR team into The Diamond Dust. Good articles include great games, team events and other RLL activities. Remember when writing articles to keep them in the spirit of Riviera Little League. Articles about games should be positive and include information about both teams. We may edit submissions for content and length or reject inappropriate articles.
Please send your submissions, pictures, and suggestions. The deadline is each week on Thursday by noon to be included in that weeks Diamond Dust. Thanks for your time and help! Kirk Adams

Stump the Ump… (Answer)
Situation: Right – Rule 7.08 – The batter-runner may turn left or right, provided that if he
turns left he does not make an attempt to advance. An attempt is a judgment made by the
umpire. The requirement is that the runner must immediately return to first after overrunning
or over sliding it.
Special Thanks to
Carolin Hanses, Mike Hirsh,
Rich Contino and
