nqr.farmonline.com.au ADVERTORIAL North Queensland Register, March 27, 2014 — Page 13 Tough vehicles for every work environment M AHINDRA has just arrived at Motoco Group Townsville, offering a new line of tough but affordable range of vehicles. Motoco Group sales manager Michael McDonald said Mahindra’s SUV, the XUV500 dual-cab Genio, and 4x4 Pik-Up, arrived just over a week ago and are packed full of features for every work environment. “We saw a need for a strong, tough, reliable and affordable 4x4 ute and dual-cab range. Mahindra has also just released its take on the SUV and we have that in stock as well,” Michael said. The dual-cab Genio is unlike any other car in its range with a 2700mm dropside tray – bigger than any other car in its class. Mahindra Genio is the next step in redefining convenience and comfort in the commercial transport space with an aerodynamic body that delivers a payload of more than 1.2 tonnes. Powered by the mHAWK turbo diesel engine, the Genio is a product of modern engineering, and is filled with big ideas that boast its efficiency and reliability. If you are looking for safety at work, the Genio provides its driver with the standard anti- lock braking system (ABS), dual SRS airbags, an encrypted key- recognition system that rejects duplicated keys and cuts off fuel supply to the engine, preventing theft, and crumple zones to absorb most of the impact in the case of collision. All these safety features come with a plush interior designed for a premium feel for both driver and passengers alike, so you won’t even feel like it is a work car. The Genio’s older brother, the 4x4 Pik-Up, also combines space and comfort on the inside with tough and reliable on the outside. If you are knee-deep in muck and don’t know what to do, you don’t have to worry. With Eaton’s state-of-the-art mechanical locking differential system, the Pik-Up will react to wheel speed differences and automatically lock the rear axle. The result: you keep going non-stop over sand, snow, muck, ice, rocks or whatever. The Pik-Up also comes with the mHAWK turbo diesel engine with 120bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. But you don’t have to worry about wasting fuel – the Pik-Up has superior fuel economy of 9.1L/100km. Tough doesn’t have to mean rough, and the Pik-Up’s interior is proof of that. When you step inside the Pik-Up, you’ll wonder where the beast disappeared. Acres of leg room, head room and elbow room await you. It has all the features of the Genio plus 12V mobile charging slots – not only in the front but also the rear – great ground clearance, a robust chassis and can carry the load when required. There are also a number of Mahindra Mine Spec Pik-Up options available. To test-drive a tough but affordable, safety and comfort-conscious Mahindra vehicle, contact the Motoco Group Townsville sales team on (07) 4729 5299, or visit the team at 16-18 Bowen Road. Mahindra leaps into SUVs T OWNSVILLE’S Pat Smith considers his XUV500 his best Mahindra yet, and now on his fourth one, he’s something of an authority on the subject. The stylish new 2.2-litre turbo diesel seven-seater car is Mahindra’s fiercely competitive leap into the popular mid-size SUV market, and the most sophisticated design yet for a brand which is rapidly gaining the interest of savvy vehicle buyers such as 61-year-old Pat. “I first had a Mahindra as a work ute to run round in out of town, or to run up to Charters Towers, and I thought, you know, these things aren’t too bad,” Pat said. Since then, Pat has had three four-wheel drives, including a dual cab he drove right to the tip of Cape York and back, and now the XUV500. “I don’t need a ute for work any more so I thought I’d try a bit of luxury, and boy, is it luxury. Tony (Mahindra’s national after-sales manager) told me how good they were and I thought, ‘Yeah, you hear this all the time’, so I tried it for myself and it was great,” he said. “I’ve just come back from a 4500-kilometre trip in the SUV and I just love it. “It’s so comfortable to drive and gets terrific fuel economy from a 74-litre tank. I was about to fill up at 979km and pressed that dial to find I still had 112km to empty.” With its leather seats, chilled centre console, sat-nav, six airbags, 6-inch multimedia display and much more, the XUV500 is redefining the customer’s expectations of just how many features a car can fit into a $30,000 price point. “I like all the features like the reversing camera, the side steps and nudge bars, and I use the GPS all the time. The blue tooth connectivity is very handy – being able to talk on the phone without taking your hands off the wheel – and the cruise control I use all the time,” Pat said. “The best thing to me is the six-speed box. Most others in the class are five-speeds and it made a big difference – that’s where the fuel economy comes from, I’m sure. “For handling, I give it 9 out of 10. After the trip I just had, I found it excellent. I drove from Townsville down to Brisbane and then on to Singleton to see the grandkids, and myself and my wife were quite comfortable. The leather seats are very good.” Pat said the 4WD was just as good on rougher terrain. He drove his XUV500 to the Cape and said it never missed a beat. “I found it very well geared for the sand and mud and everything. One time I found this V8 Land Cruiser bogged and I went right down the side of him and got through. Then I asked him if he wanted me to pull him out. He wouldn’t let me,” Pat laughed. Both in Australia and around the world, the exceptional interest in India’s first global SUV has led to sales of more than 75,000 XUV500s in just over two years, and prompted Discovery Channel’s film Inside Out on the making of the Mahindra XUV500. Pat Smith is super impressed with the XUV500’s fuel economy. A $100 fuel voucher is up for grabs from Motoco Group Townsville. The new and used car dealership has recently stocked its yard with Mahindra’s latest range, including the Mahindra Pik-Up (pictured). But sales manager Michael McDonald thinks the car needs a better name to suit what he believes is the complete package. He invites all people to decide a hardy name for this 4x4 that can take on any terrain, and is built with super-strong components and a throw-anything-at-it design. Simply email through your suggestions to [email protected]. Michael will contact the chosen entry to send on the $100 fuel voucher prize.
