The Best Place To LiveDo you know the best place for the Native Americans to live? Well, I think if I
was a Native American I would want to live in the Northwest region. I believe it would have been the easiest place to live. Compared to the other regions, the Northwest had a lot more natural resources, better weather, and more animals.
One reason I think the Northwest region is the best place to live is that they had a lot of natural resources available. They had lots of trees. The trees could be used for a variety of items. One thing they made out of the wood is canoes. They used the canoes to go out in the ocean and to travel on the many rivers that are in the Northwest. The canoes allowed them to catch fish. There was so many fish that they had enough fish to last them the whole winter. After they caught the fish, they ate some but some they dried or smoked to keep for the winter. Another thing that they make out of the wood of trees is Cedar Plank houses. The Cedar Plank houses are big so you can fit many families in one house. They had so much wood that they even made totem poles out of the wood. The natural resources made living in the Northwest easier than in the other regions.
Another reason I think the Northwest region is the best place to live is that they had the best weather pattern. In the summer, it was cool so the Native Americans could go hunting and could easily catch fish and other animals. In the winter, the weather was mild and damp. In other regions, the winters could be very cold or the weather could be extremely hot which made it more difficult to live there. There was a great deal of rain so the plants and trees grew well. The Native Americans would use the seeds and berries of the plants for food. Some regions barely had any rain so they could not grow as many plants. The weather patterns made the Northwest easier to live in than other regions.
The last reason I think the Northwest region is the best place to live is because there are a lot of animals. The animals provided them meat to eat. They also used the skin for blankets and quilts. The animals gave the Native Americans skins for clothing and the bones provided tools for hunting and building. They had caribou, bears, clams, oysters and salmon. In other regions, animals were harder to find so they did have as much food or materials for clothing and tools. The many animals available in the Northwest region made it easier to live in than other regions.
I hope you understand why I chose the Northwest region as the best region to live in for Native Americans. As you can see, the many natural resources, the weather and the many animals make living in the Northwest region easier for Native Americans.
