DAY 1American AmbassadorsGet to know your traveling peers as you prepare for the trip of lifetime. Jet across the ocean to Beijing on the first leg of your Chinese adventure.

DAY 2First Impressions …Meet your delegation manager upon touchdown. Soak up the atmosphere of China’s capital city and make yourself comfortable at your home for the next few days.

DAY 3Welcome to BeijingFirst up is a trip to Tian’anmen Square, a site steeped in a turbulent history. Next up is a fascinating tour of the Forbidden City, the world’s largest and most well-preserved Imperial Palace. During a hands-on culinary lesson at a local vocational school, learn the key to preparing the traditional Chinese dish Dim Sum, then taste your results! In the evening, be a guest of honor at a lavish banquet serving Peking duck, a classic Northern Chinese delicacy.

DAY 4The Great WallJourney through lush Chinese countryside to the famed Juyongguan section of the Great Wall. Walk some of the 3,000 miles belonging to one of mankind’s most remarkable accomplishments.

Marvel in the splendor of the Summer Palace, an immense imperial garden dotted with breathtaking examples of Qing architecture. The best way to enjoy the graceful palace grounds is by boat on beautiful Kunming Lake.

DAY 5The Real ChinaNavigate through the narrow residential streets of old Beijing, known as the Hutongs, on a rickshaw. This is a thrilling way to see China up close and personal and a source of odd, hilarious, hair-raising moments!

Continue your exploration of urban Chinese life by meeting a family residing in the Beijing’s Hutongs who will take you on a personal tour of their home. Board a high-tech, high-speed train to Luoyang and arrive in time for a tasty evening meal.

DAY 6Martial ArtsMeet with local students to practice the most widely accepted authentic form of Chinese martial arts before exploring its origins at the Shaolin Temple. Explore the wonders of the Pagoda Forest, including the 1400 year old Song Yue Pagoda.

Attend a workshop to discover the classical art known as Tang Tri-Color. Paint your own work, using your new-found knowledge, and keep it as a wonderful souvenir.

DAY 7Hidden GemsUncover the wonders of the Longmen Grottoes. Take in 2,345 shrines and 100,000 statues, painstakingly carved out of a cliff over a period of 400 years.

Return to the city and explore the hidden gems of Luoyang, which only the locals know about, with the help of your expert guide. Then, board a high speed train to Xi’an.

DAY 8Welcome to Xi’an Visit the Ming Dynasty City Wall. Enjoy a bike ride along the top of this ancient monument for unforgettable views. Visit a local school and take this unique opportunity to make new friends and learn about their day-to-day lives.

DAY 9Terracotta WarriorsDelve into Xi’an’s history as you discover the museum of the famous Terracotta Warriors, 8,000 life-size figures discovered by chance. Take part in a workshop that replicates the technique used in their production before gaining exclusive access to one of the villagers who discovered the warriors.

Get an up-close view of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. Learn about ancient Chinese traditional painting during a unique insight into an ancient cultural practice that survives to this day.

DAY 10Natural Beauty Head to the picturesque small city of Guilin, known for its natural beauty and stunning landscape. Immerse yourself in the magic of the area as you take in its famous lake views and limestone karst hills.

Explore one of the famous caves of Guilin. Take rail carts, boats and even elevators to navigate the vast underground tunnels. Study the unique rock formations with expert assistance as you uncover the secrets of this natural wonder.

DAY 11The Genuine Chinese Experience Visit a local tea plantation to learn how Chinese tea is made, a staple of Chinese life. Set sail down the picturesque Yulong River on a bamboo raft and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area before arriving in Hongyan Village to be welcomed with open arms by your specially-selected homestay family.

Prepare a traditional dinner with your hosts before heading out for the evening. Get to know how the community socializes during a village welcome dance. Learn a few traditional dance moves, where you’ll be able to showcase your talents at a variety show, or just watch on as your friends do.

DAY 12A Helping HandRepay the kindness and generosity of your host villagers by helping local farmers in their orchard before a visit to the Confucius Temple. The world-renowned temple, named after one of the most famous thinkers and educators in Chinese history, places a huge importance on values of education and respect.

While visiting the temple, study a unique folk ceremony called Nuo mask dancing, with the help of an expert master artist. Watch a performance, learn a few steps yourself and create your own Nuo mask to take home.

DAY 13Welcome to ShanghaiImmerse yourself in the wonders of Shanghai, a global city where commerce, culture, finance, media, fashion, technology and transportation come together. Soak up the atmosphere in a city that seems to seamlessly blend Eastern and Western culture.

Visit the Bund waterfront, the instantly recognizable European style landmarks and buildings situated along the banks of the

river that reflect the colonial past of the city. Take in a birds-eye view of Shanghai from the summit of the Shanghai Center. Spend your first evening in the city attending a thrilling acrobatic show.

DAY 14Giving Back to the CommunityDemonstrate your community spirit as you give back to the warm, friendly people of China by participating in a specially-arranged People to People service project at the Qixing Special Education School in Shanghai. Walk through a local silk reeling factory and see the finished works of local artisans before visiting a Shanghai folk music instrument factory to learn how these traditional Chinese instruments are made and used.

DAY 15From Ancient Arts to Ping Pong Journey to Suzhou, a city located in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta. Stop off at the Panmen Gate to fly kites before a Chinese Calligraphy lesson at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Yipu Garden.

Visit a ping pong academy to get to know young athletes in training. Learn about this culturally iconic game and be prepared for a friendly challenge or two!

DAY 16The sounds of Suzhou Visit the Kun Opera Museum and learn about the origins of this traditional Chinese performing art from the experts. Enjoy the unique opportunity of interacting with local performers and trainers at the world-renowned school. Following lunch, cruise through the ancient canal system that winds its way around the city. Away from the hustle and bustle of the streets you can enjoy spectacular views of the Suzhou. Following your return to Shanghai, try your bargaining skills at the famous local bazaar. Grab some last-minute souvenirs as a memento for your time spent in China.
