New Zealand was once a land of birds and no people.

In 1642 a Dutch man named Able Tasman sailed to New Zealand but he got driven away by the Maori.

The people cut down trees to make houses .

This is a Maori tribes home, they catch with a spear.

The treaty of Waitangi was a peace of paper that would let the English own New Zealand.

Able Tasman was the first man to sail to New Zealand.

In 1850 whaling stations started to close down because they couldn’t find much more whales.

Soon there were wars between the Maori & the English. Guns shot spears flew as they battled to the death.
