Youthfulness @ 45, Henry Sy, DLSU, Manila
Leadership is best when you're young. When you're more than 50 and leading a large group of
Millennials, you deprive them of "moments of truth" only them can create, discover, and learn from with
oh so much zeal and enthusiasm during "transition." Leave them alone and let them decide on their own.
They are the brightest stars of our exiting generation. Don't think otherwise. Their issues are naturally
different from one who is supposed to be authentically responsible "giver of memory" (Lowry, 1993).
A very old giver who speaks loud and has not changed mutes the newly recruits and accomplishes only a
crown on her head while the badly mentored cries and traces back only her past. Peter Drucker helps us
to see what he always described as ―visible, but not yet seen‖ by many. Drucker (1909-2005) said,
―We need a new theory of management. The assumptions built into business today are not accurate"
(Definitive Drucker, 2006)

AUTHOR’S NOTE
I started long writing with Produktivong Laybraryanship in 2011 and I believe I have achieved the
intended purposes for doing it – information, entertainment, inspiration, and, persuasion.
I consider Being Chief & Confidently Able with a Heart, a self-published e-book, an every library worker’s
potential learning material to decipher and understand basically the customers’ journey in the library
workplaces and spaces.
I creatively put them altogether through this publication.
