The Baden-Württemberg E-Mobility Initiative •  The Baden-Württemberg State Initiative for E-Mobility started in 2009. •  A number of activities and projects have already been realized during the past two years. •  The State Government plans a further broadening of its E-Mobility Initiative over the next few years.

The State Agency: e-mobil BW GmbH Portfolio of activities: •  contact and information center relating to the topic of electric mobility •  networking and support activities for all stakeholders in the field of electric vehicles and fuel cell technology •  targeted integration of small and medium-sized enterprises into the innovation process •  initiating collaborative research projects •  active support on the fields of infrastructure, education and training as well as promotion of young talents •  positioning Baden-Württemberg as leading location for business, education and science on the field of electric mobility

Vision of the National Platform Electro-Mobility (NPE): • Germany as leading provider and leading market for e-mobility by 2020. • “E-Mobility made in Germany” as a synonym for systematic solutions that unite the conservation of natural resources with technology leadership and new market potentials.

How can this goal be achieved?

•  market preparation until 2014: research and development, showcase projects •  market development until 2017: market set-up of vehicles and facilities •  high-volume market until 2020: starting point of the mass market, stable business concept

The German E-Mobility Initiative lighthouse projects

•  bundling of individual lighthouse-projects •  additional 1 million Euro for research and development until mid 2013

Future activities: e-mobility showcase BW

Germany’s National Platform for Electric Mobility (NPE):

On May 18, 2011 Germany’s Federal Government adopted a new programme for electric mobility: •  1 billion Euro additional funding for research and development until the end of 2013 •  establishment of “lighthouse projects” (research) as well as regional “showcases” (demonstration projects) •  additional measures in the fields of taxes, laws and regulations planned

e-mobility showcase Baden-Württemberg •  following the official announcement by the German Federal Government in late 2011, Baden-

Württemberg plans to apply for a regional e-mobility showcase •  large-scale demonstration project bringing together vehicle manufacturers, mobility providers,

infrastructure providers, political authorities, private users,… •  area: Karlsruhe – Mannheim – Stuttgart – Ulm with several local satellites •  coordination: e-mobil BW GmbH + Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corp.
