Tools you can use when
searching directly in library databases
(“E-Resources”)
• Limit tools:
– Use field limits (TITLE, SUBJECT, ABSTRACT)
– Use document type limits (e.g. articles only)
– Add more concepts (e.g. a search for 3 concepts will produce fewer results than a search for 2 concepts)
– Use more limits (publication date, etc.)
• Browsing tip:
– Use detailed page option for efficient results list browsing
• Expand tools:
– Use synonyms & words of similar meaning for a concept
– Search more than one database at a time
– Include terms provided in database thesauri (dictionaries of related terms)
• Managing results:
