Online Services at VCU
International Student Orientation
Today, you will learn to….
• Find your eID• Create your password• Access your email account• Log into eServices• Use eServices to view your V number, administrative
holds, and grades• Pay your student accounting bill• Use eServices to update your address, phone number
and emergency contact information
Finding your eID• Click “Go to the
eID Finder”
• Enter your V number (on your VCU acceptance letter) and your birthday
Creating your Password
• Choose a password that meets the following rules:– Between 7-24 characters long – Contain at least 1 CAPITAL & 1 lowercase letter – Contain at least 1 number – Contain at least 4 different characters (e.g. A1a1a1a is invalid) – Can NOT begin or end with a number – Can NOT contain any special characters (do not use @ * ! , etc.)
• EXAMPLE PASSWORD: VCU123vcu• DO NOT set up the password help questions today. You
can do that later.
Accessing your email• From the VCU homepage,
click “E-mail” at the top of the page.
• Note: The eID followed by @vcu.edu represents your VCU email address.
• It is VERY important that you check your VCU email regularly!!

Log out of your e-mail account
• Log out before continuing
What is eServices?
• eServices is a website that VCU students use to:– View administrative holds– View student account information– Make payments– View their class grades– View their class schedule
Logging into myVCU
• Enter your eID and Password to login.
Accessing eServices• From the myVCU homepage, click on “eServices/ VCU Self Service”
Viewing your V number• If you forget your
V number, you can find it listed on the eServices Main Menu webpage.
Viewing your Student Bill
• Click the “Student” Tab• Click “Student Account”• Click “Account Summary
by Term”
Payment Methods Accepted @ VCU:• Pay online or in person at the Cashier’s Office in the 1st
floor of Harris Hall• Check (or e-check online)• Money Order • Cash• Credit Card: MasterCard, Discover and American Express
– A nonrefundable convenience fee of 2.75% is charged for all credit/debit card payments.
• Electronic Payment/Wire Transfer – See Student Accounting website for instructions
Paying your Student Bill Online• Select the "Student" Tab • Select the "Student Accounts" option • Select the "Make a Payment" option • Select the "Payments" tab along the top of the payment site• Select the "Pay" option under the Actions headline• Don’t forget to LOG OUT when finished
What is a “Hold”?• A HOLD is an administrative block that prevents students from
registering for classes and/or accessing their student records.• Holds cause negative consequences for your immigration status.
– Example: Holds prevent you from getting a travel signature on your I-20/DS-2019 or a letter of good standing.
• To remove holds, students must contact the department that placed the hold (the “originator”). – Example: Student Health Services, Student Accounting,
Immigration, International Admissions • The Global Education Office CANNOT remove holds from other
departments.

Student Tab • Click
“Student Records”

• eServices will indicate which department is the “originator” of the hold.
Sign Up for Text Message Alerts• Click “Sign up for
VCU Text Message Alerts” & follow instructions to receive immediate information on your cell phone about campus emergencies!
Update Personal Information• Click the Personal
Information Tab• Keep the following
information updated in eServices: – ADDRESS– PHONE NUMBER– EMERGENCY CONTACTS
• Any time your address changes, you also need to notify Immigration Services!!
