St. Stephen Summer Program 2019!

St. Stephen Summer Program! Younger Students (3-7 years old) – We will be running a summer program from June 17th through August 2 with a week off for 4th of July, if there is sufficient enrollment. We will be offering 3,4,or 5 days a week with similar tuition to the regular school year. Please let Ms. Thae know if you are interested in enrolling in the summer preschool/early childhood program. Older Students (8-13 years old) – We will be running a Summer Program and dates are being finalized and will be sent out via Flocknote . (Dependent upon enrollment.) Mrs. Ramsey’s Morning Program will have: Math Investigations, Readers’ Theater and Literacy Groups w/ Mrs. Ramsey in the mornings, Monday – Thursday and all day on Friday. Mrs. Payne’s - Monday – Thursday afternoons - Weekly offerings will include: Life Science, Engineering, Physical Science, Earth & Space Science, Science, Art, Coding & Break – out EDUs.

Virtues in Practice Program Ask Your Child About this month’s virtue… Here at St. Stephen Catholic School we use The Virtues in Practice Program, which was created by the Dominican Sisters. The goal of Catholic education is heaven, but know- ledge alone will not get us there! Virtues in Practice helps students to live out the faith in their everyday lives. Each year has a virtue/ theme of study; this year’s virtue is CHARITY and the theme is COMMUNITY. This month’s virtue is: Responsibility – Being reliable in your duties and accountable for your actions. Our focus saints are: St. Peter, St. Henry II, and Bl. Bartolo of Longo. Look these saints up and consider how they lived the virtue of responsibility in their lives.

Middle School Language Arts Position Filled for 2019-2020

We have hired our new Middle School ELA Teacher – please join us in welcoming Suzanne Kirsch to St. Stephen for the 2019-2020 academic year. Suzanne is not only a secondary qualified, master ELA teacher, with a K-12 Gifted & Talented endorsement, she is also a published writer! She and her family have lived in Glenwood Springs for many years.

SSCS Preschool Updates… Congratulations and Gratitude to Thae Dunn for taking on the position of Preschool Director! We are so blessed to have such a highly qualified, licensed preschool director who is also a licensed, master, bi-lingual teacher! Lead Teacher for 2019-2020 will be Mrs. Bethany Ostrowski, who has asked to go part-time. Teacher for 2019 – 2020 will be Jane Carrington!

A Fond Farewell… Mrs. Beth Mexted has decided to move on next year. We appreciate her six years of service at SSCS. She will be missed and we wish her well.

Elementary Teaching Position Opening for 2019 – 2020
