WHAT IS THE LEARNING VILLAGE?The Learning Village (www.learningvillage.net) offers EAL blended learning for learners in schools (for induction-to-English, gap-filling and pre-teaching vocabulary and language structures). It’s designed both for independent learning and for small-group teaching of beginners and those at intermediate levels. Suitable for learners of any language, thanks to its image-based methodology, including those not literate in their home language. This programme supports language learning within the new English National Curriculum, the PYP, the IPC and other curricula.

RESOURCES INCLUDE...Across Cultures EAL resources:• enhanced admissions templates & assessment templates

• complete induction-to-English with resources (Teaching English as an Additional Language 5-11: A Whole School Resource and An English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programme: Learning through images for 7-14 year olds, by Caroline Scott, Trainer.)

• class teaching guidelines, suggested in-class methodology and associated language learning strategies

• family learning new-to-English induction framework

• an EAL handbook template, training presentation and training manual, with all the materials for training others to implement this framework in your school.

Additionally, the trainer receives Across Cultures certification as a registered programme trainer, allowing them to train others in their school.

The course also includes a short training and free trial of the Learning Village.

“Truly amazing training that answered all of my questions. I think in my school I will choose some elements from the training to help my colleagues to understand and support more EAL students efficiently across the school. I will try to bring small changes and establish the good practice I have learnt to my school. Thank you for the very useful and inspiring training.”

Anna Szuma – EAL Teacher, St Vincent’s Academy
