It is essential to know the Short Circuit Current and KVA that the system will carry under Different Fault Conditions

and at Different Points in the System. The faults may be Single Line to Ground, Double Line to Ground, Three Line

Fault or Line to Line Fault. Selection of Circuit Breakers, Protective Devices and Operation Strategies are mainly

required information about the Short Circuit Current.

Moreover Fault Analysis is essential in order to have safety operation of the Power Systems and to know the fault

causes. It is important for Engineers and Technicians to be aware by fault causes, fault detection, fault protection and

fault analysis. This course is designed to provides the participants with complete knowledge about fault calculations,

fault detection and protective relays used for power systems and networks. The course is concerned with the

calculation of fault currents in practical electrical power systems. Short-Circuit currents are associated with large

amounts of very destructive Energy and therefore Calculations must be made to ensure that the short-circuit ratings

of equipment are adequate to cater for these high currents. In addition, an accurate assessment of these currents is

also essential for determining the settings of the system protection devices.

Electrical systems are subjected to several external & internal influences like Weather Conditions, Lightning

Phenomenon, Pollution, Insulation Failure, Temperature Rise, etc., these influences cause abnormal Operational

Condition, which could lead to voltage and frequency variations and feeder trips, brown out or Black Out of Electrical

system, and sometimes, may lead to equipment damage or System Failure.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

Understand the basic theory of Three Phase Power System

under Balanced and Unbalanced Conditions.

Learn the Per-unit System and Analytical Circuit based

Techniques to calculate Industrial Power Systems for Faults.

Learn Advanced Engineering Mathematical Software that can

be used to make difficult and complicated Calculations an

Easy Task.

Understand Balanced Three-phase Faults and unbalanced

Faults and their Analysis using Symmetrical Components.

Apply impedance reduction Techniques and positive, negative

and zero sequence circuits and their interconnection for faults.

Participate and earn valuable learning through Case studies

and industrial standards for Medium and Low Voltage

Networks and know what are types of different of Faults and

how faults are calculated.

The course is designed for Electrical

Engineers those involved in Commissioning,

Start up, Operation, and Protection of

Electric Power Networks.
