The Brainline-developed curriculum is based on the CAPS curriculum and

complies with legal requirements.

Brainline has developed our own Grade R programme (curriculum) based on the CAPS requirements of the Department of Basic Education, while allowing you as parent/guardian flexibility. An integrated approach that focusses on learning through play and fun activities. Our programme comprises a combination of a Home Language, First Additional Language, Mathematics, and Life Skills, which are addressed holistically with a theme-based approach.

A wide range of topics are explored in a fun and interactive way, using

household items.

The complete alphabet and number set is taught throughout the

programme, with specific literacy and numeracy outcomes.

Play activities to develop the fine and gross motor skills that your child must

master.

Suggested schedules are provided to give guidance on time-management

and planning your academic year.

The curriculum, developed for Brainline by a foundation phase specialist, is based on the CAPS

curriculum and complies with legal requirements.

Enrolment is open all year. Can be completed at your own pace. Average duration of one year.

Completion of the preceding grade is recommended.

Brainline has developed its own Grade 1–3 programmes, based on the CAPS requirements of the Department of Basic Education. Our integrated programme focuses on learning through play and learning activities, and consists of a Home Language, a First Additional Language, Mathematics and Life Skills. This programme allows the parent/guardian to take control of their child’s most precious developmental years from the comfort of their own home.

General training for parents, and clear guidelines in lessons and resources to

help facilitate their child’s learning.

FORMAL ASSESSMENTSELF-ASSESSMENT

Self-assessment items are included in the programme. You, the parent/guardian, will decide when your child should complete these items.

These are downloaded and must be completed under the supervision of an independent invigilator that you register with Brainline.

You, the parent/guardian, are responsible for assessing the items according to the mark-ing guidelines provided.

Once completed, the original hard copies must be sent to Brainline, after which it will be marked by experienced subject specialists.

BrainlineCOMPACT is an exclusive Brainline-interwoven Grade 10 and 11 curriculum that delivers core content in one academic year, accommodating time constraints whilst preparing a student for Grade 12. Brainline is registered with the Independent Examination Board (IEB) and therefore uses an IEB-aligned curriculum. The IEB sees education as learning that must be innovative, have integrity, and be internationally comparable. Brainline’s curriculum thus complies with the statutory requirements of the CAPS curriculum while adapting the content and assessment to focus on problem solving, and critical and creative thinking rather than rote learning, thereby ensuring a high educational standard.

Assessments are made available, downloaded and uploaded on our online platform.

Marking guidelines are provided post-assessment, and are complemented by teacher discussions during the live lessons.
