A s of 5/11, the World HealthOrganization/IARC ruled non-thermal emissions of electro-magnetic fields from non-ionizing radi-ation, a Class 2 B Carcinogen, whichmeans it can possibly cause cancer inhumans. It joins a prestigious list ofother class 2 B Carcinogens includingbut not limited to: lead, dioxin, chloro-form, HIV and ethylbenzene.

Considering that it has now beenruled to be on par with DDT, theLVMWD ought to have halted on itsown the rollout of these devices ratherthan rollover the health and safety oftheir customers. Would you want DDTsprayed in and around your home, schools and neighborhoods 24/7?

These wireless radiation emittingdevices are being forced on the publicwith no opt outs available even thoughtheir deployment has not been mandatedby the Federal Government. Across thecountry, people report headache, dizzi-ness, nausea, memory loss, musclespasms, insomnia, heart arrhythmia andother physical ailments upon having awireless meter installed. The followinghealth effects have been documented instudies on EMF: DNA breaks, cancer, endocrine disruption, birth defects, sterility, heart arrhythmia, learningimpairment, ADD/ADHD, headache,

fatigue and sleep dis-turbance. Children, pregnant women, sen-iors, people withimmune deficienciesand people with med-ical implants are espe-cially at risk.

The LVMWDassured us that lowfrequencies are safe(as they have whenapproving cell towerson their tanks feetaway from us.) Doesthe LVMWD think ithas better science onEMF health and safetythan the World Health Organization?

This boils down to consumer educa-tion, consumer protection and consumerchoice, all fundamentals of democracyand American Law. The LVMWD mustdisclose important information about theSmart meters to consumers, includingthe model, timing, magnitude, frequencyand duration of RF emissions so thatindividual consumers can makeinformed decisions (as directed inAssemblyman Huffmans bill.) Whetheror not you believe RF exposures fromSmart meters are harmful, its only fairthat consumers who are concerned be

given complete technical information, and the choice of another technologyfor devices that are installed on ourproperties.

Ultimately, it comes down tochoice, and for whatever valid reason, consumers do deserve the choice onwhether to have this technologyencroach on their homes. A shieldedhard wired option transmitting via ana-logue PSTN or via DSL/Cable is aviable alternative.

Drinking WDrinking Waterater Extracted From AirAir

W ater out of air? A Texasman has invented amachine that does justthat, and its already caught the eye ofsome celebrities.

    Its just an awesome machine,

says inventor Terry LeBleuThe drought doesnt worry him

because hes invented and patented anew machine. Its called the DroughtMaster and makes drinkable water outof air.

It pulls the airthrough it, pulls out themoisture, and exhauststhe air, LeBleu says.

Depending onhumidity, the machinecan make between fiveto seven gallons ofpure water in one day.All you have to do isplug it in, and one gal-lon costs only 4 centsin electrical charges.

An independent lab took samplesof LeBleus water and found it had nobacteria and is free of metals. Labtechs say its similar to distilled water.

Willie Nelson owns fifty of thesemachines, including an indoor version.Even Texas Governor Rick Perry ownsone. But LeBleu wants his invention tobenefit local farmers and ranchers. STA.net

W hen I was thirteen I was smoking cigarettesId found on the ground and playing SuperNintendo like it was my lifes work. Thiskid discovered a way to draw 20-50% more power fromsolar cells. He is way cooler.

7th grader Aidan Dwyer was walking in the woodsduring the winter, and looking up, he noticed somethingabout the bare branches above him. They didnt appear tobe growing randomly. So he took some measurementsof the angles of the branches, crunched some numbers, and wouldnt you know it, he found that the ubiquitousFibonacci Sequence was behind it all. He suspected therewas a reason behind this; that trees were using this pat-tern to gather more light.

So he did an experiment. Using the same number ofsolar cells, he built two working models. One was a tra-ditional, flat array will all of the panels on a single plane. The other used the Fibonacci Sequence to create thesame spiraled pattern he observed in the trees. Theresults? The little man himself reports:

The tree design made twenty percent more elec-tricity and collected 2-1/2 more hours of sunlight duringthe day. But the most interesting results were inDecember, when the Sun was at its lowest point in thesky. The tree design made fifty percent more electricity, and the collection time of sunlight was up to fifty per-cent longer!

Did you hear that? All of the smart-guys in thecountry who spent their time trying to make solar powermore efficient were just outsmarted by a thirteen-year-old and a tree. Aiden just won the Young NaturalistAward from theAmerican Museum of Natural History. Its kids like this that make me think that just maybe thiscountry isnt so screwed after all. Inhabitat

HUNGARHUNGARYY DESTROYS DESTROYS ALLALL MONSANTMONSANTOOGMO CORN FIELDSGMO CORN FIELDS

R ather than risk the conse-quences of growing genetical-ly modified crops, Hungarytakes quick action and plows themunder.

In March, Hungary introduced anew regulation that states seeds mustbe checked for GMO before they areintroduced to the market. However,

some GMO seeds made it to the farm-ers without their being aware of it. Asa result, almost one thousand acres ofmaize found to have been grown withgenetically modified seeds have beendestroyed throughout Hungary. Thedeputy state secretary of the Ministryof Rural Development, Lajos Bognar, said that the GMO maize has beenploughed under, and pollen has notspread from the maize.

The United States, meanwhile, isbeginning to see the consequences ofwidely planted GMOs. In the mid-90s,Monsanto introduced seeds geneticallyengineered to withstand its Roundupbrand of herbicide. Today, theseRoundup Ready crops are planted all

across the U.S.ninety-four percent ofsoybeans and more than seventy per-cent of corn and cotton contain theRoundup-resistant gene.

But when the land is dosed with asingle herbicide for years on end, theecosystems adapt. Roundup-defyingsuperweeds are getting out of con-trol. And the problem is only accelerat-ing, because the resistant weeds aredriving out their non-resistant counter-parts.

According to Mother Jones:These weeds adapt faster and morevigorously than their weed cousins, choking fields and clogging irrigationditches so badly water cant passthrough. Mercola.com

Earth Star Up FrontThe DangThe Dangerers of Mammographs of Mammographyy

W omen all around America and other industri-alized nations are told that regular mammo-grams are the best approach for early breastcancer detection. A mammogram is an x-ray of thebreast that looks to find tumorous growths that are oth-erwise undetectable in a physical exam. X-rays use ion-izing radiation to create the photographic image. Despiteenormous funding and research, mammography has avery strong opposition in many quadrants of the medicaland natural health communities.

This opposition is due to the dangers involved withthe amount of harmful radiation, the inaccuracy ratesand the economic costs. Yearly mammograms had beenrecommended for women over the age of fifty. In 2001,US health officials began recommending women overforty get regular mammograms. The Lancet wrote inJuly 1995 that the benefit (of mammograms) is margin-al, the harm caused is substantial, and the costs incurredare enormous.

Many doctors have trouble trusting mammogramsdue to their enormous rate of false positive diagnosis. Inone large study looking at 60,000 women, theresearchers found that seventy percent of the detectedtumors were not tumors at all. These false positiveresults create a great amount of emotional stress onpatients and family members involved. Even worse, these results lead to many unnecessary and invasivebiopsies. Research has shown that seventy to eighty per-cent of all positive mammograms do not show the pres-ence of cancer upon further biopsy testing.

False positives and unnecessary biopsies can dra-matically alter an individuals health. The emotionalstress of believing you have cancer when you do not isenough to trigger the onset or the acceleration of diseasein the body. Many women have undergone unnecessarychemotherapy, radiation and mastectomies after receiv-ing false positive results on a mammogram. This createsan enormous overall economic, emotional, and physicalstress on the individual due to the limitations of this sortof testing.

Routine mammography exposes the individual to anexceptionally high amount of ionizing radiation. Ionizingradiation is something we are all exposed to in nature and thebody can handle a certain amount each year without it becom-ing risky. One series of mammograms (2 xrays on each breast)is equivalent to the radiation dose of 1000 normal chest orspinal x-rays.

Due to this enormous blast of radiation many expertswarn that mammography actually increases the risk of breastcancer. Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD, estimated that annual mam-mography increases the risk of breast cancer by two percenteach year. The National Cancer Institute has stated that mam-mography is especially dangerous for younger women. In fact, they have stated that it could cause seventy-five cases of breastcancer for every fifteen it identifies. Other studies have shownup to a fifty-two percent increase in breast cancer mortality in

young women given annual testing. The incidence of certain forms of breast cancer such as

ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) has increased by 328% sincemammography was introduced. Cancer research has alsofound a gene called oncogene AC that is very sensitive to radi-ation. Women who have this gene are at extraordinarily highrisk when exposed to mammography. Researchers estimatethat 10,000 of these gene carriers will die of breast cancereach year due to mammography.

Mammography also requires the patient`s breasts to becompressed. This compression is known to cause the releaseof cancerous cells into circulation which greatly increases therisk of malignant spread. Dr. Charles Simone, a former clini-cal associate in immunology and pharmacology at the NCI,has been a strong advocate against mammography. He says,Mammograms increase the risk for developing breast cancerand raise the risk of spreading or metastasizing an existinggrowth. NaturalNews

D espite shifting into higher gearwithin the consumers greenconscience, hybrid vehicles arestill tethered to the gas pump via a fuel-thirsty one hundred-year-old invention:the internal combustion engine.

However, researchers at MichiganState University have built a prototypegasoline engine that requires no transmis-sion, crankshaft, pistons, valves, fuelcompression, cooling systems or fluids.Their so-called Wave Disk Generator

could greatly improve the effi-ciency of gas-electric hybridautomobiles and potentiallydecrease auto emissions up toninety percent when comparedwith conventional combustionengines.

The engine has a rotor thatsequipped with wave-like chan-nels that trap and mix oxygenand fuel as the rotor spins. These central inlets are blocked

off, building pressure within the chamber, causing a shock wave that ignites thecompressed air and fuel to transmit energy.

The Wave Disk Generator uses sixtypercent of its fuel for propulsion; standardcar engines use just fifteen percent. As aresult, the generator is 3.5 times more fuelefficient than typical combustion engines.

Researchers estimate the new modelcould shave almost 1,000 pounds off acars weight currently taken up by con-ventional engine systems.

The prototype was presented to theenergy division of the AdvancedResearch Projects Agency, which is back-ing the Michigan State University EngineResearch Laboratory with $2.5 million infunding. Discovery News

ICELANDIC SCIENTISTS DISCOVER NNEWEW OOCEANCEAN CCURRENTURRENT

A discovery by two Icelandicoceanographers has garneredinternational attention becauseit might have significance in the contextof climate change and global warming. It is a deep ocean current which flowsalong the continental shelf off northIceland.

The current, which is known as theNorth Icelandic Jet, was first studiedand described by two of the IcelandicMarine Research Institutes specialists,Steingrmur Jnsson, who is also a pro-fessor at the University of Akureyri, andHdinn Valdimarsson, Frttabladidreports.

In the past few years the NorthIcelandic Jet has been studied further, both by Icelandic and Americanresearch vessels in collaborationbetween the Icelandic Marine ResearchInstitute and Woods Hole, one of theUSs most respected marine researchinstitutes.

On August 22nd, Woods Holesresearch vessel Knorr headed out fromReykjavk on a month-long expeditionto map the North Icelandic Jet in moredetail and search for its origins.

Jnsson explained that there is aknown heat-salt circulation in the oceanwhich has been compared to a conveyorbelt. Warm seawater flows to the northwhere it cools and sinks.

Then a deep ocean current is

formed whichflows backsouth along theocean floor untilit eventuallyresurfaces andwarms up again.

This circu-lation is to alarge extentcontrolled bythe worlds cli-mate and thetheory is that ifthis ocean con-veyor belt isweakened theclimate willcool in the northern hemisphere. Globalwarming is believed to be able to causethis imbalance.

The reason, in short, is the meltingof the Greenland icecap. Freshwaterchanges the qualities of the ocean sothat it becomes lighter with less salt, doesnt sink and stops the conveyor belt.

Jnsson said the North Icelandic Jetchanges this picture and with it the the-ory on the effect of global warming inthe northern hemisphere. That is wherethe importance of the discovery lies andwhat explains the interest of US scien-tists.

It is considered to be possible thatthe North Icelandic Jets presence off

Iceland means that the heat-salt circula-tion isnt as vulnerable to the melting ofthe Greenland icecap.

It is also important that two deepocean currents but not one (the EastGreenland Current) are active and canreduce the impact of melting glaciers.

The origins of the North IcelandicJet are unknown. First we noticed it offthe West Fjords but now we know thatthe deep ocean current can be traced allthe way eastwards to Langanes. Whereits ultimate origins lie is unknown, asare many other aspects. It will be ourproject in the coming years to completethe picture, Jnsson concluded.Iceland Review

Earth Star Up FrontChocolateChocolate Offers Huge Protection From Heart Disease And Stroke

R esearchers have discoveredchocolate (especially theorganic, not junked up withadditives and sugar type) contains phy-tochemicals which appear to promotegood health. But no one has had muchof a clue about the specifics of some ofthose benefits on the cardiovascular sys-temuntil now. Scientists at theEuropean Society of CardiologyCongress currently underway in Parisjust announced that chocolate provideshuge protection from heart disease aswell as stroke.

Thats great news because, despitethe billions of dollars spent on main-stream medicines drugs and surgicalinterventions, the battle against cardio-vascular disease obviously needs someserious help. Currently, the WorldHealth Organization (WHO) predictsthat by 2030 nearly 23.6 million peoplewill die yearly from heart disease.

So just imagine the fluttering ofhearts in Big Pharma offices if theyfound a no side effect, easy to producedrug that actually worked to lower therisk of developing heart disease in thefirst place by almost forty percent. Thedemand and profits to be made would beenormous. While there is no such med-ication, it turns out that eating chocolate

regularly appears to accomplish whatpills cant.

For a new study, which was justpublished in the online version of theBritish Medical Journal, Dr. OscarFranco and colleagues from theUniversity of Cambridge carried out alarge scale investigation of existingresearch on chocolate. In all, theylooked at research involving over100,000 participants with and withoutexisting heart disease. Then the scien-tists evaluated the effects of eatingchocolate on cardiovascular eventsincluding heart attacks and stroke.

For each of seven studies that wereanalyzed, the research team comparedthe group with the highest chocolateconsumption against the group with thelowest consumption (to minimize bias, they factored in differences in the wayeach study had been designed). Bottomline: the highest levels of chocolate con-sumption were associated with anastounding thirty-seven percent reduc-tion in cardiovascular disease and analmost thirty percent reduction in strokecompared with lowest levels of choco-late eating.

The studies did not differentiatebetween dark or milk chocolate andincluded consumption of chocolate bars,

drinks, biscuits and dessertswhichraises an obvious question not answeredby the new research analysis. Would thecardiovascular protection be even morepronounced if the chocolate didntinclude extra sugars, unhealthy fats orchemical additives found in manychocolate drinks and candy bars?

The authors of the study did warntheir findings need to be interpreted cau-tiously because commercially availablechocolate products are often loaded withcalories, so eating too much of these canlead to weight gain and be harmful tohealth in general. However, in a state-ment to the media, they concluded thatgiven the health benefits of eatingchocolate, initiatives to reduce the cur-rent fat and sugar content in most choco-late products should be explored.NaturalNews

    In MemoriamDr. Fred Bell (1943 - 2011)

F ormer NASA scientist, inventor, health pio-neer and musician Dr. Fred Bell died sudden-ly of a heart attack on Sunday, September16th, the day after he had appeared as a guest on formerMinnesota governor Jesse Venturas TV program,Conspiracy Theory, in Minneapolis.

Fred Bell was born on August 10th, 1943 in AnnArbor Michigan. His father, Allan Bell, was a scien-tist who worked with the late Henry Ford Sr. He laterbrought the London Bridge over from England andreconstructed it in the middle of the Arizona desertand built a city with a lake around it. Today its calledHavasu City. Freds great uncle, Alexander GrahamBell, was also a well-known inventor.

Fred Bell was propelled into science at a veryearly age. At age 14, he was not only working at theUniversity of Michigan on nuclear energy projects, but was also inducted into the U.S. Governmentsproject M. K. Ultra. This early mind control researchcovered such topics as past life regression, and thepopular remote viewing used today by the CIA andother intelligence gathering agencies worldwide.

At 16 years of age Fred joined the U.S. Air Force.Although technically, he could not wear a uniformuntil his 17th birthday, he began working in the AirForce on highly classified projects, several involvingearly warning radar defense systems and the detectionand tracking of extraterrestrial craft. He was one ofthe first to bring the famed DDS form 213 to publicawareness. DDS form 213 was used by the U.S. AirForce to report internally to the government on thepresence of extraterrestrials and their craft.

After his tenure in the military, he worked forNASA on projects such as Star Wars (the military ver-sion) laser development, submarine and missile guid-ance systems, and finally the lunar lander projectknown as the Apollo missions. During this time heworked with Scott Crosfield, developer of the X-15,and the late Werner von Braun.

After leaving the defense sector, Fred travelled toTibet and began studying with Himalayan Masters.During this time he attained international fame as acontactee to a Pleiadean group of extraterrestrialhumanoids who were here, he claimed, to help thepeople on earth save themselves from their owndestructive tendencies. For this efforts, the Russian

Society of Cosmonauts awarded Dr. Bell theDistinguished Scientific Progress Award.

Dr. Bell was also a practicing naturopath, and hadspent twenty years as a spokesperson for the NationalHealth Federation, a U.S.-based group that promoteshealth-care freedom.

He was the the subject of several books, mostnotably The Promise, written by famed author BradSteiger, and the author of three books: The Death ofIgnorance; Rays of Truth, Crystals of Light; and TheInside Track.

He marketed many of the health products andtechnologies he had developedsuch as the NuclearReceptor, worn by many athletes and celebrities, andthe Projectorthrough his company, Pyradyne,http://www.pyradyne.com

October promises to be a par-ticularly lively month, char-acterized by constant changesin information and plans dueto circumstances beyond

ones control. For the most part, SeptembersLibra new moon (27th) cycle determines thegeneral trends through to Octobers new moonon the 26th. Theres a lot of excitement associ-ated with communications now, with a rapidfire flow of information which may be subjectto change, as new facts or data surface to alterthe equation, while activities and events cantranspire at a breathtaking pace. Anticipatesome frustrations, as unexpected develop-ments force adjustments to the game plan, necessitating swift and decisive action. Takeextra care in the use of funds and mutualresources now; conservation and restraintmight be the wisest path to take this month.

On October 2nd, Mars lines up precisely insquare to Jupiter, asking us to closely examinematerial motives. Dont bite off more than youcan chew, or take too much for granted underthis rather grandiose influence. Indeed, exer-cise a great deal of caution now, and for aweek or so either side of this potent aspect, asvolatile, and potentially confusing, energiesare abroad.

Speak with confidence when Mercury con-juncts Saturn on the 6th, in fair-minded Libra.Important career decisions can be made now,or professional advice sought. Update valuabledatabases, at least prior to Mercurys forth-coming retrograde phase next month.

Venus enters sultry Scorpio on the 8th (till Nov2), when values and promises will be tested, particularly regarding mutual assets or agree-ments. Passions will rise, while loyalty may berewarded in some way. Shrewd investmentsnow could quickly return handsome dividends.

Octobers full moon culminates late on the11th, in 19 Aries, with the sun conjunctSaturn, and may herald the ending, or transfor-mation, of a professional partnership, whilethe potential for new, more productive associ-ations is seeded. Relationship issues could viefor time you might rather devote to personalpursuits. Give others plenty of space!

A sobering, sanity restoring conjunctionbetween the sun and Saturn perfects on the13th, in 21 Libra, when a career or educa-tional opportunity could appear unannounced.Seek vocational guidance, if necessary. Bewilling to take action for what you believe in.Forget petty frustrations by focusing on yourwork or responsibilities. It may also help totemper the impulse to overindulge, precipitat-ed by a Venus-Jupiter opposition that perfectson the 14th.

When Mercury enters suspicious Scorpio earlyon October 13th, the wise will keep all com-munications on the level, and avoid deception.Impassioned flights of fancy are not uncom-mon during this transit, when deep thoughtscan emerge with little warning. Investigaterecycling, and ways to reuse discarded items.

Focused visualization could bring rapid resultswhen the sun trines Neptune on the 21st.Picture, in your minds eye, exactly what youdesire and then hold that image...see and feel itas a reality. Creative artistry of all kinds canflourish now, so give your imagination freerein!

Passions deepen when the sun enters Scorpioon the 23rd (till Nov 22), while feelings andemotions are experienced more intensely. Usethis four-week transit to regenerate andrecharge yourself. Eliminate that which nolonger serves a useful purpose in your life, inpreparation for a new phase of growth and

    expansion that begins shortly.

Corporate enterprise and joint financial con-cerns are also energized and supported on the23rd, as the sun sextiles Pluto. Express yourunique creative abilities through business orcareer activities at every opportunity. Seeknovel ways to recycle discarded items orresources.

Octobers new moon occurs on the 26th, in 0302' Scorpio, inspiring us to act and speak withpower in the weeks ahead, and to transformthat which is no longer working for us or is notserving our highest good. As Scorpio is thesign of regeneration, where this lunation fallsin ones horoscope can indicate the life areathat is ripe for release and rebirth. Utilize thetransformative potential inherent in this potentlunation to help you replace diminishing rev-enue sources, or to overhaul outworn financialpractices and strategies. Resolve sensitiveissues around intimacy during the next fourweeks, a theme that is strongly emphasized byan almost precise square aspect between thegender planets, Venus and Mars. Dont takeanything or anyone for granted. The changesyou make now will stimulate new growth andcreative enterprise in the months ahead. However, refrain from unwise expenditures orspeculation now. Instead, conserve and protectkey resources.

Then Mars, once again, adds impetus to thecosmic energy flow with a supportive sextileaspect to Saturn which perfects later on the26th, when hard work and purposeful actionwin the day, and ambition is powerfully stim-ulated. You may also notice an increase instamina, so be sure to put it to good, positiveuse. Take the initiative now. Act on businessor career options.

extra measure of patience may be called for, while communications or travel could provefrustrating. Avoid jumping to conclusions, impulsive actions, or blurting out somethingthat you may later regret. Keep the intellectgainfully employed, to avoid irritability andthe potential for angry outbursts. Tact may beconspicuous by its absence just now. Theurge to compete could be compelling.Remain alert and focused whilst traveling.

Giant Jupiter trines distant Pluto precisely onthe 28th, for the second time this yearthelast time was on July 7thand only the sec-ond such (120) alignment since July 1st,2003, encouraging expansion and self-improvement through creative enterprise, and spiritual evolvement, in the comingweeks. The present house locations ofJupiter and Pluto in one's natal horoscopeindicate the life areas in which the transfor-mation of stagnant conditions may havebecome necessary in order for further evolu-tionary progress to be made.

However, the sun makes its annual opposi-tion to Jupiter later on the 28th, when thewise will strive to avoid impulsive behavior.Act only after careful deliberation; as youmay be inspired to try something that younormally wouldnt consider. Exercise greatcare and discernment with real estate invest-ments or stock market speculation.

October draws to close with a further admon-ishment to be realistic about business andfinancial ventures, and in key relationships, when Venus aligns in square to Neptune.Watch expenditures, budget wisely, and treadcarefully in affairs of the heart.

Social calendars may tend to fill ratherquickly once Venus enters Sagittarius onNovember 2nd for a four-week sojourn.Feelings are more readily expressed, oftenwith exuberance and a dramatic flair, whilethe great outdoors can beckon.

Steady progress can be made in business, commerce, and legal affairs, followingMercurys arrival in Sagittarius on the 2nd(till Jan 7). However, be aware of the conse-quences of your actions now. Get plenty ofmental and physical exercise during thisintellectually stimulating transit.

Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday,November 6th, at 2:00am, so remember toset your clocks BACK 1-hour.

Adding to the distortion of reality thesedayswe may witness events that may beg-gar belief!is Mars opposition to Neptuneon the 7th. Deception is rife, and the truthbehind actions or events may be intentionallyobscured. Indeed, clarity will almost certainlybe lackingnot exactly the kind of influencewe might wish for on the eve of ElectionDay! Be alert to self-destructive impulses, orgiving vent to suppressed anger, as thats adistinct possibility now. Avoid seeking sol-ace in artificial stimulants, as ones physicaltolerance may be at a low ebb, and escapisttendencies prevail. Know for whom yourevoting, where your polling station is located, and what the procedure is. If necessary, seekguidance from within when making yourchoice.

After five months in retrograde, Neptune, planet of mystery and imagination, turnsdirect (in 29 Aquarius) on November 9thagain, not exactly conducive to truth, clarityand accuracy around Election time!Neptunes directional shifts often coincidewith strange or unexpected events, peculiarbehavior, and anomalous weather or geo-physical activities for several days either sideof its station. Dont believe all that you see orhear around this period. Remain alert, beobservant, but avoid jumping to conclusionsor going to extremes.

An earthy full moon in Taurus occurs onNovember 10th, which may bring financesand personal values into sharp focus. Discardexpensive habits or deep-rooted, self-sabo-taging fears or phobias, particularly wherelove and money are concerned. Indeed, anadditional measure of mental and emotionalself-control may be required around thisperiod, with Mercury and Venus in an almostprecise conjunction in enthusiasticSagittarius, as the wing-heeled messenger ofthe gods slows its pace and prepares to turnretrograde.

Another shift in the cosmic tide occurs whenMars enters tropical Virgo on the 10th, for anextended stay until July 3, 2012, due to aforthcoming and fairly rare retrograde cycle.During this transit, actions will likely stemfrom purely practical considerations. Be sureto get some healthy, outdoor exercise duringthis period. Do work requiring precision.Reorganize your occupational environmentfor greater efficiency.

The red planets next contact is a supportive

trine to Jupiter on the 16th, an exuberant,high-energy transit that can foster coopera-tion amongst allies, though it can also elicitaggressive tendencies. Act on importantdecisions with the big picture in mind, butbear in mind Mercurys approaching retro-grade cycle. Advance your own interestswherever possible.

The sun squares Neptune on the 20th, sokeep a firm grip on reality now; escapist ten-dencies can, quite literally, lead the unwaryastray. Stay on track, know where youregoing. Spend some quiet time alone.

Mercury stations retrograde late on the 22nd,in 21 of tropical Sagittarius, so finalizepending agreements where possible beforethis date, otherwise it would be prudent topostpone important decisions of any kinduntil after December 13th. Instead, reviewplans or ideas for a new project, or for anintended change in career or residence.Catch up on your reading, and attend tobacklogged communications, messages andcorrespondence.

The arrival of the new moon on the 24thThanksgiving Dayin 03Sagittarius, alsoheralds a partial solar eclipse, sounding aclarion call to review or upgrade your educa-tional objectives, or to expand your occupa-tional horizons. In the spirit of opennessbestowed by this lunation, acknowledge andrelease any deep-rooted fears of failure thatmay have been holding you back from real-izing your full potential. Seek new avenuesof self-expression. Sweeping changes are inthe wind! The chart for this lunation/eclipsecontains a flowing grand trine in earth signs(Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) involving JupiterMars and Pluto, encouraging the pursuit ofpractical and attainable objectives in theweeks and months ahead. Be sure to makegood use of it.

Social activities could be particularly stimu-lating when Venus trines Jupiter on the 27th.Financial and educational activities arestrongly supported now, while philanthropicor charitable activities can bring satisfaction.

DDoowwnn TToo EEaarrtthh AAssttrroollooggyyAries (March 20April 19)An abundance of enthusiasm and awillingness to act on spur of the moment

ideas or new information could quickly get you in overyour head with a creative project or activities suggestedby a partner or close associate in early October. Yourchallenge will be to carefully consider the big picture, and the financial aspects involved, before you leapheadlong into a new venture. A period of regenerationand renewal is at hand following the Scorpio new moonon October 26th, during which you may benefit fromdiscarding that which is no longer necessary or hasoutlived its usefulness, whether possessions, unfoundedfears or doubts about your potential for worldly success,or unhelpful emotional response patterns that inhibityour growth and development. Seek to broaden yourhorizons and embrace new possibilities.

Taurus (April 19May 20)For much of October, your energies will befocused primarily around the home, whereyour attention to domestic needs will be a

high priority, necessitated by some radical changes, of agenerally positive nature, that may now be taking place. You have been involved in a process of expanding youroutlook on life for some time, and now events are accel-erating, enabling you to move forward with your plans totransform your prospects for the future. A new cycle inthe growth and development of a key relationship beginsin late October, which continues throughout November, that allows you to build upon and consolidate the pro-gressive changes you have made. Consider carefullywhat you presently wish to eliminate from your life, lestyou discard something of true value in your haste.

Gemini (May 20June 21)Youre in an outgoing, exuberant frame ofmind these days, and keen to move forward

with personal plans and projects. Activities with friendsor progressive groups that share your goals andphilosophies will be on your agenda now, and will likelyconsume a great deal of your time and energy. Applyyour creative ingenuity to advancing your career orprofessional aspirations, as it may prove challenging tosell your ideas to those who may be in a position to helpyou climb the ladder, or that might fund a project dear toyour heart. A new work assignment is possible inNovember, though before you accept, or apply, be surethat youre up to the task and have the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to carry it out successfully.

Cancer (June 21July22)The main thrust of your energies in October isdirected toward generating income, fuelled by a

deeply felt need for a greater sense of emotional and financialsecurity. The recent new moon in Libra (Sept 27th) in your

solar fourth house provides a welcome boost to your spirits, which may have been somewhat dampened for some timenow by Saturns presence in this sensitive sector of your solarchart. Indeed, a new cycle of emotional growth anddevelopment is now underway, from which you can drawmuch inner strength, whilst the support and encouragement ofa significant other inspires you to move beyond self-limitingbeliefs, or the painful memory of loves labors lost. Bringyour innate creativity to bear on ways to broaden yourhorizons, and to envision brighter prospects for the future.

Leo (July 22August 23)Youre inclined to be more forceful ingetting your ideas across early in October,

and are quite determined to have things your way. However, neither your views nor your manner ofpresenting them wil l be well received unlesscouched in a good measure of tact and diplomacy.Indeed, your ideas and novel notions may be quiteprogressive and considerably ahead of the curve, butin order to sell them effectivelyparticularly ifyoure seeking financial backingyoull need toclarify the details, as well as the big picture.Theres a possibility of landing a lucrative newwork assignment in November which might alsoallow you to bring about a positive transformationof your domestic environment, or perhaps move toan altogether nicer home.

Affirmations (meaning a statement saidwith confidence about a perceived truth)have helped thousands of people makesignificant changes in their lives. Butthey dont always work for everyone.

Why can one person have great success using this toolwhile another sees no results at all?

An affirmation can work as it has the ability to pro-gram your mind into believing the stated concept. Thisis because the mind doesnt know the differencebetween what is real or fantasy. When you watch amovie and you start to laugh or cry your mind isempathizing with the characters on the screen eventhough it is only Hollywood magic. There are both pos-itive and negative types of affirmations. Im sure manyof us can remember as a child being told by a teacher, parent or coach that we didnt have the ability to dosomething, or we were fat, clumsy, etc. These unwhole-some statements can stay with us in the conscious orunconscious mind, which we then reinforce throughoutour lives.

For example, the fear of failure, according to HeinzKohut, the grandfather of psychology of the self, is oftenintimately connected to a childhood fear of being aban-doned either physically or emotionally. When we fearfailure, we tend to overestimate the risk were taking andimagine the worst possible scenariothe emotionalequivalent of our primary caretakers deserting us. Whatwe picture is so dreadful that we convince ourselves thatwe shouldnt even try to change. We avoid opportunitiesfor success, and then, when we fail, the unwholesomeaffirmation we unwittingly re-confirm is Success justisnt written in my stars or Its just not in my karma!

If an unwholesome belief is deeply rooted in ourunconscious mind then it has the ability to override apositive affirmation even if we arent aware of it. This iswhy for many people affirmations dont seem to work astheir afflicted thought patterns are so strong that itknocks out the effect of the positive statement. So howcan we add more muscle to an affirmation so it has thepower to triumph over our negative thinking? Here aresome suggestions on how to make them work for you.

    By Ronald Alexander, PhD

    THE PPOWEROWER OF AFFIRMATIONS

    How to Make Them

    Work for You

  • 5 Steps to Make Affirmations MoreEffective & Powerful

Step 1: Make a list of what youve always thought of asyour negative qualities. Include any criticisms othershave made of you that youve been holding onto;whether its something your siblings, parents and peersused to say about you when you were a child, or whatyour boss told you in your last annual review. Dontjudge if theyre accurate and remember we all haveflaws. This is one of the beauties of being human.Simply make a note of them and look for a commontheme, such as Im unworthy. This will be a greatplace to start making a shift in your life. When you writeout the recurring belief notice if you holding on to itanywhere in your body? For example, do you feel tight-ness or dread in your heart or stomach? In my book,Wise Mind, Open Mind I discuss in detail on how to letgo of negative self-judgments but for now ask yourself ifthis unwholesome concept is helpful or productive inyour life and if not, what would be.

Step 2: Now write out an affirmation on the positiveaspect of your self-judgment. You may want to use a the-saurus to find more powerful words to beef up yourstatement. For example instead of saying, Im worthy. You could say, Im remarkable and cherished. Afteryou have written your affirmation then ask a close friendto read it to see if they have any suggestions to make itstronger.

Step 3: Speak the affirmation out loud for about fiveminutes three times a daymorning, mid day andevening. An ideal time to do this is when youre puttingyour make up or shaving so that you can look at yourselfin the mirror as you repeat the positive statement.Another option that helps to reinforce the new belief andwould be easy to do at work is to write out the affirma-tion several times in a notebook. Notice over time as youwrite it if your style of writing changes. This could be aclue as to how your mind perceives the new concept. Icall this exercise using the mindfulness journal to for-ward the agenda of the positive affirmation.

Step 4: Anchor the affirmation in your body as you arerepeating it by placing your hand on the area that feltuncomfortable when you wrote out the negative belief inStep One. Also breathe into the affirmation while youare saying or writing it. As you reprogram your mindyou want to move from the concept of the affirmation toa real, positive embodiment of the quality you seek.

Step 5: Get a friend or coach to repeat your affirmationto you. As they are saying for example, You areremarkable and cherished identify this statement asgood mothering or good fathering messages. If youdont have someone who you feel comfortable askingthen use your reflection in the mirror as the person whois reinforcing the healthy message.

Affirmations can be a powerful tool to help you changeyour mood, state of mind, and manifest the change youdesire in your life. But they work best if you can firstidentify the unwholesome belief that is opposing them.If these suggestions are still not helping then I recom-mend seeing a professional therapist to help you uncov-er what is buried deep in your unconscious and/or start amindfulness meditation practice. Mindfulness medita-tion is a very effective method to help you uncover yourunconscious thought patterns and allows you to catego-rize them identifying what is wholesome, negative andafflicted. Mindfulness is not about change rather itsabout the power and ability to accept first what is then totransmute towards what is possible. Try it and see howyour life can improve!

Dreamed up RealityDiving Into Mind to Uncover theAstonishing Hidden Tale of NatureBy Bernardo Kastrup

A strong and growing intuition in societytoday is the idea that our thoughts create ourown reality. Yet it seems obvious that, try aswe might, our lives are not quite what we fan-tasize. Is the intuition thus wrong? Through arational, methodic interpretation of meditativeinsights, the validity of which is substantiatedwith a compelling scientific literature review,

the author constructs hypotheses that reconcile facts with intuition.Mesmerizing narratives of his expeditions into the unconscious sug-gest an amazing possibility: just as dreams are seemingly autonomousmanifestations of our psyche, reality may be an externalized combina-tion of the subconscious dreams of us all, mixed as they are projectedonto the fabric of space-time.

    The Practice of TraditionalWestern Herbalism

    Basic Doctrine, Energetics, and Classification

    By Matthew Wood

The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalismplaces the function of western herbs in theirtrue historical context, apart from homeopa-thy, traditional Chinese medicine, andAyurveda. Recently there has been a revivalof interest in western herbalism, but practi-tioners havent been able to explore its ben-efits due to a void of information on the topic.Herbalist Matthew Wood has researched the old-time practices andreconstructed them for modern use. In resuscitating western herbalmedicine and bringing it up to date, he gives his readers a powerfultool for holistic theory and treatment. Wood makes the point that plantmedicines, because they are made from a broad range of chemical com-ponents, are naturally suited for the treatment of general patterns in thebody. He argues against the biomedical model of standardization, inwhich herbs are refined and advertised as if they were drugs suited toan exact disease or condition.

Evolution is evolving from unconsciouschance to conscious choice. We are enter-ing the first Age of Conscious Evolution. Why? Because we obviously affect ourown evolution by all the choices we make

from the food we eat, the number of babies we have, the cars we drive, and the weapons we build.

Humans have no experience at being responsible forglobal change at this level. We are facing the possibilityof the collapse of our life support system. Or, I believe, the emergence of something new, something better thanwe have ever known before. This shift in evolutionbegan overtly in 1945 when the United States droppedthe first atomic bombs on Japan. The signal went out tothe world: we now have the power to destroy life onEarth. I was fifteen years old.

I could see at that time that self-conscious humans,in top-down competitive structures such as nation states, organized religion, and global corporations, could nothandle this degree of power. We had suddenly gainedcapacities we used to attribute to our gods.

We can blow up worlds, and we can build newworlds in space. We can travel with the speed of light byimage; we can create new life forms or destroy our life;we can tap into immense energy or run out of energy.

I began to ask a great question: What is the mean-ing of our new powers in science and technology thatare good and what are positive images of the futurethat are equal to our new powers? I read religion andphilosophy as a young girl and found that no one knewthe answer. The powers were so new.

I went to Bryn Mawr College and found I could noteven ask the question there. There were no subjects onit. My father used to say to me: Barbara, you are thebest in the fieldbut there is no field!

I went to Paris in 1947 to study at the Ecole desSciences Politiques. Despair and a sense of the absurdi-ty of life were rampant in Paris after two world wars andthe bomb. One day I was having lunch on the LeftBank, and a handsome American walked in and satdown next to me. I asked him my question What do youthink is the meaning of this new power that is good?

and he responded, I am an artist, and I am seeking anew image of man commensurate with our powers toshape the future.

The idea crossed my mind, Im going to marryyou! And I did. He told me that when a culture loses itsstory and its image of the future, it declines. We hadclearly lost our story of progress, and the image ofhumans now portrayed in the arts and theater was of adisintegrating destructive force. Yet I had innate hopeand had to find out what I was hopeful about.

I went to see President Eisenhower in 1952, justafter he became president. My father was an old col-league of the President. I was taken into the Oval Office. He greeted me kindly: What can I do for you younglady? Mr. President, I said, I have a question: Whatdo you think is the meaning of all our new power that isgood? He looked startled, shook his head and said, Ihave no idea.

So it flashed in my mind, Well, we better find out! This has been my life quest, and I believe just now

we are discovering the proper response. We do have a new story. It is the Universe Story.

When we place ourselves IN this 13.7 billion-universestory we discover the pattern and an evolutionaryprocess of action we CAN DO.

We see that our crises are comparable to past evolu-tionary shift points. The only difference is now we areconscious that we are causing our own extinction. This

is what I call conscious evolutionthe greatest wakeup call we have ever had for the human species to grow up!

Here are some lessons we can learn and apply to ourown situation.

    Problems are evolutionary drivers.

    Crises precede transformation.

Evolution takes jumps through greater synergy:separate parts coming together to form a new wholegreater than and different from the sum of its parts.

Evolution creates radical newness. Once there wasno Earth, then Earth appeared. Once there was no life, and life appeared.

Evolution raises consciousness and freedomthrough more complex order. According to Teilhard deChardin, the great philosopher, the noosphere, themind sphere or the thinking layer of Earth, with all ourInternet and global intelligence, is about to get its col-lective eyes. We are about to connect center with centerand heart with heart.

Empathy is rising. Spirituality is growing. Healingsare happening. The Internet is connecting us every-where. A Wheel of Co-creation is forming in everyfield and functioninnovations in Health, Education,

Energy, Conscious Business and Environmental aware-ness are accelerating and beginning to connecta wholesystem breakthrough out of the whole system break-down.

We need one more conscious effort to connect thepositive to make the shift in timeto midwife our ownbirth toward the next stage of our evolution. We may beone fraction of an evolutionary second from either con-necting what is creative and loving and innovativeordevolution and extinction. This situation is danger-ousyet natural.

What do we need to do right now?

I believe it is time to rapidly connect what is working inevery field and function, and communicate through allmedia as fast as we can our creativity, innovations andcapacities to make it through together. We should becalling upon each othereveryone on Earth to knowthat they have a part in this birth. Each of us is givenan impulse of evolution within, a hearts desire to real-ize our greater potential. Wherever we are, whateverour situation, we are capable of giving a gift to theshift, from one phase of evolution to the next.

In 1984, I ran an idea campaign for a PositiveFuture for the vice presidency on the Democratic ticket.I proposed a Peace Room as sophisticated as a warroom in the office of the VP to scan for, map, connect, and communicate what is working. I was actually theother woman along with Geraldine Ferraro whose namewas placed in nomination. In my speech I shared, It isnow in our capacity to destroy civilization as we know itor to build a world of unprecedented opportunity for allpeople.

number of questions to the truth ofthose claims. As we have learnt onoccasions there have been brave peoplewho will speak out against the setridged ways of scientific thinking.Another person in the past was, HenryH Bauer who at that time was editor inchief of the Journal of ScientificExploration, who gave a very poorassessment of science, he says:

Mainstream orthodoxy routinelyresists novelties that later becomeaccepted. Throughout the 20th century

there are examples: Bretzs Spokaneflood. Mc Clintocks recognition ofjumping genes. Mitchells insightsinto biological energy mechanisms,Woeses Archaea, and McCullyshomocysteine.

Only late in the 20th century didscience grudgingly accept thatacupuncture can have some analgesiceffect. They finally accepted that balllightening exists, that it is not silly tosearch for intelligent life in the uni-verse. ufodigest.com

Scientists at the leading edge of osteology(bone research) are discovering that in addi-tion to immune strength, blood cell pro-duction, and nervous system function, ahealthy skeletal system is also essential to

insulin sensitivity, energy metabolism, and weightmanagement.

The common bone disease osteoporosis accounts for2.6 million doctors office visits and 180,000 place-ments in nursing homes across the country each year.According to the Surgeon General, by 2020 this poten-tially life-changing condition will afflict nearly half ofall Americans over

Behind this alarming trend lies an even greaterthreat to the public health most doctors dont knowabout. It turns out that strong, healthy bones play a fargreater role in overall health than previously known.

In this article, the most recent data on these findingsare detailed. You will also discover how calcium, mag-nesium, and potassium, along with vitamins D3 and K,act to optimize these functions for bone strength and sys-tem-wide health.

Until recently, the human skeleton was known toserve three basic functions. The first was its role in pro-viding structural support for muscles and protection forinternal organs. The second was its function as a reser-voir for important mineral ions, especially calcium and

magnesium, which are vital to nerve and muscle cellfunctioning and electrical conduction. Finally, the mar-row space of many bones harbors all of the bodysblood-producing tissues and a major part of the cellularimmune system.

Just five years ago, however, scientists discovered afourth, unexpected function. Bone-forming cells calledosteoblasts were found to produce a hormone-like sig-naling protein called osteocalcin. It was further revealedthat osteocalcin stimulates pancreatic insulin secretionand improves insulin sensitivity in tissues throughoutthe body.

Osteocalcin reduces fat tissue deposition, whilehigher osteocalcin levels are associated with lower lev-els of leptin. As you read next, suppressing excess lep-tin is important in weight management.

Sometimes called the hunger hormone, leptininduces the feeling of being full after a meal. It plays akey role in regulating energy intake and energy expendi-ture, including appetite and metabolism. Higher leptinlevels are paradoxically detrimental; as with insulin, youcan develop leptin resistance that keeps you from feelingfull. Obese individuals exhibit this resistance.Pathologically elevated leptin levels are detrimental tomultiple tissues in the body and correlate with insulinresistance, inflammation, stroke, hypertension, andother dangerous health conditions.

High leptinlevels also exert anadverse effect overosteocalcin func-tion: the more lep-tin your bodysfatty tissue pro-duces, the lessosteocalcin yourbone cells release, and the worseyour insulin resist-ance becomes.

And in a final unexpected discovery, leptin achieves thateffect by suppressing your osteoblasts activity, decreas-ing your ability to build new bone, and threatening yourbone health.

An additional indicator of how good bone healthaffects longevity is the now well-understood relationshipbetween skeletal health and atherosclerosis. Via a vari-ety of mechanisms, as calcium leaves the bones in theprocess of osteoporosis, it builds up instead in bloodvessel walls, leading to dangerous calcified plaquedeposits. Those deposits can rupture, causing an imme-diate arterial blockage and producing a sudden heartattack or catastrophic stroke.

It is this close interrelationship between bone healthand total body health that has intensified scientific inter-est in identifying nutritional strategies to optimize bonehealth and strength.

Most doctors dont know about these new findings. And most Americans, including many health-consciousindividuals, dont get enough of the nutrients they needto support healthy bones. Adequate bone nutritionhinges on the following group of nutrients that worksynergistically to optimize skeletal health and ward offmultiple diseases of aging.
