EarthFax specializes in restoring and protecting the environment. Reclamation of disturbed land is often a regulatory requirement, astewardship responsibility, and/or an economic necessity. EarthFax workswith clients to ensure that available resources are properly evaluated andreclamation plans are appropriately designed to restore disturbed land toproductive use while achieving the clients’ regulatory, stewardship, oreconomic goals. Our designs have been awarded state, national, andinternational recognition.

Performance of first-order soil surveysfor several existing and proposed coalmining operations in Utah, includingmapping, sampling, laboratory analysis, anddelineation of topsoil resources.

Preparation of topsoil handling plansfor areas proposed for disturbance.

Delineation of substitute topsoil forreclamation use where true topsoilmaterials were not available due to priordisturbance.

Design of reclamation plans for nearly30 coal and mineral mining operations,involving over 1,800 acres of disturbedland, including grading plan design,determination of cut and fill volumes,design of reclaimed stream channels,development of topsoiling and revegetationplans, and submittal of plans to regulatoryagencies for approval.

Evaluations of the feasibility of highwallretention following reclamation of minesurface facilities, including determinationsof the long-term geomorphic stability ofretained highwalls and the aestheticimpacts of the highwalls compared tonearby natural cliffs.

Supervision of reclamation atapproximately 20 coal and mineral minesin the western United States

Design of a plan to recover coal fromwaste rock at an underground mine inthe Russian Far East prior to reclamation ofthe site.
