Thank You for trying out the EASE X2 Pro Scan Tool! EASE provides two different modes to help you determine if the X2 Pro software is right for you.

In “Demo” Mode, select a specific vehicle(s) to see what modules and data are supported by the software.

“Try Before You Buy” Mode allows actual communication with a vehicle. If you have a compatible ELM interface, EASE Vehicle Interface or EASE Universal Reprogrammer, you can use the EASE X2 Pro Scan Tool live on any chosen vehicle and try out all the software's capabilities. (Live data is scrambled until software is purchased). This also allows you to see if your ELM interface is compatible with the EASE software. See www.easescantool.com for supported vehicle interfaces.

DEMO MODE and TRY BEFORE YOU BUY MODE – Download and Install the Software

ATTENTION: Before beginning, close any other running applications, including anti-virus software.

Follow the instructions below to install the software. Video install instructions to supplement these print instructions are available at www.fixcarsfaster.com. Be sure to read the PC Requirements.

1. If you haven’t already, go to the web address in the email you received from EASE to begin the software download: http://www.automotivescantool.com/download/pcst_pro_12.0/pcst_pro_12.exe

2. Locate the install file pcst_pro_12.exe in the folder you downloaded to and run it.

3. The Welcome Screen will be displayed. Click “Next” to continue.

Note: If you have an older version of the EASE X2 Pro PC Scan Tool software installed, you may see a screen prompting you to uninstall a previous version. After the old version has been uninstalled the Welcome screen will be displayed.

4. This will bring up the Software License Agreement. Please read the agreement carefully then check the box to accept the terms. Click “Next” to continue.

5. Choose your preferred installation type in the Setup Type

screen and then click “Next” to continue.

a. “Complete” will install All Domestic, Asian and Euro Scan Tools - recommended

b. “Compact” will only install the Generic Scan Tool.

c. “Custom” will let you choose which features you want installed.

6. On the Destination Folder screen click “Next” to continue.

7. A confirmation screen will be displayed. Click “Next” to continue and begin the software installation.

8. The “Status” screen will appear and show the installation progress.

Note: If a previous version of the scan tool was installed on the PC, the “Data Migration Wizard” may be displayed at end of the installation to transfer your saved data from the previous version to the new version. Follow the directions on this wizard if you wish to transfer data. Otherwise it can be ignored by clicking “Cancel”

During the install process, you may see an alert screen similar to those shown to the right.

If a Windows Security box is shown, check the box next to “Always Trust” and click “Install” to continue installing the EASE software and USB drivers. Do NOT press the ENTER key as this will cancel the operation.

If the Software Installation Alert window is shown, click “Continue Anyway”. This window may appear multiple times.

9. When the installation is complete, check “Run EASE Scan Tool now” and then click “Finish”.

If the Scan Tool software does not open, you can start the software using the software’s icon.

Note: If you turned off your virus checker prior to the installation, you can turn it back on now.

DEMO MODE - Getting Started with EASE X2 Pro Demo Mode 1. In the Scan Tool Launcher screen select the OEM that you are

interested in.

2. In the Main Task Screen, check the “Don’t Automatically Connect” checkbox and click “Scan New Vehicle”.

3. In the Enter New Vehicle Screen either enter the vehicle’s

information or VIN and click “OK”.

4. The Select Vehicle System screen will display the controllers

that the Scan Tool supports for the selected vehicle.

Important: All the controllers listed may not be supported by the Vehicle Interface you have or plan to purchase.

Click “Configure Vehicle Interface” to select your vehicle interface.

In the Choose Interface Profile screen, select your interface in the Profile Name column and then click “OK”.

Note: If you would like to Try the Scan Tool software live with your ELM interface connected to vehicle, additional steps are required to configure the software for use with your interface. See Try Before You Buy Mode instructions that follow.

If a controller has a gray background, then it is not supported by the vehicle interface you selected. Note the screenshot to the right. The ELM 327 interface is selected and 5 controllers are grayed out / not supported.

If you look back to the first screen shot for step #4, the EASE EVI-6000 was selected and all the controllers are supported by that interface for the selected vehicle.

5. To see what data parameters the scan tool software has for the selected vehicle, select the Controller Description you are interested in and then click “OK”.

Note: If you see any Communication Options or Error message boxes, cancel or close them.

6. In the Data Grid Screen you will see all the parameters that the EASE Scan Tool software supports for the selected vehicle.

return to the Select Vehicle System screen to look at another controller for the selected vehicle.

Return to the Main Task screen and select a new vehicle by the same OEM.

7. While in the software be sure to check out the other features that EASE has in the tool by using the iconical navigation tool bar at the top of most screens. Getting from one place to another takes just a click of the mouse button. Just click the icon with the graph on it to go to Graphing, click on the icon that says DTC to go to the DTC screen, etc.

8. Close the program and return to the Launcher screen to check out other OEMs.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY MODE – Getting Started with your ELM Interface “Try Before You Buy” Mode allows actual communication with a vehicle however data values are scrambled until software is purchased. If you have a compatible ELM interface, you can use the EASE X2 Pro Scan Tool live on any chosen vehicle and try out all the software's capabilities. This also allows you to see if your vehicle interface is compatible with the EASE software.

The EASE Scan Tool supports many different Vehicle Interfaces so in order to communicate to a vehicle you will first need to configure the Scan Tool to use the ELM Interface that you have.

1. In the Scan Tool Launcher screen select the OEM that you are interested in.

2. In the Main Task Screen, click “Scan New Vehicle”.

3. In the Enter New Vehicle Screen either enter the vehicle’s

information or VIN and click “OK”.

4. The Select Vehicle System screen will display the controllers

that the Scan Tool supports for the selected vehicle.

Click “Configure Vehicle Interface” to create an interface profile for your ELM vehicle interface.

5. Click “New”

6. Type a name for your profile and click “OK”.

7. Select the Vehicle Interface that corresponds to the one you have (see table below) and click “OK”

8. Select which connection method you are using to connect the ELM interface to the PC in the Connection Options screen and then click “OK”.

Note: If you are connecting your Elm to a USB port on your PC using a USB cable, select “USB Adapter to Serial Cable”.

9. Serial and USB Connections – If you selected either Serial Cable or USB Adapter in the previous step, then the screen to the left will be displayed next.

Select the Comm Port / Baud Rate needed for the Connection Option chosen and click “OK”.

To verify the Comm Port Number, select the “Device Manager” button to go directly to your Device Manger screen on your PC. Look under the “Ports” setting.

Wireless Connection – If you selected Wireless in the previous step, then the screen to the left will be displayed next. Complete the screen and click “OK”.

10. Select the Profile you just created and click “OK”

11. The Select Vehicle System screen will display the controllers

that the Scan Tool supports for the selected vehicle. Select the controller you are interested in and then click “OK”.

Note: If a controller has a gray background, then it is not supported by the vehicle interface you selected. Note the screenshot to the right. The ELM 327 interface is selected and 5 controllers are grayed out / not supported.

If you look back to the first screen shot for step #4, the EASE EVI-6000 was selected and all the controllers are supported by that interface for the selected vehicle.

12. The Vehicle Communications Screen will display next. Click the “OK” button when enabled to start using the scan tool software.

Note: If the software is not able to connect to your ELM interface,

• Try clicking the "Reset" button on the Vehicle Communications Screen.

• Check the cabling to make sure the interface is connected to the vehicle and PC. Ensure that none of the pins in the cable or connector are bent.

• Verify the interface has power. Check that the fuse in the vehicle for the DLC connector has not blown.

• Verify the vehicle key is in the ON position or the vehicle is running

• Ensure that the car alarm or theft system is off.

• Select the Configure Vehicle Interface button and verify the correct interface profile is selected and the communication information for the profile is correct for your interface.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY MODE – Getting Started with your EASE Interface “Try Before You Buy” Mode allows actual communication with a vehicle however data values are scrambled until software is purchased. If you purchased an EASE Universal Reprogrammer or NC or PA emissions system, your EASE interface can also be used with the Scan Tool software. In order to connect to a vehicle, you will first need to configure the Scan Tool software to use the EASE Interface that you have.

Follow the steps in the previous section -TRY BEFORE YOU BUY MODE – Getting Started with your ELM Interface. Instead of selecting an ELM interface, select the EASE Vehicle Interface or Reprogrammer that you have in the Choose Interface Profile screen.
