Preface

One of the provincial government’s superior programs today is tourism. To fur-ther accelerate development of tourist arrivals in the province of East Nusa Teng-gara then it has made various promotional and marketing activities of tourism to build a new branding of NTT Tourism as the The Ring of Beauity.

As the Top Experience Destinations now we produce Callendar of NTT Torism Events 2020; as the Tourism Centre Information and media for travelers, tourists and potential tourists who want to visit and enjoy the unique exotic event. This book presents complete informations of tourism events held in NTT from January to December informations as well as access to various tourist destinations in the province. Hopefully, this book would be a useful guideline for all of you to leading tourist destinations and events in the region.

About East Nusa TenggaraEast Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is one of the provinces in East Indonesia and Kupang is the capital city. It is a strategic one because it is located between two neighboring countries of East Timor (Timor Leste) and Australia. NTT province is an archipelago consisting of several large ands namely Flores, Sumba, Timor, Alor, Lembata, Rote, Sabu, Adon-ara, Solor, Komodo and Palue and approximately 550 small islands. In addition to its strategic geographical boundaries, a matter of fact NTT has a lot of tourism potential, beautiful and exotic events. Natural most beautiful and astonished maritime, of course perfect your plan to visit this place.

We have two wonders of the world (Kelimutu Lake Ende Flores and Komodo Na-tional Park, West Manggarai), natural and beautiful events whick make NTT is getting sexy in the view of world travelers. It also becomes tourist magnet because of wealth of Natural Tourism, Historical Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Special Interest Tourism, Culi-nary Tourism, Sports Tourism, and Shopping Tourism.

The most famous NTT spir-itual tourist object is Supreme Friday procession in Larantuka, Easter Parade in Kupang, Traditional Easter “Kure” in Kote-Noemuti, and various tourism loci like international class prayer parks at Oebelo and Lembata.

NTT is also still attached to its traditional rituals and beliefs adopted by most tradi-tional societies like Merapu in Sumba, Jenitiu in Sabu; also traditional tribal communi-ties in Boti TTS regency, Bena traditional village in Ngada and megalithic culture in Sumba. There are also cultural heritage sites, namely Bung Karno and Pancasila monu-ment in Ende, nature reserves Fatumnasi Mutis in TTS and National Park Kelimutu in Ende. The wealth of traditional ikat weaving becomes another attraction that can be encountered in every district. While traditional dances can be enjoyed by visitors such as Gawi Ende, Jai Ngada, Thebes Belu, Foti Rote, Monijo Kupang and Padoa in Sabu. All the rituals and tourism events are now arranged well on this NTT Tourism Callender of Event Book.

How to Get Here East Nusa Tenggara Province now can be accessed well through Air, Sea and

Land transportations. International Airport El Tari Kupang is now connecting NTT and major cities in this country: from Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar and Makassar. Flights from Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar also have been opened to Maumere-Labuan Bajo, Waingapu, Ende and Tambolaka which currently de-termined by the provincial government to be tourism entrances.

To access all regencies/municipalities in NTT, currently there are approxi-mately 14 airports; five of them have been able to accommodate aircraft of Boeing 737, such as El Tari Kupang Airport, Komodo Airport Labuan Bajo, Frans Seda Maumere Airport, Tambolaka Airport and Mehang Kunda Waingapu Airport. Besides, some adequate support airports can be landed by Fokker 27, 28 and Fokker 100 that are Airports of Aoerobusman Ende, Mali Alor, Ngada

Soa, Wunopito Lembata, Gewayana Tanah Larantuka, Bere Tallo Atambua and Sales Lega Ruteng - Manggarai Regency.

Some Flight Companies which now serve commercial routes to NTT con-sist of Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air, Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, NAM Air, Wings Air, TransNusa and Susi Air. Recently TransNusa has opened the interna-tional route from Kupang to Dili, Timor Leste and it is planned to serve direct fligth Kupang- Darwin Australia on the end of 2019.

International port Tenau Kupang is the entrance of sea and main commercial port to NTT. The tourists who have enough time can also use the services of Ferry ships to almost all regencies in the province in high intensity. The access of land transport is certainly running well because many modes of transporta-tions are already available to assist transportation needs of travelers.

Atypical traditional feast held at Bena cultural village, located 12 kilometers from Bajawa town. It is celebrated in January, February or at the end of December to wel-come the new year, initiated with a feast of eating sweet potatoes ac-companied with cultural dances and traditional music. Held at the beginning of farmers’ planting season, in March, marked by erection of bamboo masts and areca nuts splitting ceremony, ac-companied with a traditional dance called Lego-lego. The ceremony is performed at Takpala traditional vil-lage, West Lembor village, where the southern marine tourist attractions of Pantar island are located, besides magnifi cent traditional cultural vil-lages of Mombang and Bampola.

Pasola, which has been a custom for most people of Sumba and has been running for decades – even it is said that their ancestors hundreds of years ago, it became a media to attract people in such a way. Not surprisingly, traditional leaders which are called Rato, always perform rituals beforehand on the beach in the dark morning (commonly called the ceremony “Nyale”, by arresting a number of worms as an offering from their ancestors), then continue until noon when the attractions Stunt riding, throw-ing spears held. Thus is a Holy Thursday, at Kote residents in Noemuti Sub-district, North Central Timor (TTU) held TaniuUisNeno ritual; it was a program of cleaning statues of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the cross by bathing them. Another ritual held then was collecting offerings of fruit from residents. Water used to bathe the statue was then distributed to residents to wash faces, legs, and arms that were believed to cure and keep the disease away from them. The tradition of the Portuguese heritage since 1916 is called Kure. The highlight Kure itself occurred during the Three Holy Weeks of Easter ranging from Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

Both of these spiritual events are celebrated on a large scale and they become rare momen-tum scheduled regularly that involve tens of thousands of people/followers.Easter Parade in Kupang is usually organized by Youth of GMIT Board. This parade depicts a complete story from Scripture of Old Testament to New Testament. The event taken place in cultural nuance of enculturation is usually followed by tens of thousands of religious commu-nities from churches denominations in NTT Province, Catholics and the participation of all elements and components including representatives of Muslims, Hindu and Buddha.

samana santa laRantuka east FloRes RegenyParade in Kupang East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has two agenda of religious tourism that attract domestic and international atten-tion. There are Good Friday Samana Santa procession in Larantuka, East Flores to com-memorate the Death of Jesus Christ and the Easter parade festive in memory of the joy of resurrection of Christ which is also held in the city of Kupang. Logu Senhor (Logu=bow, Senhor=Lord) is to bow under the Cross of the Lord usually done by thousands of Catholics and pilgrims at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Sikka village, Maumere diocese. The catholic communities come not only from the vil-lage of Sikka, but also outside the region and even from all Indonesia. Sikka village is located in southern, coastal district of Sikka and takes about 45 minutes from the town of Maumere.

Samana Santa, an ancient tradition which is now entering the age of 504 years, while the Easter parade is already 20 years now and it is held regularly in the city of Ku-pang. Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Flores Timur Propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur terus menggiatkan event untuk menggenjot promosi dan pelestar-ian potensi seni budaya dan pariwisata di daerah itu. 3 gunung Festivallembata Regency, 26-31 august

Festival Tiga Gunung scheduled take place on every September 22-29. This event is combined with the 73rd Anniversary of the Independence Proclamation 17 August any many competition followed by students. There are also Lamaholot cultural festival involving; Fashion Show, and also Umbrella Festival and Lembata Youth Music Competition. This event centered in the Bukit Cinta area will also be enlivened by a short dura-tion documentary filmmaking competition and Lembata Featured Products exhibition which involves all businesses in Lembata.

Sabu Raijua Regency, is becoming increasingly popular after Kelabba Madja became nominee for the 2018 Pesona Indonesia (API) Award. Kellaba Madja is the newest natural tourist destination from NTT which won the first place in the Most Hidden Hidden Paradise category, eliminating dozens of its competitors. After winning the API 2018 event, local, domestic and foreign tourists reportedly flocked to visit the tourist attraction located in HawuMehara District. This event held on hold 9-12 September annually.

Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) mempunyai sebuah event bernuasa religius Kristen Protestan yang dinamai Gerakan Kebangunan Rohani (GKR). Event yang digelar setiap 26 September itu menjadi momen Wisata Rohani Nasional dan dihadiri oleh Kelompok Persekutuan Doa dari berbagai pelosok nusantara dan dunia. Ribuan jemaat nampak khusus dalam doa dan puji-pujian kepada Tuhan. Mereka datang dari Australia, China, Malaysia, Timor Leste, Eropa serta delegasi dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia yakni dari Jawa,Bali, Am-bon dan kota-kota di Nusa Tenggara Timur. Gerakan ini sebenarnya adalah sebuah refleksi atas perjalanan gereja Kristen Protestan di TTS yang berkembang pesat hingga saat ini karena ada peristiwa iman dan mukjizat sorgawi yang pernah terjadi pada tahun 1965 di kota itu.

Festival Li Ngae digelar selama sembilan hari di Pulau Semau, Kabupaten Kupang, setiap tanggal 17-25 Oktober. Kegiatan itu digagas Pemerin-tah Desa Otan, Kecamatan Semau, Kabupaten Kupang dan didukung oleh Dinas Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif Provinsi NTT. Sejumlah kegiatan disajikan diantaranya pameran tenun ikat, atraksi massal dan lomba Tarian Li Ngae, lomba tutur adat Bahasa Helong, lomba paduan suara, lomba tarian kreatif dan tenun ikat. Selain itu lomba dayung perahu, lomba catur, kunjungan ke Pantai Otan dan Pantai Liman yang terkenal sangat indah dan sudah banyak dikunjungi wisatawan mancanegara. Ada juga pasar murah, pengobatan gratis dan bakti sosial berupa pembagian bibit rumput laut.

Teluk Mulut Seribu, di Kabupaten RoteNdao menawarkan gugusan pulau – pulau kecil berjum-lah 22 buah pulau yang sangat indah dan eksotis. Fulan FeHan Festivalbelu Regency

The Fulan Fehan Festival take place at Fulan Fehan Peak, Belu District. This event presents Likurai Dance delivered by more than 1,500 dancers. Thousands of people from the district Belu and the country of Timor Leste attends. On the stretch of the valley of the Fulan Fehan hill which is 800 meters above the sea level, the Likurai dance is performed. It is lively and very entertaining, the dance is captivating, the loca-tion is very beautiful and in an instant the valley at the foot of Mount Lakaan that presents a pano-ramic view of the vast green savanna becomes a sea of humans.

Hegong Festival and ge mu Fa mi Resikka Regency, 13-20 octobeR

Hegong dance is one of the most populer dance from Maumere, Sikka Regency. This dance is usually played in groups by male and famale dancers with a distinetive custom Plain clothes and accompained by local traditional music called gong waning. As a tra-ditional dance, Hegong is now well known because it always performed in various events such us on ritual events, for welcoming guests and also for local party ceremony, local art festivals and various others.
