CALLED TO ORDER: The EOCCS’ Board of Trustees’ Meeting was called to Order at 12:15 p.m. by Nancy Bartolo, Chairperson, presiding.

In compliance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, P.L. 1975, c.231 and the N.J.S.A. 18A:36-A-6, this is notification of the scheduled open public meetings of the East Orange Community Charter School’s Board of Trustees on TUESDAY, JUNE 26, 2018 @ 12:00 P.M. The purpose of the meeting is to review and/or approve any new business, school reports and related activities.

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Bartolo asked Ms. Jefferson to conduct the roll call. The results were as follows:

After the roll call, Ms. Jefferson announced that we have a quorum and the meeting continued on.

REPORTS CHAIRWOMAN’S REPORT

Mrs. Bartolo shared that the “Moving-Up” ceremony was nice. She thanked Mr. Staton for his contribution of Master of Ceremonies for the ceremony. She really appreciated the Pledge of Allegiance being presented in both English and Spanish. Everyone one was well dressed and Mrs. Bartolo thanked everyone for their participation in making this another successful event. Mrs. Bartolo moved on and asked for the Reports to be given beginning with Mr. Scott our Treasurer of School Monies.

TREASURER OF SCHOOL MONIES REPORT – Presented by Joel Julien in the absence of Mr. Raymond Scott. Mr. Julien provided an overview of the Treasurer’s Report for the Month ending May, 2018 $1,619,663.13/ [$70,858.61]. He discussed the Revenue, Expenditures and Cash Balance Report for all Funds.

“BILL LIST” The Bill List $501,859.93 as of JUNE 26, 2018 was presented by Joel Julien.

SCHOOL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Joel Julien presented the SBA report for the month of May 2018.

Performing Arts School; 9) The month of June marks the completion of all Administrative

Evaluations by Mr. Dash; 10) Former EOCCS Students/Alumni came back to visit the school and to

inform us that they are doing a great job at Pride Academy. The two children are going to 6th and 8th grades this Fall

Scout Summary 2017-2018 The Charter School Girl Scouts – Daisy Troop 211247, Junior Troop 21249 and Older Girl Troop 21246 – had a great year in 2017-2018. There were 49 girls registered with the troops.

We kept busy all year long! Below are the highlights by month:

November – the Charter School Girl Scouts held its Senior Luncheon at Norman Towers in East Orange, which was attended by 30 girls. All the seniors in attendance were presented with a gift bag of toiletries;

December – 30 girls attended the Hip-Hop Nutcracker at NJPAC, viewing a modern rendition of the Nutcracker;

February – 32 girls went ice skating at Codey Arena in West Orange, participating in a sport most inner-city girls do not get a chance to experience;

March – 6 girls invited to close out the NSADAQ trading day with the new African-American CEO of our local council, Girl Scout Council Heart of New Jersey;

March & April – 29 girls participated in cookie booth sales gaining entrepreneurial and customer service skills;

May – 39 girls went rustic camping at Camp Lou Henry Hoover in Middleville, NJ. There the girls took nature hikes, dipped candles, tried their hands at archery, paddled boats and cooked out. The trip was sponsored by the Orphan Society of the Oranges;

June – The 27 girls spent the night in South Jersey visiting the Adventure Aquarium and participating in Girl Scout Day at Fun-Plex in Mount Laurel, NJ. 27 girls participated in a Spa Tea Party at Parteaz in East Hanover and 10 girls participated in an outdoor skydiving at iFly Paramus after learning about the physics of flight.

The year culminated with a Court of Awards Ceremony where all the scouts were presented with the patches they earned during the year. Trophies were awarded to the 3 girls who sold the most cookies.
