We would especially like to thank the participating restaurants for donating all of their food and labor so that we can use the money raised from Flavors to fund an increased security operation, which includes 2 officers patrolling the Avenue from midnight to 3am from Memorial Day to Labor Day Weekend.  Many thanks to our Sponsors! EPABID and Passyunk Av-enue Revitalization Corpora-tion are working hard to keep East Passyunk even cleaner with new street cleaning equipment! You may see us post ‘no parking’ signs from time to time to get to the hard-to-reach gutters – please help us reach the tough spots by following the signs.

New Street Cleaning Equipment

The East Passyunk Avenue Business Im-provement District is a non-profit and relies on the help of volunteers to com-plete our many projects and bring new ideas to the table. Our Promotions Com-mittee meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 10am at the BID office. If you have an idea for a new event or promo-tion or something you’d like to see added to our existing programs, this is the venue

to have your idea become a reality!

We also need volunteers for all of our special events. If you are interested in becoming a committee member or would like more information volunteering for any of our projects, please contact Re-nee Gilinger at 215-336-1455 or [email protected]. We need you to make our Avenue reach its full potential!

Unfortunately warm weather can also bring an increase in thefts and other crimes, including bicycle thefts, purse snatching, shoplifting and graffiti. Some things to remember:

If you or your tenants have expensive bikes or even just have expensive bike parts, try to bring them inside at night and always use a U Lock when this is not possible.

If you have outside tables at your res-taurant or café, ask your guests to come

Public Safety Alertinside to pay so they don’t leave money on the table.

Shoplifters often come in groups and not always at the same time and aren’t always just looking for unattended merchan-dise. Do not leave any personal valuable items like cell phones, purses, or laptops in reach.

If you or your staff have to leave your business late at night, please make sure someone accompanies you/them to a taxi or bus. EPABID has police officers

on the Avenue every Friday and Saturday from midnight to 3am, but it’s a long corridor and we all need to watch out for each other.

If you don’t have security cameras, we will reimburse you for 50% of the cost up to $1,000. Call Renee at 215-336-1455 or email [email protected] for an application – you MUST be approved before you order them.

Other great theft/graffiti deterrents in-clude motion lights that should be set to go on when the sun goes down and signs announcing surveillance. These are also eligible for our façade program.

Councilman Squilla presents a Citation to EPABID Executive Director Renee Gilinger and Board Chair Jim Gallo at a celebration for East Passyunk Avenue’s designation as a ‘Top 10 Foodie Street in America’ by Food & Wine Magazine!
