Meeting of March 29, 2017

Summary Present: (all members): Linda Bealey, Dr. Barbara Fontana, Ginny Lutz, Vinny Manzello, John O’Hare,

Elenore LaPorta, Jim MacDougall, Rich Rossin, Jeff Steinbrecher, Fran Turecamo, Fr. Frank.

Pastor’s Report: A group of parents have come forward and offered to run a parish summer program for our

children and teens. We are able to schedule Vacation Bible Camp this summer (third week of August) for

campers entering Kindergarten thru 6th grade; counselors-in-training are 7th grade, and older teens are coun-

selor along with Adult Volunteers. The Finance Committee will be working on the upcoming year’s budget

and working towards financial solvency. The Committee will also be looking at how to pay down our debt of

unpaid bills.

The Council discussed the importance of not scheduling parish activities during mass times. As we work on

the calendar for 2017-2018, we will be conscious of this throughout the upcoming year. The Faith Formation

Focus Group continues to re-imagine our religious education schedule to make sure there are no conflicts with

Sunday masses.

Youth Ministry questionnaires have been completed and are being compiled and organized. Fr. Frank is

working with the Diocesan Youth Ministry office as we move closer to determining the shape of Youth Minis-

try in the parish. The Vacation Bible Camp will be a good way to involve teens in the parish and spread the

word about Youth Group.

The Council continues to work on the Parish Mission Statement and the Pastoral Plan that will guide our

pastoral work and direction of the parish. The Mission Statement describes who we are as a parish and the fo-

cus of our identity and purpose. Council members had a lively discussion of the current draft, and the subcom-

mittee will work on it during the weeks before the next meeting.

The Pastoral Plan is based on the data collected at the September Parish Listening Session (available on

the parish website). The main areas of concern for the parish (in no particular order) are Youth, Stewardship,

Evangelization, Eucharist and Sacraments, Formation, and Service. The Council wants a Pastoral Plan that ad-

dresses each of these areas. Fr. Frank drafted general goals based on the discussion from February’s meeting.

The Council reacted positively to these goals and will discuss them further after Easter. It is the council’s

hope that the plan can be presented to the parish by the time Fr. Frank is formally installed as our pastor (June

11th).

Duck Pond Day is Sunday, June 4th, Pentecost Sunday. We have designated the 11:15 mass as our “Duck

Pond Mass,” and parishioners are invited to walk down to the festival after mass is over. We will also sponsor

a Marching Band to be part of the Duck Pond Parade at 2:00 p.m.

Next meeting: April 26th, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.

Please consider

“automated giving” as

you reflect on support of our parish family! The fruitful ministries at our parish are examples of how many

of you have answered, and continue to answer, that call. To en-

sure such work can continue requires not only gifts of time, but

also of financial help. I ask you to prayerfully consider support-

ing our parish with electronic donations through Faith Direct.

You can find paper enrollment forms in the parish office, or you

can sign up online at www.faithdirect.net by using our church
