“The Lord is Risen!” He is Risen indeed!”
May you all have a very blessed Easter. Hopefully, the be-ginning of May we will be able to gather again at the Altar of the Lord.
It seems a very strange Easter! We live out the paschal mys-tery in our daily lives. It just seems we are stuck in Good Fri-day experience. Jesus experienced isolation from his apostles and to the extent on the cross when He prayed “My God, My God, why have you abandoned me.” The Eucharist is the source and summit of our lives as Catholics. When we are iso-lated from one another we cannot participate in the Holy Sac-rifice of the Mass. Yes, I am celebrating Mass daily but it is not the same without you being there. Many have expressed the desire for the Eucharist by asking when will we be able to have Mass again? Right now, that will be the month of Our Lady, May. How appropriate that we, a nation under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception should be able to celebrate the sacraments again under Our Lady’s protective intercession.
Thank you so much for those of you who have been send-ing in your envelopes. So far we have not had to deplete our checking account very much. Your continued generosity in this period of isolation is greatly appreciated.
Please continue to pray at home especially the rosary and seek St. Joseph’s intercession to spare us the ravages of this pan-demic. I am grateful that though exposed at the diocese I was spared the disease. Thank you for your prayers for my protec-tion.
Another way to pray at home is to pray the daily scripture readings. For your convenience the readings for the Triduum and Easter Sunday are given below and the times I will private-ly be doing the Masses & Liturgy:
Holy Thursday—Ex. 12:1-8,11-14, 1 Cor. 11: 23-26, 7:00 p.m. Mass John 13: 1-15
Good Friday—Is. 52: 13-53, 12 Hebr. 4: 14-16, 5: 7-9, John 18:1-19; 42 12:15 p.m-Stations of the Cross, 1:00 p.m.—Liturgy, 3:00 p.m. –Divine Mercy Chaplet
Easter Vigil—Gen. 1: 1-2; 2, Exodus 14, 15, Isaiah 55: 1-11, 8:00 p.m. Romans 6: 3-11, Matthew 28: 1-10
CCD has been cancelled for the rest of the year since the schools have been closed to person to person learning. When the Bishop called recently he is still undecided how all the con-firmations will be made up. First Communion has been trans-ferred to Pentecost. This way if the isolation is extended a week or two we will still be able to go forward. Our Blessed Mother will still be crowned the first Sunday in May even if I do it alone. We will get to the other side of this unreal time. I do think we have come to appreciate the importance of family and friends who support us in this trial. May we turn to God for strength. “May the Lord bless you and keep you, may he let His face shine upon you and show you his mercy. May he turn His countenance toward you and give you his peace”. Msgr. George
