Did you know that…We currently have 54
staff comprising Teachers,
Administrative Staff, Grounds & Building
Staff
The GDE only pays the salaries and
benefits of 26 staff
The School’s Governing Body
employs 23 additional staff at the Primary
School
The GDE only contributes R280 000 to the school towards
Learner Teacher Support Material
(LTSM).
Due to changes to the curricula, additional
LTSM costs have been incurred by the
school that are not covered by the State
The GDE annual contribution towards our water and lights will not even pay 1½
months bills (+/-R65 000-00 pm)
The State only contributes R44 000-
00 towards the schools general
maintenance cost per annum
It cost the school R65 000-00 to repair and
resurface the tennis/netball courts
this year
6 staff are employed by the Pre-Primary School and they are paid solely from the
income generated by the Pre-Primary

Why we differ from other
public primary schools?
We currently have an average 31 pupils per class per grade
The teacher / child ratio is only achieved because the school employs extra teaching staff
SGB teachers and support staff are paid solely from the parents
contributions to school fees!
If we do not employ extra teachers then we may end up
with 45 to 50 learners per class!
The school provides all learners with remedial assistance and has employed a specialist in
this field to do the assessments!
The school provides a feeding scheme to needy pupils under
auspices of the “Eastleigh Outreach Initiative “
The school provides access to Social Services provided by the
State within the school environment to learners and
their families
What factors inhibit our school providing
good quality education?
10th October 2012 4th Term Parents Evenings - SGB Presentation 5
Parents who have not applied for an exemption
who then fail to contribute financially to
the school
Decreasing State Assistance
Increased class sizes with a lack of resources
Employment costs not covered by the State
increases overall school fees payable Increasing costs incurred
to maintain the school that are not paid by the
State
Costs incurred by the school for changes to
curriculum implemented by the State (e.g. CAPS
vs. Outcomes Based Education)
State is slow to contribute towards new
classroom facilities at the school
Negative factors that inhibit our progress…
10th October 2012 4th Term Parents Evenings - SGB Presentation 6
Solution is very simple…
Parents should pay their school fees on time so as to ensure that the school can meet its financial
commitments
Parents who cannot pay school fees
must be honest and truthful in their
exemption applications
All Parents should assist the School
Governing Body to raise funds for the
school
Parents should be conspicuous by
their involvement with the school and not be noticeable by their absence
