    in

    LetterFrom

    To

    ellow

    Christians:

    I

    would just

    l i k e

    to say

    a

    few words.

    My

    i f e

    a nd

    I

    have recently been

    baptized.

    In the a s t

    few

    years

    we have

    gone

    through some bad

    times. In 1990 I

    l o s t

    my

    ob through

    a small mistak e.

    I

    f e l t that

    my

    hole l i f e

    had

    come

    o

    a

    breaking point

    so

    at

    this

    time

    I went o St.

    Mar k's Church

    of

    England)

    to s e e k g u i d a n c e . A f t e r a t t e n d i n g f o r

    over

    a y e a r

    I

    s t i l l

    felt the

    same.

    The turning

    point

    came n

    J u n e

    1991 when our

    minister Vernon did a

    service

    in remembrgmce f my

    s i s t e r who ad passed away.

    So through t h i s

    I

    t o l d my

    wife(who

    t

    t h i s

    time did

    not

    go to a n y church) that I

    would

    see i f the Church

    of

    Christ

    could help.

    But

    ven

    though I went f o r

    a few months

    I t i l l f e l t nothing.We

even renewed our marr iage vows

    t

    the

    church.

    Then

    i n November asked

    my

    ife

    i s she

    would go

    to

    the

    church just to show our a p p r e c i a t i o n f o r the ma r

    r i a g e s e r v i c e . When

    e came

    out of the church

    my i f e

    turned

    o

    me

    nd aid out f the

    blue

    that

    she would ik e

    us

    o

    be b a p t i z e d . She

    e l t t h a t s i n c e

    we

    had

    been thro ugh

    a

    s t r e s s f u l time we eeded to have God resent i n our

    l i v e s and by being bap tized

    we

    could bury the o l d and

    start the

    new i f e .

    So asked

    ou r minister,

    Vernon

    to come o ou r

    home

    t o e l l us l l about baptism

    and

    what

    t

    means.

    f t e r the

    lessons

    we made u r decision

    and

    we ere

    baptized

    i n

    January

    1992. I

    can not t e l l you how

    I f e e l . Actually,

    t

    was

    on

    Christmas

    Day

    hen

    I went t o l a y a wreath on

    my

    i s t e r s grave and

    then atten ded

    the

    morning

    service

at the Church of Christ when the S p i r i t began to wo rk

    with tne.

Since that day have never looked back. I just ca n

    Recently I thumbed through some old f i l e s . As I

    reviewed the r d e r

    and

    the

    o f the

    i l e s from

    past,

    a

esson or two unfolded before me.

    One hing that

    struck

    me was that heaven

    and

    e l l

    were just o n e folder apart.

    It

    s

    s o

    true

    that

    these

    two x

treme estinies are held i n such delicate

    b a l a n c e

    The i t t l e choices, the

    s l i g h t

    compromises,

    the small

    steps in

    either

    direction c a n determine s o much.

    Another

    sh o c k i ng

    discovery

    came n the H ection

    o f the

    f i l e s .

    I s a w

    a

    i l e labeled Help.

    I

    was urious as

    to what

    I

    had put i n that

    i l

    so I opened i t . Inside the

    f i l e was

    nothing.

    After

    a chuckle, I

    realized

    how

    true

    that was. So

    many

    e o p l e , s o

    many

    d v e r t i s e r s , so

    many

    o l i t i c i a n s ,

    so

    many adgets,

    so

    many

    books

    o f f e r h e l p .

    But, when
