Hello Brothers and Co-workers,

You have probably noticed a Tip Jar placed at the register when you pay for meals. All of these tips

collected go directly to Moose Charities for The Moose Heart Activity Center, a 3-year project cur-

rently underway. All fraternal units have contribution requirements to support this important

project. So the next time you pay for one of our delicious Volunteer meals, breakfast, lunch or

dinner, please give generously for the Kids at Moose Heart!

The LOOM will soon be installing new Security Systems in the Lodge. The first will be a new Fox

security system with enough door and window sensors and motion detectors to keep our Lodge

safe. The second security feature will be a new card-entry system with intercom on both the front

and back entries to the Lodge. You may have encountered such systems at other lodges during

your travels. Once installed, our members will need to “swipe” their membership cards through the

reader for lodge access. More details are to come on this portion of the security system, so stay

tuned!

A quick mention that our 2019 BINGO program will end, weather depending, by November 13.

Please come out during the final six weeks to show your support, and be sure to thank Kurt Kraal

and his fantastic crew for keeping this important program running!

Bull Moose of the month is Bob Harlow. Bob took over the annual LUAU from Ted Carpenter

when no one else would volunteer to do so. Bob also catered the Pine Brook Home Owner’s Asso-

ciation barbecue, with proceeds benefiting the Lodge general fund. Bob was also key to organizing

the barbecue for the Car Show & Chili Cook-off in August. Bob has a long record of dedication and

support for Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge. Thank you, Bob, for your service!

Please come out and support! Your Lodge needs you!

Fraternally Yours,

Damon Bortz Governor 209-890-3813

Brothers and Co-workers,

October 1, 2019 is a now an historical date for the California Nevada Moose Association (CNMA). On this

date, the Women of the Moose (WOTM) officially merged with the Loyal Order of Moose (LOOM) at the As-

sociation level.

So, just what does mean for us at the Lodge Level? Nothing, except now both the Senior Regent and

Recorder are required to attend monthly District meetings. This merger is NOT at a Lodge level…yet! Full

Lodge and Chapter mergers will come when approved by all Lodges and Chapters at a future Moose

International Convention. The first step will begin with an International Town Hall meeting in Orlando Fl,

this coming November. See more details on the “mooseintl.org” website.

A quote from Director General Scott Hart: “Unifying the Moose into One Membership – where every mem-

ber, male or female, has the same opportunity to serve on the Board of Officers and has a lawful vote and

voice into the business, programs and activities of the Lodge.” Our merger at the CNMA level will now give

the Women of the Moose a voice and vote as well as, an opportunity to run for office on the District and

State Board of Officers. I for one, am looking forward to seeing the final merging of LOOM and WOTM.

Get Involved. Fraternally,

Bill Kislingbury, Administrator

Senior Regent’s Update

Hello Brothers and Co-workers,

We are proud to announce that the Ebbetts Pass WOTM Chapter came in second place for year 2018-

2019 with top honors among over one-hundred lodges in the CA/NV Moose Association. We received

this award at the CA/NV convention that recently took place in Reno. There were five criteria: Gain in

membership, Award of Achievement for 2018 and 2019, Donations to Moose Charities, All WOTM offices

filled and lastly the number of co-workers that have taken training classes. Thank you to the WOTM who

work so hard, you have made this award possible!

The second annual Sock Hop was a great success and those that attended had a rockin’ time! Banana

splits for dessert, and we must not forget the icy mud slides. Great live entertainment, with people

dancing to every song, and over the top decorations. Thanks to all the volunteers and to Patti Corcoran

for your vision and creativity!

The WOTM will be participating in the Trunk or Treat event at the Hazel Fischer school on 10/27 from

5-7pm. We are asking our fellow co-workers for Halloween candy bag donations. Last year we had 150

children at our booth! A box for donations is located next to the front door in the lodge. Thank you in

advance.

Several of the WOTM visited the Calaveras Humane Society in Angles Camp. We were very impressed

with the care that is given to the animals and asked how we could help. They have several needs and we

are up for the challenge! They have specific food needs which we will buy. We will schedule a volunteer

night to make blankets. We are now accepting donations of gently used clean towels, there is a marked

tub in the lodge dining room. Your towel donations are much appreciated.

Our Co-Worker of the month is Brooke Peterson. Brooke is a great cook and volunteers to make lunches

and dinners every month. Brooke is Chairman of the Membership Retention Committee. The painted

Dogwood tree display in the dining room was Brooke’s creative idea to account for new members.

Thank you, Brooke!

The second annual Oktoberfest is scheduled 10/26, pre-pay of $18. See you there!

Fraternally Yours, Elaine Shaffer 2019/20 Senior Regent 209-795-7521
