YaK LeatherThe yak is a remarkable animal that lives in alpine rangeland of the Tibetan Plateau, an area where few other animals can survive.

Amazingly, it thrives in the harsh conditions of the wild and mountainous landscape. In essence, yak hide is a multi seasonal leather

consisting of a thin, compact woven collagen fibre and closed fine grain. These unique characteristics protect the yak in the warm

summers and cold winters.

A proprietary EccO leather treatment, Hydromax is among the world’s most effective methods for producing highly water resistant

shoes. Added to leather during the tanning process and guaranteed to last for the lifetime of a shoe, it has been proven under

the most demanding conditions – from laboratories to city streets to major golf championships to mountain tops to rain forests and

beyond. Recent testing by the renowned and highly accredited sATRA – the world’s leading provider of footwear research – showed

that even after 15,000 flexes and more than four hours partially submerged in water, Hydromax shoes do not leak.

due to the nature of the skin, yak has a very unique and

individual look that differs from hide to hide, which is hard to find

in other leathers.

The aged and natural look of this leather is emphasized by the

strong markings and natural characteristics in the hide. An effect

which is highly visible, especially on oiled nubuck.

Yak hide creates extremely strong leather and offers an excellent

abrasion resistance. The strength of the leather is due to the thin,

compact woven collagen fibre and closed fine grain, which

makes it possible for us to cut the hides into thin leathers and

thereby reduce the weight.
