2010-2015 ECG established new branches in Al Ain (UAE), France, Kurdistan-Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania and Uganda, broadening horizons towards consolidating its pivotal position in today’s competitive markets. To strengthen our contribution to the environment, ECG registered in the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2010. ECG was awarded over 2,200 projects - 1,800 of which are completed - across 33 countries, many of which are globally-recognized projects such as: Terminal Building (2) and Le Meridian Hotel at Cairo International Airport; St. Regis Hotel (Corniche El-Nil); Mall of Arabia & Porto October (Egypt); Porto Agadir (Morocco); Qatar Naval Base & Anantara Doha Island Resort (Qatar); and Valcastel (France).

2009 ECG’s Smart Village Cairo Headquarters was officially inaugurated. The building highlights the expansion of ECG operations throughout Egypt and the MENA region, across all economic sectors. It is perceived as a major step for the business that will sustain further development in the firm’s portfolio of national and international clients.

2006-2009 The real estate boom provided exceptional opportunities for ECG. In Dubai, the firm was engaged in the development of Burj Al Alam and OQYANA - World First. Moving on to Doha, ECG was commissioned to provide architectural, infrastructure, urban design, landscape and construction services to create Al Wa’ab City, a significant multi-disciplinary project for the company. In addition, prominent projects awarded to ECG in Egypt included Madinaty, Garden Heights, Cairo Festival City Centre, and Marassi.

1996-2005 A state-sponsored, international competition was won by ECG to develop Egypt’s state-of-the-art communications and information technology business hub in Smart Village, Egypt. A second opportunity arose in the power sector with the US$1 billion ElKuraimat New Combined Cycle Power Plant. The company’s Union of Association was established to acquire company stock. Moreover, the ECG Dubai, Qatar, and Sudan branches were established.

1992-1995 ECG won two key airport contracts to execute Egypt’s latest, cutting-edge Cairo International Airport Terminal Building 3 and to renovate the airport’s Terminal Building 1. Moreover, providing ECG with its debut in the power sector, the contract for the Atakka Thermal Power Plant Extension in Egypt was secured.

1983-1991 The CADD System and Oracle-based database were launched to effectively streamline the company’s daily operations. ECG’s legal status changed from a partnership to a joint stock company. Meanwhile, the ECG Abu Dhabi, UAE branch was established.

1978-1982 A series of groundbreaking water and wastewater schemes were completed in Egypt by ECG in collaboration with CH2M HILL, Metcalf & Eddy, and ES Parsons. Those encompass the water supply for the Kafr ElSheikh Governorate project and the US$500 million USAID-funded Rod ElFarag Water Treatment Plant and US$5 billion Alexandria Wastewater Upgrade Program.

1970-1977 The firm won its first cross-border deal to develop the US$2 billion Manmade River Project in Libya. Additionally, two milestone contracts, funded by USAID, were signed under the US$1 billion Greater Cairo Waterworks Master Plan and the US$150 million Port Said Water and Wastewater Master Plan in Egypt.

1969 ECG (Engineering Consultants Group), Egypt, was launched as a business partnership by Mr. Mahmoud Sami Abdelkawi and Mr. Ashraf Hassan Allouba. Its first consultancy contract, which involved the design and construction supervision of the US$2.5 million Qena-Safaga Potable Water Pipeline in Egypt, marked the beginning of a new wave of infrastructure development works undertaken by the firm across the country.
