IRMC Celebrates “Donate Life” Month
On April 9, IRMC’s Organ Tissue Donation Council sponsored a Flag Raising to celebrate April as Donate Life month. Representatives from Translife, RTI Donor Services and Keralink were in attendance, along with recipients who had received a kidney/pancreas and liver transplant. Ginny McBride, Translife Executive Director, thanked all caregivers who directly or indirectly promote the opportunity for organ and tissue donation at IRMC.

The Clock is Ticking 2018 Clinical Excellence Awards
J2E RPIW Report Out SessionOn April 6 the Journey to Excellence team shared the results of their very first Rapid Process Improve-ment Workshop (RPIW) with IRMC at the Report Out Session. Watch the session video of the week-long workshop partnering with Crystal Golightly, RN and Nurse Manager, and a team of professionals and volunteers. Work focused on standardizing work on shift report and hourly rounding with the goal of bringing nurses back to the bedside.

5S Challenge
IRMC’s Journey to Excellence is hosting its first 5S contest. Be the first to have your accomplishment posted and you or your team recognized! An element of our Journey to Excellence is to embrace organizing and sustaining clean workspaces and processes throughout our organization. Interested teams or individuals must utilize the 5S tool to organize a workspace, office, patient care area, or storage space.
Submission Guidelines
Teams must submit photos of your 5S work, and will be scored on impact on patient care, visible transformation and sustainability system. Photos should be taken before, during and after the transformation. Photos must be submitted to [email protected] no later than Friday, May 4.

Congratulations to Cordie Chimenti, RN, a member of the Cath Lab. Cordie is IRMC’s recipient of the hospital’s DAISY award for January. She is recognized for exceptional clinical skills and compassion.
Congratulations to Vincent Fiorella, RN, a member of the Float Pool. Vincent is IRMC’s recipient of the hospital’s DAISY award for April. He is recognized for his intelligence, bedside manner and compasion.
The DAISY award, in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, is an international program that rewards and celebrates the exceptional care given by nurses every day. Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians and employees may nominate a deserving nurse by filling out a form and submitting it in one of the nomination boxes located throughout IRMC.
Winners of a DAISY Award receive a statue, pin and certificate, as well as his or her photo and story on the national DAISY website.
