Zaxby’sGoods and ServicesZaxby’s is a local fast food restaurant. They pride themselves on serving customers quality ingredients, such as their primary staple, chicken, in the form of sandwiches, salads as well as giving their customers an unlimited choice of their preferred drink with their Coke Freestyle Machine and topping it all off with excellent customer service.

Factors of ProductionWhile many appreciate the many luxuries that Zaxby’s provides, it takes a great deal to run the restaurant such as skilled cashiers and cooks, a general manager and 3 assistant managers, a good location and building, updated computer system for their digital ordering system, quality chicken, vegetables, dairy, and bread items.

Opportunity CostsThe opportunity cost many consumers will experience is the extra money spent as opposed to eating at home . The gas to drive to Zaxby's as well as the money used to purchased their pricey food. They are also spending a great deal of time waiting in the drive through and in line , time that could have been put towards doing something productive.

Trade OffsEven though the Zensation Zalad is desired year round, the store owners decide to only sell it during the summer .

Drive SmartGoods and ServicesDrive Smart Georgia is a statewide company that provides Driver’s Education, Defensive Driving Education, and driving lessons.

Factors of Production

Drive Smart has a collection of well trained driving instructors, who also serve as driver’s ed and defensive driving teachers. Their business in located in a small space, with a room towards the back to hold a classroom complete with tables, chairs, books, a white board, computer and vending machine as well as air conditioning. They also have numerous Toyota Priuses with their names painted brightly on them.

Opportunity CostsThough many families love Drive Smart the scheduled driving lessons are often early in the morning, meaning losing some desired sleep time for a driving lesson.

Trade OffsStudents will spend either a week or two weekends in driver’s ed class which can be spent doing school work or something else related to their studies.

PublixGoods and ServicesPublix Market is a grocery store, located locally around one’s community where they can go to purchase groceries and receive help from experienced employees

Factors of ProductionFor a market this large it’s essential that they have the best meat, dairy, produce, and pharmaceutical as well as intimate and hygienic items. But to make the shopping experience more pleasurable, they have a friendly and experienced staff of check out salesmen and women, butchers in the meat department and deli as well as expert bakers and pastry chefs. They also maintain their building with a janitorial staff and upkeep their butcher equipment and cash registers and shopping carts and keep shelves and aisle clean an well maintained.

Opportunity CostsPublix is a more focused store as opposed to Walmart where one can find items for their entire home in one store. Therefore when customers come to the cleanlier, smaller, and fresher business at Publix they end up paying a little more for the same products.

Trade OffsStore owners encourage bag boys and girls to carry out customers’ groceries to improve their service. This means while they pack someone’s car with groceries, they could be bagging someone else's groceries inside the store

Planet FitnessGoods and ServicesPlanet Fitness is a nationwide gym where members can come in any time Monday-Thursday and a limited time Friday-Sunday to use equipment to stay in shape.Factors of ProductionPlanet fitness has a number of exercise equipment, staff members and managers, drinks for purchase, televisions and for special members-a tanning bed and massage chairs.

Opportunity CostsWhen members join a gym their opportunity cost is themselves, and many people’s inability to actually make it to the gym due to circumstance or procrastination, either way they continue to pay the membership but rarely take advantage of it.Trade OffsThose who own the gym provide a wide selection of gym equipment to attract members so there’s something for everyone, regardless of the fact that most people only use the treadmill 2 or 3 different pieces of equipment or remain with the treadmill.

ProductionThis small salon uses shampoo bowls and quality shampoo and conditioner as well as hair dryers and straighteners used by skilled professional hair stylists all located within a local outlet shopping area.

Opportunity CostsWhile it’s convenient for someone else to do our hair, by coming to Alter Ego Salon, customers are spending money that would have been otherwise saved if they had done their hair themselves. Trade OffsThe manager of the store often has to help do hair instead of focusing on manager work for the store.
