(European Community Stud-ies Association), ARRISE be-came a full member of ECSA network, along with over 50 other national and regional academic associations who are interested in boosting teaching and research on European integration.
The Romanian Association of International Relations and European Studies (ARRISE)/ ECSA Roma-nia was established in 2010. It is composed by specialists – academics and practitioners – and it defines itself as a pro-fessional organization within the International Relations and European Studies (IRES) field. ARRISE was created in order to set up a functional and effective partnership with public authorities and with private legal persons that are
interested in this academic field. The scope of the associ-ation is to enhance knowledge about and to promote intrinsic values belonging to the area of IRES academic study and research, not only in Romania, but also in Europe and world-wide.
In November 2012, following a spring Bucharest-based evaluation visit conducted by Professor Enrique Banus, Ph.D, ECSA President
“MOVE-IN Louvain” Incoming post-doc Fellowships
―MOVE-IN Louvain‖ In-coming post-doc Fellow-ships is a new transnation-al fellowship programme developed by the Univer-sité catholique de Louvain (UCL) in partnership with the Université de Namur (UNamur) and the Univer-sité Saint-Louis (ULS-B) with the support of the European Commission (Marie Curie actions).
In line with the European Research Area (ERA) ob-jectives, the programme‘s goal is to create favoura-ble conditions for transna-tional mobility of highly skilled researchers. In re-spect for the EURAXESS <http://www.euraxess.be/> prin-ciples, fellows will be se-lected through a trans-parent selection process carried out, notably, by
independent experts.
The programme will last 5 years, issuing 3 calls for proposals. Depending on the duration of the stay of the candidates retained for funding, about 53 fellowships will be grant-ed per call.
The first call for pro-posals, which is now open, will be closed on the 1st of January 2015.

The annual Jean Monnet conference, which took place this year between the 1st and 2nd of October 2014, was focused on the following subject: ―what's next for European Union studies?‖. The European Commission President José Manuel Bar-roso and Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Training, Multilingualism and Youth, opened the event. More than 300 Jean Monnet professors, decision-makers and representatives from international and business organisations attended the event speaking about different approaches for promoting excellence in teaching and research in the European Union studies worldwide, as well as about new ways of delivering teaching in this area. Moreover, the conference considered the ways in which an EU studies back-ground could contribute to improving European governance and policy-making, and how focusing on the EU could benefit areas of study and practice outside the 'classic' EU study domains such as law, politics and economics. A greater awareness of the
European integration process among the partners outside Europe could also contrib-ute to improving mutual understanding with partner countries throughout the world. The Conference participants had the opportunity of finding more about the opinion of the students and alumni in EU studies, following an online survey promoted via the Jean Monnet network and social media platforms in August and September 2014 in the EU Member states. The Romanian students and alumni were ranked first in terms of the number of responses (15% of the total number), them having also a good opinion about the excellence of EU studies field in the country at case. The debates from the four workshops were focused on: Towards a re-definition of the EU Studies; EU Studies feeding results in the policy decision making; EU Studies as an instrument for a better governance; The European Union in the World: the role of EU Studies. Romania was represented at the event by 10 Jean Monnet Professors, two from Bucharest, one from Braşov, one from Cluj-Napoca, two from Iaşi, two from Oradea, one from Suceava and one from Timişoara. The programme of the annual ECSA reunion included the election of the ECSA World Association board by the ECSA representatives from around the world (ECSA Romania was represented by Professor Ioan Horga, Vicepresident of ARRISE –ECSA Romania). Therefore, Professor Enrique Banus (Spain) was re-elected as Pres-ident of ECSA-World for a new 2 years mandate. And the elected Vice-presidents are: Leonce Bekemans (President of ECSA Belgium), Ewa Latoszek (President of ECSA Poland), Martin Holland (President of ECSA Asia-Pacific). And last, but not least, Professor Maria Cristina Silva Parejas (President ECSA Chile) was elected as the new General Secretary of the ECSA–Wold Association.

This highlight notice, open until the end of July 2015, seeks to encourage re-search networking applica-tions that explore innova-tive areas of cross-disciplinary enquiry that straddle the remits of the AHRC and other Research Councils and which involve significant boundary-
crossing engagement and exchange between arts and humanities researchers and researchers/ practi-tioners in emerging areas of science and technology (broadly defined, including social science, engineering and medicine). We hope that the networking awards funded under the highlight will help to bring distinctive
arts and humanities perspec-tives and approaches more centrally into these emerging fields of cross-disciplinary enquiry. The highlight notice also provides an opportunity to build networks to explore, through inter-disciplinary dialogue, how arts and hu-manities research might play a leading role in the devel-
opment of research agendas in a number of areas (see below for further infor-mation) of potential future collaborative working across the Research Councils. Areas:

We are pleased to an-nounce the call for the third round of the ESRC Transformative Research Call. The aim of this call is to provide a stimulus for genuinely transformative research ideas at the frontiers of the social sci-ences, enabling research which challenges current thinking to be supported and developed. We regard transforma-tive research as that which involves, for exam-ple, pioneering theoreti-
cal and methodological innovation. The expecta-tion is that the transform-ative research call will encourage novel develop-ments of social science enquiry, and support re-search activity that entails an element of risk. Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to £250,000 (at 100 per cent full economic cost (fEC)). ESRC will meet 80 per cent of the full eco-nomic costs on proposals submitted.
As in previous rounds, the number of proposals a Research Organisation can submit will be limited. Only two applications can be accepted from each eligible Research Organi-sation. Proposals should be pre-selected by the Research Organisation and will need to be sub-mitted to the ESRC on 19 February 2015. For more info, please go to the following page.

On a number of relational levels, and with different functional goals, not only States and international institutions, but also busi-nesses, non-governmental organizations, public-private bodies, regional and local administrations, inter-governmental bodies, and national and super-governmental courts are all helping to create global polity and its relative glob-al policies. More than ever, an interdisciplinary orien-tation is needed in order to reflect on this new global political form and its con-crete expressions, bringing together different ap-
proaches and methods, perspectives, and perhaps even interpretations. Is it possible to identify a ruling global community? Who inspires the world‘s objec-tives? In other words, what are the goals of this partic-ipation in global polity? And is present-day interna-tional law able to guaran-tee the right to partici-pate? Global polity ap-pears to be a system with two levels: state and glob-al. But is this truly the case? Could a global constitution-al law exist and provide stability to global polity? And would it threaten or foster the development of
the present forms of demo-cratic rule? These are just a few of what could be the defining questions in search of new and innovative an-swers. To limit the search for responses to the eco-nomic institutions alone would only reaffirm a cli-ché that has clearly been rendered obsolete by the interlocking complexity of power. Papers deadline: Decem-ber 31, 2014. This issue is scheduled to appear at end-February 2015. For more info, click here.
