Ecstatic dance is a style of free form dance in which the music is the teacher. There is no structure or steps to follow or any particular way to dance. We are offering a curated music playlist ranging from electronic dance music, World music, and a variety of musical genres. After 15 minutes of instruction and intention setting, participants are invited to dance as they feel led. The rules are simple, no talking and rest whenever you like. The event is inclusive of all ages and is drug and alcohol free. Love offering: $10 Facili-tated by Jeff Brown.

Becoming a member at Unity of Wilmington indicates a definite, considered choice to be an integral part of this Unity spiritual community. It represents a commitment to the manifestation of Unity principles in one’s life, and a com-mitment to share in the joys and responsibilities of co-creating and maintaining this on-going Unity ministry.

This 2-hour class serves as an introduction to Unity principles as well as the history and structure of our governance. While attendance is mandatory for membership in Unity of Wilmington, people are welcome to attend without join-ing.

Unity membership is unique. While other spiritual communities may have spe-cific obligations, it is most important to recognize that membership in Unity of Wilmington is a commitment to deepen our own personal spiritual expansion, and to experience relationships which are centered in integrity, authenticity, and unconditional Love. Membership also is a commitment to share in the joys and responsibilities of co-creating and maintaining this on-going Unity ministry. We unite in purpose in order that we may minister more effectively to each other and to the greater community. Together, we are a powerful force of love and joy, embracing diver-sity and living Unity’s spiritual principles. With the formal adoption of revised bylaws last February, all members are re-quired to declare their desired membership status for the coming year. If you are a member, please complete your membership declaration card and return it to the Admin Office no later than October 15.

Unity of Wilmington runs and operates a small art gallery minis-try as a way to acknowledge and honor the movement of Spirit in the creative expression of our members. We recognize that art sometimes helps tell those important stories and brings a reflective or meditative perspective to spiritual ideas which permeate our lives.

Payton Andrews is exhibiting her work during the months of September and Oc-tober. Payton’s love of art started with abstract paintings, based on feng shui principles and color therapy. She is also passionate about the beauty of nature expressed through her photography. All of Payton’s artistic creations are rooted in her metaphysical beliefs and spirituality.

For more information on the “rules” for participation and entry into this lottery, please contact the church office or Cecelia But-ler, Coordinator.

We look forward to beautiful and interesting exhibits throughout the year!

We are interviewing for a nursery worker and plan to have a wonderful individ-ual to introduce to you very soon.

From Rev. Nickie:

In my experience, teaching no matter what the age provides me with immense learning and opportunities to open my mind to something I have not seen be-fore as I interact with new ideas or even old ideas presented in new ways by the children. Educator Mary Hatwood Futrell says it in a beautiful way: “When the untapped potential of a student meets the liberating art of a teacher, a miracle unfolds.” Let’s continue to open new avenues of joy in Unity of Wil-mington’s youth education program.

From Rev. Nickie...From Rev. Nickie...From Rev. Nickie...From Rev. Nickie... Are you willing to experience heaven now? The He-brews scripture begin by telling us about heaven in Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning the Gods created the heavens and the earth.” Metaphysically, heavens and earth refer to states of consciousness where the soul and body are in harmony with Divine Mind. Heavens is the realm of pure ideas. Earth represents the con-sciousness of the physical body. In Unity we teach that God does not create in the physical universe directly. God creates Divine Ideas then we, as the image and likeness of God, bring those ideas into manifestation on the physical plane through are actions. Eric Butterworth says it this way: “God can only do for us, what we allow God to do through us.” The 17th chapter of Acts states that: “we live and move and have our being in God.” Thus, in order to truly know our-selves we must experience the God of our being and to have that experience of God we must know ourselves to the depth of understanding and knowing we are Divine. When I reflect on these statements, I see a beautiful balance. We are One with God and as we live from that Oneness we begin to experience life differently and in time can, if we choose, come to experience heaven! What does it mean to experience heaven? The experience may be different for each of us given that we are unique expressions of the Divine. What may feel like heaven to me may feel differently for you because the dreams we have reflect who we are in profound and personal ways. Yet, these dreams are borne of a deep inner desire to express the fullness of our Self, to express our gifts, and to contribute to the world in a way that makes a difference. When we live, knowing who we are, an expression of Spirit, one with All There Is and we are willing to live out those dreams, we can take the ideas that come forth and truly create that which we are called to be and in doing so experience heaven on earth.

October 28, 9:00 and 11:00 amOctober 28, 9:00 and 11:00 amOctober 28, 9:00 and 11:00 amOctober 28, 9:00 and 11:00 am Hawaiian spirituality emphasizes heightened awareness of the Self being connected to every part of every-thing. Ancient Hawaiians nurtured the teachings and daily practices of One-ness and Self-greatness, known as the Aloha Spirit. Join us for this specially-themed Sunday celebration! Rev. Nickie will share the wisdom of a Hawaiian proverb, Rev. Mindy will speak prayers in Hawaiian, and Hawaiian attire… well, that’s up to you.

From Rev, Mindy...From Rev, Mindy...From Rev, Mindy...From Rev, Mindy... In my life, I have dreamed a million dreams. I think we all have. I also think that out of the multitude, there are a few which repeatedly return as they find a reso-nance with our heart’s desire. One of my favorite Emily Dickenson quotes is “I dwell in possibility.” As I place my attention on the integration of dreams and desires, I build a bridge between here and there, now and not yet. Standing on the bridge, I bathe myself not only in sweet sunshine, but also a vibration of manifestation. I feel the accomplish-ment of my dreams being true. Have you ever wondered if dreams supply information addressing unanswered questions? Maybe a better query is, have you ever noticed that dreams give us answers to previously unanswered questions? I believe that dreams are the stuff of life rather than fantasy. We want to be of service to others. We want to express the ultimate creativity of God. We want to be valued, loved and appreci-ated. We want to be reminded that we are not alone on our journey. I am deeply touched by the Unity communities that have reached out both dur-ing the hurricane and in its aftermath. Ministers whom Rev. Nickie and I know well, and those we have never met, sent emails and texts of encouragement and prayer. Unity Worldwide Ministries and Silent Unity continue to pray for our spiri-tual community as well as the greater Wilmington area. I thank you for your prayers of strength and comfort. Unity of Wilmington was blessed to come through Hurricane Florence with very little damage. The church property was an island unto itself in a neighborhood of devastation. A number of very large broken branches clung to tall trees or fell in such a way that they “kissed” our building. Other than removing that debris, tossing the contents of a well-stocked refrigerator, we also lost our beloved oven due to numerous power surges. As a spiritual community, we are grateful for your support, as are our fellow Unity communities of Crystal Coast Unity who lost portions of their roof and Unity Cen-ter of Peace in Chapel Hill whose downstairs room were ruined by flooding. We all dwell in possibility in this time of restoration. I’m on the bridge; I feel it.
