Energy end-use efficiency and energy services directive (2006/32/EC)

Aim of the directive: Saving of 9 % end-use energy until 2016

(basis: average of the years 2001 to 2005) Member States shall take cost-effective, practicable and

reasonable measures designed to contribute towards achieving this target.

Every 4-year an EEAP from each Member State Each Member State shall draw up programmes and

measures to improve energy efficiency (=> individual national ways to reach the target)

Energy Efficiency Action Plan (EEAP): Member States send an EEAP for the period of 4 years to the

Commission ( 30.06.2007, 2011 und 2014)

Commission evaluates and publishes its conclusions

By actions of the market partners and administrative actions the aim of the possible energy savings will be reached

Harmonised Energy Efficiency-Indicators and -Benchmarks

The Commission developed a list of harmonised energy efficiency indicators and benchmarks

Member States shall gradually integrate these indicators and benchmarks into the statistical data included in their EEAPs,

Member States use them as one of the tools at their disposal to decide on future priorities in the EEAPs.
